@@velvetbutterfly Genuinely in what way? There was a midrevision of the ending where you were clearly supposed to choose who gets to live, which I guess would be a good reason for the choice to be required, except...that was scrapped again in the final game. There is functionally no reason to not have a Pythra/Homuri-default and actually reasons why it would have been better(Most obviously, the displayed name just defaulting to "Pyra" in the fight beforehand, which makes no sense incontext)
@@lpfan4491 I was thinking of the other revision where it was changed from being left ambiguous for if the crystal even works again. Point being, it was scrapped very early on. And the tutorials have a ton of errors and inconsistencies and general BS that makes them bad, that isn't the best argument. And in context it does make sense. The entire chapter had them using the name Pyra. "You have to save Pyra" "That's only a fraction of what Pyra must be feeling" "where is Pyra" "Rex and Pyra like bullseye we aim for" Why say the name a hundred times in the script only to use the other name once at the very end? There's also the fact that slamming the names together doesn't work well or at all in some languages. And, would you really want a 120hour RPG to have major story changes in the final 10 hours based on a single choice when you only have a single save file? I feel like not only would that be hell for a sequel; but players wouldn't enjoy needing to do all that just for a different ending
@@velvetbutterfly >Tutorials No, the actual name, it is used during chain attacks. >Wouldn't work Actually, it would work in all languages the game was released in besides Chinese(Partially because most use "Pyra" and "Mythra" anyways), where their names are only one symbol long anyways, so there is no issue just putting both there in sequence. That it can be done is probably why it is literally done in the cutscene before the choice still(Plus the opposite version of the merger). >Major storychanges Now you are just making stuff up, lmao.
Went Pyra, both fell out of the sky, Mythras more nonsensical, Pyra’s goal oriented altruistic and acquiescent. Got KOSMOS on my first run and never looked back for these reasons.
I chose Mythra simply because Pnuema is Mythra’s true form and Pyra is less than a fraction of Mythra. That’s not an insult, btw. Like, Pnuema is the Trinity Processor. It her purest form. Mythra is the Aegis, awakened as a blade with Adam’s human emotions imprinted. Pyra is the Blade, formed off as the incomplete/missing aspects of Mythra, but it the most human.
Finally someone speaking my language. It would be really weird for both of them to act as one literally (they do metaphorically in their support for Rex and his goals) when it's been shown over and over for one to take the backseat and let the other do their thing. I'm pretty sure in one cutscene as Pneuma she says "we're here" and it would make the most sense if it was Mythra talking about her in her true form and Pyra in the backseat, safe and not erased or anything like that.
Honestly I chose Pyra, but after playing Torna, I'd be more inclined to choose Mythra. Once you play Torna as well as late game quests in base game, you really start to feel for Mythra and she becomes really really likeable.
My favorite part of Torna was how the main cast actually called Mythra out for her nasty behavior and didn't enable it because "That's just how she is" like they would in some other garbage media. It's satisfying as heck seeing the local brat get talked back to.
This choice lost a lot of impact for me on my firdt playthrough because Rex was in the process of blinking when the interface came up, so he got paused mid-blink. *He looked so stoned.* I couldn't really focus on who I liked more as I was too busy laughing.
It would have been really cool if in new game + there was an extra option such as saying both their names or smth, which could lead to an extended ending
For some reason I recall picking Mythra even though I hadn’t played Torna. Then I played Torna and all of my worries were destroyed alongside the Tornan Titan.
@@Zoroark_Master Essentially in the main game of Xenoblade 2, Mythra doesn’t really have a chance to shine compared to Pyra. There’s no reasoning as to why Mythra is like how she is until Torna. After I played Torna I loved her character and was resolved about choosing Mythra over Pyra.
I chose Pyra even though I prefer Mythra just because I feel that's what Rex would do. Rex shouts Pyra so much it would be weird to suddenly change to Mythra.
Ah yes, the choose your Waifu moment. Do we choose the physically abusive, brash, overconfident war criminal who is still mourning her ex to the point where every other conversation is a direct comparison between you and him. Or do we choose the emotionally manipulative sex robot who only chose to help you in order to die faster? Is there any reason we can’t choose the cat or the princess?
I feel like mythra is better though because she has real problems and struggles a lot despite being the best blade, you go for pyra because shes so perfect and thats why mythra hates you because you dong have the manly balls to actually help her out because she has a lot of problems a lot of people do but you wont be able to support them all that much if you go for the perfect person
@Nhat Anh Hoang that's bullshit it means pyra has rarely any character development making her extremely shallow in the end it would be interesting if instead of her remaining the same in the end she sorta becomes like mythra: hardened, mean, tough and mythra more being calm happy and more used to lifes hardships treating them with a little more respect. what makes a good character is a character that changes in some form of way rather than just staying the same. dont get me wrong pyra is a kind character and yes she has some complications i feel like mytra though is better because she really has matured past her whole "being a jerk" thing. so character development>>>>>>pyra being nice
@Nhat Anh Hoang mythra becomes a good wife at the end too, i dont enjoy pain but im willing to deal with pain if it strengthens a relationship. also your a gigachad if you go for mythra and a baby simp if you go for pyra. fact nuff said dont even try further arguing with me. if you wanna simp over someone simple then go ahead
Nhat Anh Hoang um… not to burst your bubble but Pyra isn’t her actual name in the Japanese version(you know the souce material). Her name is Homura, and Mythra’s is Hikari. So making the argument Puneuma(japanese name) = Pyra awakened(when her name is Homura in japanese, source material) makes 0 sense.
Uses Anos Voligoad technique and make Pyra and Mythra separate entities. Now I have both. Mondays,Wednesday,Fridays - Pyra Tuesdays,Thursdays,Saturdays - Mythra Sunday- Both
Facts, I mean it felt bad calling Mythra, Pyra but she was always nice and it always felt like Rex would choose that name because of his feelings for her, plus he introduced Pyra to his family and spent the most time with her so it just made sense, but Mythra's reaction to picking the name Pyra is priceless, like she's acting mad but she kinda expected him to do that and that's why she smiling about it.
the hard choice that had to be made😤 I welcome pyra with open arms though, either way, theres a soul there that learns and becomes the best version of itself
I chose Mythra first playthrough cause I liked her character more overall. Pyra took most of the main story up, but the stuff in chapter 3 & 4 and side stuff made me really like her despite her being a tsun (and bro, boob window). I like Pyra, a lot, but honestly he9r character wasn't my cup of tea, and then the Poppi & Mythra scene happened and it instantly blew almost every other character out of the water for me. And it just kept snow balling from there man, and then Torna came and basically just wrapped it all up in a nice perfect bow for me. I love Mythra's character, flaws and all (though shes still only my third favorite character).
On my first play through I actually went with Mythra because it felt natural. As in, Mythra hid herself away for a long time behind Pyra, I felt like it was natural that she have her name stay with Pneuma.
to me these debates depend on one factor. one can turn you into a double spinning edge helicopter one can’t turn you into a double spinning edge helicopter it clearly shows who’s superior
Simply put; I picked Pyra. I don't care what The Golden Country tried to show, or that she's 'the original Aegis', Pyra was saddled with living because Mythra couldn't face up to her own mistakes... I feel sorry for Pyra because of Mythra... So... It was definitely an easy choice.
When this prompt showed up I looked up if this affects anything later in the game and when I realized it didn't I IMMEDIATELY choose Pyra for two reasons #1 she's not a tsundere, #2 you known her longer. Honestly it wasn't till Torna DLC and her inclusion in Smash where I started liking Mythra. But none of them compare to Nia aka best girl.
Mythra: Pyra, Mythra, it doesn't matter. We are the same person after all so call me whichever I guess. Rex: Ok Pyra. Mythra: THE FUCK YOU SAY TO ME YOU LITTLE SHIT?!?
play xeno 3 to know who he choose the answer is: yes he choose yes, all 3, at the same night, the kids are the same age in 3 there is a pic where you can see it(the family photo you Fu*k) he wasnt kidding we he sayed "i love all of you guys"
I like how mythra and pyra's personalities are totally opposite but they are both head over heels for rex. Mythra literally asks rex when he's going to propose to her in a cutscene. It's great

"You have to save Pyra" "That's only a fraction of what Pyra must be feeling" "where is Pyra" "Rex and Pyra like bullseye we aim for"
Why say the name a hundred times in the script only to use the other name once at the very end?
There's also the fact that slamming the names together doesn't work well or at all in some languages.
And, would you really want a 120hour RPG to have major story changes in the final 10 hours based on a single choice when you only have a single save file? I feel like not only would that be hell for a sequel; but players wouldn't enjoy needing to do all that just for a different ending
@@velvetbutterfly
>Tutorials
No, the actual name, it is used during chain attacks.
>Wouldn't work
Actually, it would work in all languages the game was released in besides Chinese(Partially because most use "Pyra" and "Mythra" anyways), where their names are only one symbol long anyways, so there is no issue just putting both there in sequence. That it can be done is probably why it is literally done in the cutscene before the choice still(Plus the opposite version of the merger).
>Major storychanges
Now you are just making stuff up, lmao.
@@lpfan4491 that was one of your points. You brought up wanting the choice to change stuff if they forced the player to choose
Me an intellectual: P Y T H R A
So the game clearly wants you to have a favourite, and I didn’t. Still don’t.
*I spent 10 minutes pacing back and forth staring at this screen*
Same I’m at that part rn and I like both equally. But I ended up going Pyra. Felt bad when she called Rex a jerk
For me the deciding factor was the fact that I was currently talking to Mythra when making the decision lol
Went Pyra, both fell out of the sky, Mythras more nonsensical, Pyra’s goal oriented altruistic and acquiescent.
Got KOSMOS on my first run and never looked back for these reasons.
@@asadhus Rex was talking about the new form so either way that line happens lol
flip a coin
For Me I Picked Mythra that Because without her I may haven't got Xenoblade 2 at all (yes one of the Mythra mains)
From ssbu
Form ssbu, form in game beacause light element blade are so rare.
"OK. Sure."
*Proceeds to make the decision of a lifetime*
The cannon ending. He chose both.
😐
Ya y?
My Reasoning:
Mythra just sounds more epic
Honestly I chose Pyra, but after playing Torna, I'd be more inclined to choose Mythra. Once you play Torna as well as late game quests in base game, you really start to feel for Mythra and she becomes really really likeable.
My favorite part of Torna was how the main cast actually called Mythra out for her nasty behavior and didn't enable it because "That's just how she is" like they would in some other garbage media. It's satisfying as heck seeing the local brat get talked back to.
the title should be called "are you a masochist or nah?"
I usually go by hair color.
You can take a guess as to what choice I’d make.
Nia
I genuinely love how casual the voice actors sound. Just chillin'
You mean how emotionless they sound.
Just call her Pythra and be done with it
This choice lost a lot of impact for me on my firdt playthrough because Rex was in the process of blinking when the interface came up, so he got paused mid-blink. *He looked so stoned.*
I couldn't really focus on who I liked more as I was too busy laughing.
Ok nice to meet you, Myra
I select
P Y T H R A
It would have been really cool if in new game + there was an extra option such as saying both their names or smth, which could lead to an extended ending
For some reason I recall picking Mythra even though I hadn’t played Torna. Then I played Torna and all of my worries were destroyed alongside the Tornan Titan.
What worries?
@@Zoroark_Master Essentially in the main game of Xenoblade 2, Mythra doesn’t really have a chance to shine compared to Pyra. There’s no reasoning as to why Mythra is like how she is until Torna. After I played Torna I loved her character and was resolved about choosing Mythra over Pyra.
@@zb778 well, myself even before torna, I always preferred mythra.
Ex?
@@Xenosaga he means Adam, the ex blade user of mythra
I love this comment man
Wtf did i just read
YES
Lucky he doesn't have to pick, then. Heck, if Nia wants in, too, then all she has to do is ask...
Mythra's reaction was so funny and cute. She litteraly did not care what he would call her. And then she heard pyra and got shocked lol
I usually choose Pyra. Because of Rex's obvious feelings for Pyra. Pyra and Mythra are both great though.
@Nhat Anh Hoang mythra becomes better in the end tho
@Nhat Anh Hoang mythra becomes a good wife at the end too, i dont enjoy pain but im willing to deal with pain if it strengthens a relationship.
also your a gigachad if you go for mythra and a baby simp if you go for pyra. fact
nuff said dont even try further arguing with me. if you wanna simp over someone simple then go ahead
"Both? Both is good."
- Miguel and Tulio, The Road to El Dorado, 2000
I choose Mythra she's fast and has a big attitude almost like Sonic
Uses Anos Voligoad technique and make Pyra and Mythra separate entities. Now I have both. Mondays,Wednesday,Fridays - Pyra
Tuesdays,Thursdays,Saturdays - Mythra
Sunday- Both
Facts, I mean it felt bad calling Mythra, Pyra but she was always nice and it always felt like Rex would choose that name because of his feelings for her, plus he introduced Pyra to his family and spent the most time with her so it just made sense, but Mythra's reaction to picking the name Pyra is priceless, like she's acting mad but she kinda expected him to do that and that's why she smiling about it.
the hard choice that had to be made😤
I welcome pyra with open arms though, either way, theres a soul there that learns and becomes the best version of itself
“Call me which ever”
“Ok sure, Pyra it is then! :D”
*“I didn’t say there was no wrong answers Rex.”*
Call her pythra mission accomplished ez
Me, Post-XC2: Damn I wonder who Rex will pick
Me, Post-XC3: A surprise to be sure, *but a welcome one*
Rex after XB3: My answer is yes
Mythra:
(Calls Rex a jerk)
Rex:
“Well I’m sorry, remind me again who it was that abused me?”
It reminds me of that scene at the end of FF7 Machinabridged episode 10 where Cloud calls Tifa out on her BS
When I first played this game
I felt outrun
I was already making the tefkection of calling Pneuma
Pythra or Myra
And then Rex just spoke it out loud.
Fuse the names together
Myra
On my first play through I actually went with Mythra because it felt natural. As in, Mythra hid herself away for a long time behind Pyra, I felt like it was natural that she have her name stay with Pneuma.
Rex: Why not both plus one?
on my first playthrough i chose the name mythra, since it's her original form.
Yes, I'm calling her "whichever"
Pythra and Myra
Wait, we are at the same point... F*CK
Why pick one when you can choose both of them
Or 3 of them ?
spoiler alert
Rex: YES
I felt like Pyra was the one who just wanted to chill, while Mythra was the one with all the power, so Mythra.
to me these debates depend on one factor.
one can turn you into a double spinning edge helicopter
one can’t turn you into a double spinning edge helicopter
it clearly shows who’s superior
DOUBLE SPINNING DOUBLE SPINNING DOUBLE SPINNING DOUBLE SPINNING GO FOR IT MYTHRA
"Gods don't have to choose. We take." -Flying Green Elf
You will pick Pyra, if you have any selft respect left.
By shafting him and taking his position in Smash Bros, they betrayed him.
Therefore, neither.
After Torna the Golden Country and what she through in it , I find myself favoring Mythra more !
First play through I picked Pyra. Second I picked Mythra. Third…haven’t gotten there yet so I’m not sure.
Rex: Both, and hey why not throw Nia into the mix as well while we're at it.
I would absolutely call her Myra and never look back.
I picked Mythra in less then 2 seconds

I think you confusing Speedwagon for Mythra. He is best girl.
But without Mythra not being able to face her own mistakes we wouldn't have Pyra.
So everyone wins! Except Pyra... and Mythra.
*You're GOD DAMN RIGHT!!!*
Mythra: Pyra, Mythra, it doesn't matter. We are the same person after all so call me whichever I guess.
Rex: Ok Pyra.
Mythra: THE FUCK YOU SAY TO ME YOU LITTLE SHIT?!?
3rd option: Just actually call her Pneuma
You made the very right decision. I enjoyed Mytra's reaction way too much, I replayed it five times!
In case it wasn't obvious, I do not like Mythra.
play xeno 3 to know who he choose
the answer is:
yes
he choose yes, all 3, at the same night, the kids are the same age
in 3 there is a pic where you can see it(the family photo you Fu*k)
he wasnt kidding we he sayed "i love all of you guys"
I like how mythra and pyra's personalities are totally opposite but they are both head over heels for rex. Mythra literally asks rex when he's going to propose to her in a cutscene. It's great
I love how this pretty much represents the 5 minutes I needed to decide what to do
i picked mythra instantly bro. Pyra spent half the game lying to rex
Ill take both please 🌝
This dilemma would've been made easier if they'd let us call her Pymy
We all know that Mythra it's the best girl, man when it's night she protects me from the scary dark
You can't go wrong with choosing the girl that protects you from the scary dark.

Since it's both of them I hinestly would have preferred it if he called them Pythra, Myra or just Pneuma.
