The X3 is BMWs cheap masses SUV. It's like a Mercedes CLA for the sedan world. The Tuscan isn't nearly as decent, as the 'Toyoda' Rav4. The Rav4 being more expensive. You also own or lease a Hyundai. MPG has gone down in 2025? Rhetorical. I feel he's already done this video. Oh, 2025.....what a huge sarcatic difference. The RAV4 Prime, should have way better buy now. 'Toyoda' getting "American" lazy in the last 6 years. Old Lexuses are better quality and not as much cost cutting. Beyond that SUVs should be banned from the road, cars in general have gone up tremendously. I'd lease the Tuscan and abuse the hell out of it and return it for another one. 231hp is not enough for a vehicle of this size and weight. 35/36mpg isn't great and all of these vehicles give you a small gasoline tank. It doesn't have to be a Mercedss 21.1 gallon tank on a V6 engine. That gets 570 miles of range and about 24mpg in a 4700lb vehicle. 4 cylinders saved about 3MPG and put tremendous strain on the engines and lowered cost/weight. This Tuscan should be at least 270hp and get 45mpg plus by now. All this on a cheap plastic X3 comment? Yes. This refresh is just Hyundai saying, we made it a bit cheap, let's add some bits of luxury to make it heavier. It's also more expensive than the 2024. I could do that, by charging more. No pun. They took a Tuscan and made it for all 3 models. Plug in, Petroleum and Hybrid. This is the limited version. It's a 43K Hyundai. Have him test the base model. Sad. A manual steering adjust? High interior value. Should have a 100 dollar mirror camera.

It's Truly amazing that, other than in the intro, he never commented on the Limited trim's HUD (even during the driving segment). To my knowledge, this is (currently) the only Hybrid SUV in its class to offer that feature. BTW, in addition to the amazing amount of (selectable) content which can be displayed in the HUD, it is a wonderful feature to have because it will highlight any cars in either/both blind spots; my wife would no longer consider any car which lacks this technology. This is especially important for those drivers who are nervous taking their eyes off the road to look in the side view mirrors for blind spot monitoring or who don't want to be jarred by the Tucson's loud audible warning system if a lane change is signaled with a car in that side's blind spot.
Additionally, he failed to correctly mention that the paddle shifters actually control the levels of regenerative braking (except when in SPORT mode, where they manually control the transmission), which can extend the hybrid battery's capability. Lastly, considering that this is a VERY recent video, he made several conjectures about the upcoming refresh of the 2026 Kia Sportage (expected in the US in June or July). This vehicle was shown at the recent L.A. Auto show and will offer the same technology and upgraded Hybrid battery pack (with a bump in HP/torque) as the Tucson, including the HUD in the top trim (Prestige). Those two "sister" cars will be almost identical, other than the function/location of the transmission selectors and more usable in cabin storage for the driver & front passenger area in the Tucson. Also, it's been reported that the 2026 Sportage (Limited trim only??) will have acoustic (laminated) glass in BOTH rows, as opposed to the Tucson only having acoustic glass in the front row (it's still a VERY quiet performer).
FWIW, I recently traded my wife's 2022 ICE Santa Fe (Calligraphy trim) for the 2025 Tucson Hybrid (Limited trim) and she's thrilled with the new car; she has previously driven the Santa Fe models for the past 10 years. In order to obtain the HUD, I'll be moving from the 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV to either the 2025 Tucson PHEV or 2026 Kia Sportage PHEV as soon as my current lease ends in a few months. We love the Hyundai/Kia products and, honestly, don't currently consider any other car manufacturers.

Drove a 2023 Hyundai Tucson Plug In (Limited) for many months and traded for 2024 Rav4 Prime. Hyundai was far too dependent on the gas engine and didn't know what combo of powertrain it wanted to use when you stepped on gas. Was very clunky with the EV gear shifts and mpgs really suffered in cold weather. Rav4 better in basically every way. Powertrain way smoother. Vehicle WAY faster. Engine doesn't come on when you don't want it to. Getting about 10 mpgs better on average with Rav (63 mpgs over 8,000 miles of 50/50 city/hwy driving). Also paid slightly less for Rav4 than the Hyundai and got the absolutely loaded version with Premium Package. Only way Hyundai is better I would say is their AWD setup is better with a mechanical connex between axles and infotainment is slightly easier to use (but took about 4 months for me to get the car connected to my Hyundai Bluelink account and customer service was rough there also). Cameras may be slightly better. I like the fake leather in the Toyota better than the real leather in the Hyundai. Hyundai drivers seat leather was coming off the foam after just a few months of ownership. Hyundai service absolutely SUCKS around Boston with a 6-8 week wait just to get basic service like a tire rotation (that was the case with like 5 dealers I checked with). And look at the Hyundai hybrid depreciation, it is WILD. Lose like $10k or more in a year, prob $25k in 3 years.

You will NEVER find that at a Toyota dealership one because their engines don’t fail and in the 1/1000 chance they do, Toyota takes care of you. I find it's extremely quiet and smooth. It's often difficult to tell the difference between the EV and ICE motor, and the transitions are very smooth. 22:45 I think car journalists (not just you) get this very wrong. You also hear journalists say stuff like "SUV buyers don't care for how it drives..." etc. _People do care!!!_ We care if a car drives well, if it feels like a traditional automatic vs. CVT, how the steering feels, how it handles bumps mid-corner, etc. Why would people stop caring for an SUV?
Remember that the only reason most people buy SUV's is because they're forced to. I.e. they had kids and while the Accord is big, it doesn't have room for a large stroller + Costco run groceries in the trunk and it doesn't have AWD. Their only option is a CR-V because Honda killed the Accord Crosstour. Car seats are also way bigger today than they used to be, so back seats need even more room. Nowadays most people don't have money for two cars either, so the "fun weekend car" is dead too. People just can't afford to get a crappy daily SUV and also own (and insure) a fun sports car for weekends only. People who care about driving have to get an SUV that does everything _AND_ drives well.
The same goes for hybrids too. Why the hell can't we have fun-to-drive hybrids? Why can't someone who enjoys driving also care about fuel efficiency, global warming, and saving money on gas? Saying that "hybrid buyers don't care how a car drives" is lazy, decades-old thinking. That may have been true of the first generation Prius, but not anymore. In fact, that statement just gives a pass for auto makers to make boring, terrible hybrids.
TL;DR: someone who cares about driving dynamics is forced to buy an SUV because family wagons are dead, but they still care how it drives! Saying "SUV/hybrid buyers don't care about [whatever]" is just lazy journalism.

It also helps to know some basics about turbo engines. Just don’t try to punch it on a cold engine. If I’m preparing to pass or gun it from a stop I make sure I’m in the right mode.

One big thing to consider when buying a hybrid if there's also a PHEV option of the same model. If the vehicle and you both qualify for any Federal or State tax credits, the PHEV could cost significantly less than the "regular" hybrid after you get the tax credit refunded. We bought a 22' Tucson Limited PHEV when it was new, and it cost a few thousand less than the regular hybrid was (at the time). You also get the benefit of driving around town in EV mode while not using any gas (you HAVE to charge it as needed though - which is no big deal with the included 110V charger). When you need to go longer distances, it then operates as a normal hybrid.
So far, we've been VERY impressed with the Tucson and it's PHEV system. I'd buy another one tomorrow if I needed to...

Love my 2022 Limited Hybrid. Just over 40,000 miles at this point with zero issues. Only complaints are the extensive piano black plastic interior trim which is a fingerprint magnet, and the all touch HVAC and infotainment controls. Oh, and the lane centering never seems to keep the car actually centered, just between the lines. Other than that, it’s been a fantastic daily driver and a great looking vehicle.

Not sure what the defect is in the painted lines, but something in that location always causes the car to glitch, and if I didn’t have my hands on the wheel, who knows how far off the road the car would try to go.

Those directional wheels are horrible. The "fang" tail lights are horrible as well. No lumbar support adjustment for the front passenger seat even in top trim? BIG FAIL. The new Hyundai key fob is also a FAIL. But, on a positive note, the interior is very nice, the car drives exceptionally well, and the cabin is quiet.

Lift gate the car has to be locked, wait 15 seconds, then stand from 20 to 40 inches to get stuff out. If you want to press the inside button you have to hold it all the way up. Also no way to close it hands free! Stupid. Also I can't open the door, press the lock button from the inside and lock the car and leave. The rear doors, even if the doors are locked, can be opened by a passenger. Make sure if you have kids to use the child lock, which they make it's hard to find. And you can't fill the gas tank with the doors locked

NEVER EVER buy a Hyundai product or else you will be LEFT FOR DEAD just like me. I bought a brand new Santa Fe Hybrid Luxury in 2023 and my experience so far has been a nightmare to say the least. The vehicle has major safety issues (e.g.: vehicle failing to slow down/ stop on cruise control), providing photo & video evidence to prove the issue was not enough for Hyundai Canada to take immediate action and instead I have been left to battle this by sending it for a million diagnostics tests. Finally, I had no option but to take them to court. The judgement is coming soon but it is shocking that a manufacturer (& Transport Canada) would allow this to happen. This could have easily become a criminal case if an accident would have occurred and then I would have been blamed for it when it is truly a technical snag. If you buy their product, your safety and that of the public will be at risk and Hyundai would only be silent spectators! SHAME ON HYUNDAI FOR PUTTING THE PUBLIC & CUSTOMERS AT RISK ONLY TO MAKE $$$, ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL!!
