I own a 23 Tucson Hybrid SEL Convenience. We’ve owned Hyundai’s since 2004, and have been very happy with them. We’ve owned Hyundai’s keep our cars for 8-10 years. I’ve been able to get 40 mpg out of it, depending on traffic and conditions.
Have been a Hyundai owner since 2011, and bought the 2022 Tucson as soon as they came out, when nobody could find them, or keep them in stock! Have been very satisfied, and still am!!! LOVE MY TUCSON!! ❤
I had a 22 Hybrid Tucson Ultimate, loved it so much I traded it this summer for a 24 Plug In Tucson. The plug in is amazing. Can’t say enough about it.
Just purchased a 2025 Tucson Hybrid Limited at 0% finance rate. (36 or 48 mo. is available). The highway drive assist is only HDA1 (not HDA2 with auto lane change) but even HSA1 tracks perfectly in the center of the lane on the highway. The heads up display is awesome, shows blind spots, shows road sign recognition, it will show a photo of the person calling from your contacts, & song info. when the song changes. The Tucson came standard with with digital key 2 which allows you to start the car from your phone to precondition - for free for as long as you own the vehicle. 5 year warranty and 10 years on powertrain and hybrid system, cannot be beat.
We pick our new 25 Tucson Hybrid Limited up on Tuesday. Very impressed! The heads-up display is awesome, totally agree. The Hybrid had a noticeable acceleration advantage over the all gas.
I have a 25 Tuscon limited as well, I am incredibly happy with it, aside from the gas mileage. The meter reads about an average of 35 mpg, cool. No problem there, but pump calculations say it's 30 mpg. Granted - I have not reached the 4000 Mile break in yet. And I got it around the time gas stations started putting the winter fuel in. I'll have to wait until summer to see the difference. My very first car was an 08 Kia rondo. There is a night and day difference from the KIA and Hyundai cars of then, to today. Hopefully it stays reliable.
I decided to go for a Tucson 1.6 petrol manual engine in December 2021. Absolutely fabulous vehicle no issues at all for 3 years. Now upgraded to the Hybrid N line model two weeks ago. Still loving it💌💌💌
I own a 2024 Tucson Hybrid for around 6 months and I’m very happy with the car. It’s a great buy! If you have the option, grab the white exterior with light grey interior, it looks like a “luxurious” car.
2023 sales for Hyundai Tucson is approximately 210K. 2023 sales for Toyota Rav 4 is approximately 435K. More than 2x that of Hyundai. There is a reason Toyota has nothing to worry about from Hyundai. 😂😂😂😂😂
Great job on the comparison! I own a 2019 RAV4 Hybrid and my only complaint is the head unit. Otherwise, it is amazing! I average 43 MPG during the summer.
I get the RAV4 has better resale but if I’m going to be in a vehicle 3/4 years or longer I want to be in what I feel is the better vehicle for me. That’s why I decided on the Tucson limited, picked it up 2 weeks ago and it’s become my fav vehicle I’ve owned.
@ I’ve owned a couple Hyundai’s and never had them fall apart. Been in the car business for over 6 years and most owners have positive comments about their ownership. Last 5 years or so Hyundai has excellent reliability.
Great comparison review. I just bought the Tucson Hybrid Limited - absolutely love it! Love all the features, and it drives extremely smoothly and quietly. When you're driving it's difficult to know if it's running on the EV motor or the ICE. I would have given more points to the Tucson for style - the RAV4 is looking tired and uninspired by comparison.
I think what sells me on the tuscon is that its just overall refreshing to see a different look that is still attractive. I personally went with ford escape hybrid for the price and fuel economy but i do miss the lack of power and low cabin noise and more.
I own the 2025 Tucson Hybrid Limited - it’s a really good and quiet vehicle, but it’s also getting expensive. The RAV4 is getting redesigned soon, and with Toyota doing great things recently, you can bet the new RAV4 will be a massive success. A RAV4 with current Camry tech would be a no brainer compared to the Tucson.
Sure! Are you comparing specific SUVs, or do you want a general comparison? Some popular options include the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson. Each has its own strengths in terms of reliability, features, and performance.
The decision to choose the Tucson over the RAV is pretty easy, especially when you look at the lower trims of each... & factor in Hyundai discounts vs. Toyota's MSRP-or-higher pricing. While I agree that Toyota certainly has a REPUTATION and HISTORY of better reliability, it's hard to ignore the really poor styling AND the cheapness of interior materials & interior of the RAV. It's just not a good value. This is partly why back in April, we chose the Tucson Hybrid in its BLUE (base) model over the competition; it was even nicer than the Toyota Venza. And yes, we also looked at (Mazda CX-30, 5, & 50), the Buick envision, Forester, etc. The Tucson just has a much more premium look and feel, especially when you're looking at low-$30's pricing.
toyotas will always win my heart hyundai sucks and has alot of recalls 1.reliability 2.resell value 3.drives so smooth 4.cheap on maintence 5.amazing on gas 6. no turbos on some models 7. all models come with hybrid
Huge differences between the Rav4 Hybrid and Tucson Hybrid transmission choices. Rav4 has a motor to the rear wheels that can only provide about 25% of the total power to the rear wheels. If you lose the rear motor or battery power you are front wheel drive only. Tucson has a driveshaft and a locking differential - there is no comparison. Further, on the ride comfort comments - if you'd try baby mode on the Tucson - you'd be surprised how smooth the ride is even on 19's.
The advantage of the RAV4 is reliability. Tucson offers much more high-end tech, including cameras that check drivers' responses. Tucson may have lower reliability but provides a much more extended warranty. The Tucson is also much quieter than the RAV4. For me, I would buy the Tucson Limited Hybrid
Great comparison. One thing that most people don't know about the Tucson Limited is that it received the worst possible rear auto brake rating from IIHS. You can watch their testing video of it just ramming into pillars and vehicles without stopping. People always bring up Hyundai's great technology, but some of it doesn't even work. Also, the rear turn signal location is another whole danger.
Great side-by-side comparison and review of these two vehicles. I prefer the Hyundai Tucson because of the interior features and it comes with a better warranty than the Toyota RAV4. Thanks!
I am STILL in my due diligence research of finding the right hybrid vehicle for me. Since I am 66 years old and I keep my cars for 10 years, then realistically, this will probably be my last vehicle i will ever buy. But this I can say for sure....... I want the new look of the Tucson but I want the Hybrid reliability of the RAV4. So I remain in my quagmire. And I say the same thing if i consider buying the Santa Fe Hybrid vs the Toyota Highlander hybrid as to have 3 rows when toting around the grandkids. So I will more than likely go with the Dealership that gives me the best deal on the 4 SUV's mentioned. Although part of me wants to wait one more year because Toyota insiders are saying that RAV4 is being totally redesigned for 2026 which makes me wonder do I wait until this time next year or not.
They made a new Tucson and facelifted it before an all new RAV4. It's a great facelift, too, since it refined the exterior and significantly improved the interior. Both RAV4 and CR-V look very outdated and are overpriced. New Sportage facelift will also further increase competition in this segment. Toyota and Honda are very slow with improvements and facelifts. It is hard to justify getting the current RAV4 at its price compared to the competition. It is a 2019 model at its core and interior has aged like milk.
If you are planning to keep the car for a extended period of time I think you will find the RAV4 will hold up better over the years but I love the style of the Tucson
Hyundai and Kia vehicles offer a great value for features proposition. Their vehicle quality has made great strides since they first arrived on our shores back in the late 80's and early 90's. Their build quality is on par with Toyota. Their mechanical quality still lags significantly, however. It will be interesting to see how the new generation of engines lasts. They set themselves back significantly with all of the blown engines in several of their models and the way they denied warranty replacements on many of them lost a lot of customers and caused a lot of bad will in the marketplace. You had transmission issues with BOTH of your Hyundai long term vehicles. Your Santa Fe issue may have been a fluke unique to that vehicle, but what about the jumping/twitching after starting your Sonata N Line? Did they ever figure that out? There's a huge amount of vehicles on the road now with that DCT transmission in them. Are they ticking time bombs and will the 100K warranty cover them.....or will they look for ways to weasel out again like with the engines? The Toyota subscription model to make installed features work is a NO GO for me. Aside from satellite radio (which is like cable TV and I have no problem paying for that) and perhaps some advanced/enhanced navigation features like Audi offers on a subscription basis, paying for things already installed in the car on a subscription basis to make them work is just a money grab and I will not buy any vehicle where I have to pay to make installed features work. I feel the same way about Ford's Blue Cruise. To me, this practice is like the manufacturers acting just like the dealers with their market adjustments. I refused to play that game too.
If your keeping it long term Toyota wins every time. Look at how many old RAV4’s still roam the roads. Toyota is the most reliable car made, PERIOD. FYI I own a BMW X6 2023 M… but even BMW doesn’t match Toyotas reliability

I have no idea why people buy Rav4s. You want an ugly car? A CVT? The most uncomfortable seats in almost any car? Terrible tech? Go for the RAV4. If you want anything else, atleast go for a CR-V, minimum.
Such a lot of people in comments saying that they love Hyundai but I believe that 90% of you got it cause it’s cheaper only. If CRV/Rav4 would cost same price as Hyundai or Kia we would not have Korean cars on the roads 😂 I got brand new Hyundai Elantra back in 2018. 25000 miles new engine. 54000 miles new transmission. After 50000 miles check engine light was on all the time. It’s just pain. Traded in for a 2022 Civic, have 65000 miles and it works great. Reputation is built over decades, not by installing a big touchscreen 😅
I really don’t understand why people have so many problems with Hyundai/Kia cars - there are a few people in my direct and extended family who own their cars and that don’t have any problems. My sister has a Kia Sorento which now has done over 120,000 miles and still runs perfectly. It’s also worth noting that the fact these Korean cars are cheaper doesn’t mean they are poorly built. The Hyundai motor group is one of the few companies that make their own car seats - also they are the only major car company I know who actually makes all their own steel for their cars. These two factors amongst others are one of the reasons they can be so competitive on cost…….its not necessarily because they cut quality.
People have had the same problems with Toyota’s and Honda’s in this decade more than ever. They are no longer the reliability brands they are still marketed to be.
Toyota has been resting on laurels with the RAV4. I guess when they redesigned it to resemble the 4Runner, they also included the plan to not redesign it for a decade. The next RAV4 better be a home run.
the Hyundai is nicer then the RAV4 drives nicer but the RAV4 will run laps around the Tucson hybrid longer term my dad has a 2023 RAV4 hybrid xle and drives 850 miles a week for sales and he at 73k miles he still has original tires and brakes with the life time total average of car getting 47.3 and the cars read out is what we get out of the pump hand calculated over all those fill ups the RAV4 has been very reliable so far and with him driving 44k miles a year the car can drive 10 to 12 years with basic maintenance if you drive average miles get the Tucson hybrid if you drive a lot get the RAV4 hybrid it will out last the Tucson by a mile
Rav4 is terribly old technology. Toyota keeps banking on that owners don't care and instead just buy them for their reliability. Meanwhile Hyundai is leading the pack in innovation and updates. Plus the wait time for a new Toyota is ridiculous. I'd buy the Hyundai
In terms of ride quality and stability, the RAV4 is definitely the winner. The RAV4 has better ride quality and stability even than the Palisade. I owned a Palisade for 3 years. However, if you mostly drive on local roads(w/ good road conditions), the Tucson is not a bad choice. That said, I would still recommend the RAV4 over the Tucson. (p.s. The RAV4 could do a better job of preventing road noise and wind noise from entering the cabin-I think they left it that way to encourage people to buy a Lexus.)
Like why would you want to put these cakes in a car this small? Yams this scrumptious deserve better so buying a small car makes zero sense boo boo!!!! C’mon now!!! My hot gurls and I deserve the best and only the best!!!
If money, reliability, and resale value matter less to you then I can bet you aren’t buying a Toyota or a Hyundai. Not even sure how you could make a statement like that in a serious comparison.
No they won't. Neither is built in China. The Rav4 Hybrid and Hyundai are both assembled in the USA. A few Rav4's are built in Japan and some are built in Canada..........and many models of the Hyundai are built in Montgomery, Alabama. The hybrid model is built in South Korea, but NEITHER is or will be subject to tariffs. Get your facts straight before you ask ignorant questions. If you have paid attention to who is (or will be) subject to tariffs it's US companies who shut down American factories, lay off American employees, build foreign factories and then import their products from overseas or from Mexico (like Carrier, for example) or primarily Chinese companies that cheat, steal intellectual property or are subsidized by the Chinese government to undermine our markets. Just because something is imported doesn't automatically subject it to tariffs. 2 cars you may see affected by tariffs are the Buick Envision and the new Lincoln Nautilus, both of which are assembled in China and imported to the US. Hyundai/Kia and Toyota are not in danger of being hit with tariffs and both have a huge manufacturing presence here in the States and provide thousands of American jobs. Historically the threat of imposing tariffs has been enough to change the behavior of any given company/country.
@ tariffs are going to be implemented on all foreign imports not just imports from China. A majority of the parts for these cars are imported, and the manufacturers are going to pass these costs down to the consumer. The solution is to of course manufacture more of the parts in America but that is not something that is viable near term.
@@broodp4 Really? What's your source for that? Not speculation, BS or political rhetoric, but verified tax policy with implementation procedures, passed legislation, etc. NEITHER candidate for president ran on a platform of imposing tariffs on every imported foreign car, there is no proposed policy to do so, nor is there any pending legislation or regulation proposing such taxation either. Any car assembled in the US, despite manufacturer ownership, is considered US built and NOT subject to tariffs of any kind, This is also NOT subject to change. It's settled tax law. So cite your source, cite the regulation or cite the proposed legislation as proof of your position.
@@andrewg.spurgeon1736 the president elect has promised a 10% tariff on all imported goods and higher tariffs of Chinese cars specifically. The imported parts for the cars assembled in the US will still be subject to the tariff which will affect the cost of the vehicle depending what % of the parts are imported. Whether trump goes through with his tariffs is another issue but you can literally google how proposed tariffs will affect Toyota for example
@@broodp4 The President Elect has NOT proposed an across the board tariff on all imported goods, rather he has threatened a 10% or higher tariff on imported goods from countries who who do not trade fairly and impose tariffs on our goods in their marketplaces to protect their markets giving an unequal trade footing. It is NOT an across the board proposal. It is a targeted proposal to bring trade equity to our markets. In other words it's a threat and a bug stick to renegotiate trade agreements that are unfair to us and our markets. Since I am a manufacturer in the import/export business I follow this very closely since my livelihood depends on it. Nuance is everything. You also have 4 years of him in office before to see what he DID and those tariffs are all still in place and have NOT been repealed by the current administration. Future tariffs will affect China and other countries who refuse to compete on a level playing field. NOBODY has proposed or promised across the board tariffs on anything. PERIOD.
Even though Hyundai is new and very good it still cant match the Toyota reliability and the overall package and where the Tucson shines is still not a overkill. The new RAV4 with the new Toyota beautiful design will keep the mighty one on the first place.Toyota is going crazy and if the prices or the inflation will drop in the next 2 years I believe it will be very good for the Koreans and outstanding for Toyota,Honda and Mazda.

Look At Rav-4 interior it looks Ugly 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Worried about reliability and the turn signal on the Tucson but I think I’m locked in.😊
No way the Tucson looks better on the outside 💀☠️
How many points should the RAV4 get for being the top stolen car, across a few countries??? 😅
Such a lot of people in comments saying that they love Hyundai but I believe that 90% of you got it cause it’s cheaper only. If CRV/Rav4 would cost same price as Hyundai or Kia we would not have Korean cars on the roads 😂
I got brand new Hyundai Elantra back in 2018. 25000 miles new engine.
@@Ricky-mo6mvFALSE, every report put out by any reputable auto researcher always rates Toyota in the 1 or 2 slot.
The only problem is CRV/Rav4 are NOT cost same price as Hyundai or Kia. 🙂
@ Actually even that’s not true, but that’s just PR regardless
Please do a comparison between the 2025 Rav4 Hybrid and 2025 Mazda CX50 Hybrid.
Im getting a 2025 tucson hybrid N Line in steel matte gray color just waiting for my dealership to get delivery ETA is 1st week january cant wait
Any idea if the Tucson NLine has a sport exhaust like the sonata/elantra NLine?
@aiyannanadikerianda554 no it just has dual chrome tip thats it.
Why do you recommend the Tuscon if you drive average miles? Based on what you said, it still makes more sense to get the RAV4.
A car without a spare tire seems crazy to me!
currently trying to decide amongst the Tuscon, Sportage, & CX50 🧐
Tucson has that 0 down o% for 48 months. That's why I bought one now.
@ Did you take a look at all three though? Did you really like the Tuscon the best (good deal aside)?
*Tucson
In this case Hyundai has a better design and elegance appearance.
Long term the Tucson should last considerably longer than the RAV4. A CVT will not outlast a 6 speed automatic
*eCVT.
Tucson looks like it has fish lips on the front. 😂
hyundai tucson all the way.toyta rav2 is lol
I want a to sign the RAV4 is okay it has okay technology but I want a Hyundai
Can you guys review the 2025 Bronco Sport?
Rav4 is terribly old technology. Toyota keeps banking on that owners don't care and instead just buy them for their reliability. Meanwhile Hyundai is leading the pack in innovation and updates. Plus the wait time for a new Toyota is ridiculous. I'd buy the Hyundai
@lcann251 i own 22 toyotta trd but got major issues.i won't buy another one again
Tucson 🔥
luxury looks i go to tucson, but come in liability rav 4.
How is the Rav-4 a. Liability?
@@markanthonyllabore5131 toyota is not reliable anymore .because they have a lot of problems
Mazda for the win
mazda pu haha
@@박동석-u7u ?
For 2025 , Tuson hands down is better. They made Rav 4 look like a JOKE
RAV4 looks and performs awesome ! I will go for Toyota only.
How can bigger wheels get 0.5 points (19" vs 18")? Smaller gets better mpgs. Am I right?
Yes. But bigger wheels make it more stylish looking
Comparing 2019 model with 2024 model 🙀
I hate the Hyundai dashboard/screen. It's a giant glossy TV reflecting light into your eyes.
The Tucson looks hideous
KOREA < JAPAN
The Tucson's rear design is the WORST. It's just so dumb!
Best tucson ?
I drove the new Rav4, it is way better than 3rd generation in handling, it felt it could out handle old sports car from 2000.
You will not have an issue with Hyundai tbh. Toyota is overrated
2024 Year you pay just for Toyota brand . It’s not # 1 anymore. Hyundai and Kia’s doing much better than was before
Those point differences, tho..
Finally I give up my RAV4 hybrid order and switch to order Tucson Hybrid.
Can you compare the American counterparts? Since the rav4 and tucson will be 10% more expensive next year becaues of tarrifs
PERIOD.
RAV-4 it the best in the long run
@@johngrant1337 not anymore
I’ll take a RAV4 all day long!
@@David25522 i will take tucson all day long
Even though Hyundai is new and very good it still cant match the Toyota reliability and the overall package and where the Tucson shines is still not a overkill. The new RAV4 with the new Toyota beautiful design will keep the mighty one on the first place.Toyota is going crazy and if the prices or the inflation will drop in the next 2 years I believe it will be very good for the Koreans and outstanding for Toyota,Honda and Mazda.
We decided to go for a Rav4 PHEV. But it was a really close race between the Tucson and Rav4.
