Except for their ability to convert any biomass, dead or alive. Meaning that even death isn't a reliable escape, since it could just bring you back....
Sadly the flesh will bring you back to life the only way to prevent that is to destroy you're body till there's nothing left from what I'm guessing

As creepy and depressing as they may be, the WDB series entries are always very well written! It's cool to see the terrifying intelligence of the Flesh explored further.
Which do you think is better, the WDB series or the Walking Dead comics?
@@Kakaragi Honestly, the undeads in the story have become more of a secondary or even tertiary thematic pieces.
Nowadays it is mainly about painting how good and evil humans can be, which is neat, but that can be achieved with any apocalyptic setting (and good writing).
Meanwhile here the core story tends to revolve about how to avoid not becoming one of the "whole". There is an alien intelligence at work, and it isn't a brainless being unable to plan and act.
The stakes are different at this point. The walking dead is about people dealing with the apocalypse and then how to move on after it is effectively over for the most part.
This apocalypse feels inevitable and is more about how long folk are able to postpone the end rather than live through it.

If you were to destroy your entire brain, you might be able to find true peace after a suicide in this hell.
Can we even assume that their consciousness still sticks around, even after their body is consumed by the sun? For all we know, the end result could just be an imitating husk of what once was. It's possible that every person who turns will have their soul released, but I'm not entirely sure.

Considering there's creatures out there who can live with just a few nerves and not a full brain, even that might not be enough. It could take completely destroying your entire body in order to escape the flesh.

Something I would like to see is how other organizations reacted to the WDB's event such as the Chaos Insurgency and the global occult coalition I think that would be a interesting scenario to cover

When Day Breaks/001 is the only entity in the SCP lore that genuinely scares me because it is so Eldritch in design

How long can you live there, how long can they keep growing their food, recycle their air and have enough spare parts to maintain their base? That's the tough question. Sooner or later you have to resurface.
anyone on the surface that knew of these bases would lead the flesh too it like the others said, Depending on how much it can learn from sea life's memories, it would probably find the base sooner. Staff waves at dolphin through window *Dolphin remembers this* *Gets converted* roll credits. All the microscopic life coalescing would be the truly horrifying part of the sea in this verse. The plankton and Algae that's converted would turn the seas into a soup. The only saving grace of being down that far is the pressure and darkness, but the biomass will figure out how to get past that pretty quick
Trapped on Earth with an army of flesh monsters is bad enough, at least there's a small chance to survive a lifetime. But being trapped on the Moon with next to no protection from the Sun and with the most direct contact is complete hell.
Also, I realize it's not likely but will be a part from the Sun's POV since it seems to have some form of sentience? Heart and Sol did give one possible reason as to why Day Broke but there's not much else.
I remember the SCP which is the space lady that warns earth of threats, referred to the sun as her brother, and her brother I guess turned on humanity in one of these Day Breaks stories. There is a brief moment before the change where she turns towards the sun, appears to have a conversation with it and her expressions turn to horror just before it all happens. I cant recall if she warned Earth seconds before or not but it wouldn't of mattered for survival.

It would be interesting to see how SCP 457 Reacts to the sun , since he is made of fire and isn't technically physical matter he would be Immune to the sun.
Also he would be a direct counter to the flesh since he is made of fire and they would probably either fear him or think of him as some god from the sun?

@@Kirin5731 Yes we are very much aware of that, this would practically make 457 quite literally the light at the end of the tunnel for the survivors of When Day Breaks, and considering how he is able to grow with gasoline and other flamable objects and due to the fact there are thousands of abandoned gas stations in the world, he would be an unstoppable force against the sun.
plot twist: the other secret base had already been completely evacuated, no rockets, no humans, no flesh.
plot twist: the flesh wiped out all moon bases however did not have enough fuel in the rocket to get outside the asteroid field. Sun simply could not reach places outside the solar system because it neither had an ability nor his light(scattered or pulled to the black hole in the center of the milky way to be absorbed with speed so it moves parallel to the other side of the galaxy lololol

Can we take a moment to wonder how insane it is that so many survivors of the 001event can spend days to months completely alone while having the stress of knowing that you can join the flesh at any moment. If that were me I'd go insane in the first week.

It's highly likely that they won't just be let into the other lunar base, either because the people there know that a normal human would never be able to walk that far on the moon, or because the suits deteriorate and break before they can reach the next base. So here's for hoping that atleast the second base will survive.

I wonder if the distance you are from the sun affects the speed or effectiveness of the conversation process into the flesh. Like imagine your on Mercury and you're exposed to the sunlight and you're instantly converted with no need for the slow melting, while if you're on Neptune the conversation is extremely slow because of how far it is for the sun and people could get half converted and have to resist to temptation of the converted sides want to go into the sunlight

Wasn't it stated that "anywhere under the hateful glare of the sun" is compromised - this isn't just anywhere on Earth or around its orbitals, it means EVERYWHERE. Even a distant galaxy billions of light years away, once the Suns light (however miniscule) reaches it, means that galaxy becomes compromised.
Thus, conversion is equal and unforgiving.
Wouldn't that mean researchers in other galaxies under other stars be safe? If they had a base on Alpha Centauri-B, would they be safe since Alpha Centauri is a completely different star from our sun?

With a lot of full conversion I imagine, can't exactly be converted into a fleshy mass when all of your flesh has already been turned into metal! This is where I can see a lot of the Cogwork Orthodoxy and a decent chunk the main branch of the Church surviving, at least initially. Still an absolutely nightmare scenario though.
I have a when day breaks suggestion. What if the sun, after When Day Breaks went back to normal? How would the flesh monsters behave without their sun to converge people into flesh monsters?
Imagine if they just turned back into normal, and the only thing that changed was that we now have gross but cool flesh powers

I think I finally understand the day break monsters : I think in a weird and twisted mindset that it’s trying to bring every living creature into its own version of world peace, think of it , how can their be pain , wars , death, discrimination and mental suffering if everyone is one being , just one big family made 1000s and thousands of people in one giant meatball but that’s just a theory a scp theory.

Ironically, they would likely either get burnt by the sun itself, or if they were far enough away freeze makes you wonder how these things handle radiation

We don’t really know what it’s made of on the inside of its suit, so as long as it doesn’t look into the sun, like the first character in this story did then it should be fine unless it’s like a SCP 049 where the suit is part of its body

Since light takes just over 8 minutes to travel from the sun to earth, do you think there were any SCP foundation solar probes that can for whatever sci-fi / anomalous reason communicate faster than light? If so I guess the foundation had just 8 minutes to know the sun changed and to assume if it was dangerous or not
Firstly, a very, very good chapter, brutal and cathartic, really from the writing, the quality of the drawing and the narration, it was a wonderful experience that gave me many chills. An SCP that would be great to hopefully appear in the future would be SCP-2273: Major Alexei Belitrov.
The reason is that he was fighting a nuclear war in his world, in very risky situations and his military experience and personality in addition to the capabilities of his suit, then it would be a very active and beneficial anomaly.
As much as I love the Alexei Belitrov SCP, I kinda don't expect a WDB story about him at all, due to his armor suit actually being a living insectoid lifeform. I mean, if the suit succumbs to the sunlight because of this, our beloved Major-off-duty does as well.
Then again, if the insect suit doesn't succumb immediately or normally, that could possibly play into the man's backstory with PTSD in some way or another...

All sunlight is a vector for conversion. It even works if sunlight is reflected off another surface (meaning that moonlight is just as dangerous).

SCP-001 is a threat to the goals and desires of all life. Where we want to be a individuals it wants to be be a collective. Where we compete to be at the top of the food chain it competes to make the food chain all and one. Where we want to satiate our curiosities and explore it wants to merely exist as a single all-encompassing force of nature. As far as cosmic horror goes this is one of the best out there.
Imagine if 001 was actually here to save you from scp 5000 "it" entity or the thing that traps you after death.

Hey Mr. Illustrated, may I share an idea for a WDB video? What if you made a story about a single victim of the sun, and what it’s truly like to be a flesh monster. What its thoughts are like, both independently, and thoughts merged with others who have been converted by the light. Really appreciate all of the hard effort you put into making these, it’s by far my favorite series you’ve made on the channel.
So this confirms that WDB is pretty much The Flood from Halo, with some differences and added SCP flavor. Really fucking cool.

I would like to see if the foundation would try to use SCP-2966 to freeze one of the super masses of flesh or some type of anti matter device instead.
this story made me realize that scp-001 would be a great fanfiction scenario particularly as a crossover with halo imagine a ship like the spirt of fire from halo wars finding earth only to see not only is it not their earth but the sun is now a deadly anomaly i imagine the reaction of them seeing the scp foundation would be legendary as well sadly i doubt such a story would ever be made

I would love to see what Abel‘s brother Cain is doing in the WDB world SCP-073 reflex all damage done to it so theoretically although you can’t melt the sun since it’s not a physical object it’s made of plasma which is beyond liquid melting process would at least not work on him

I find it interesting the way the flesh monsters talked (I’m not calling them by their official designation) they usually at least until now just wait or their attempts at convincing others usually involves calling out to them for however long they are hiding but they actually seemed to sound sane and reasonable and coherent which they really haven’t been shown really interested or even capable of human like conversation
The irony about When Day Breaks is that a shit ton of End of the World to End of Reality SCPs have been left unmonitored. Nevermind just deadly Keter anomalies like SCP 409 or the fucking Builder Bear which has TONS of non organic matter to use.
The sun neutralized all anomalies if you read the original text. There are no more scps. They exist, but they lost all their powers.

When day breaks is the perfect scp. It sometimes makes you wonder if it legitimately is peaceful being in the flesh hivemind and their methods are just unorthodox, or is that just what they want you to think and they'll innately lie and manipulate you any chance they get
What do they mean by foundation bases outside the solar system? Does this mean that the foundation has access to ftl travel?
Yeah, in one SCP log the foundation have a ftl spaceship that travelled well beyond the observable universe

FINALLY more when day breaks
Great video! It's an interesting addition to the series because it puts a different perspective on the nuclear war plan. While nuclear winter does give the remaining survivors on Earth a a few years/decades of respite from the sun, I never really considered what would happen to the off-world colonies. What's also terrifying is how 001 can retain and understand such a large amount of complex knowledge from its victims. Previous videos just showed the flesh learning how to bypass biometric locks or using psychological warfare on remaining survivors etc. but here it's implied that it has the capability to launch and pilot spaceships.
I'll like to see what the Robots are doing during WDB, maybe SCP 2785 or 629?

great video as always, the terror of being trapped on the fucking moon with all your friends having been lost to the sun is a terrifying concept, on another note, i'm really curious about site 19's status, we hear about a warhead being detonated, but beyond that we know nothing, i was wondering if you had any plans to cover it or perhaps another large site such as site 17?

What's so horrifying about this scp it won't even give you the mercy of dying, I'm not even sure which one is more horrifying, this scp or Dead Space Necromorphs, but then again, you can just die in Dead Space if you hack off your limbs after you get someone to blast your brains out.

I've read somewhere that technically the entire universe is fucked if 001 activates because light from the sun can travel infinitely through space. Thats new levels of horror
Man oh man, I can only think of two ways out of this scenario: 1) A time travel device to warn Earth a few years in advance, or 2) an interdimensional route. Of course, that'd only give the Flesh a chance to escape, too. I don't think there's any other monster in fiction that I've simultaneously feared and despised so much.
I haven't had a when day breaks story in my feed for a while, i made sure to get them off my feed because my worst fear is being fused or merged to somebody and other people and i know commenting will just get more of these on my recommendations but it just feels good to let out man
This one's gotta be one of the most mysterious ones to me. So many questions. What if it isn't lying? What if it really does feel beautiful? What if the souls of it's victims really are still there? We may never know
Have we gotten a perspetive on the fleashy boys? Like what if legit they are the same old sane people and to them the sun basically has the same feel as 999 on their body and they really just want people to enjoy it? Forcefully or otherwise
we don't need to, that is what the allure is, not knowing if things will be the same in the flesh or not. It should stay a mystery.
