Thanks Tony, I love learning the options and how you teach! In this case though the resulting options sound so much thinner than the open chords so I would use them as secondary options where another player is playing the full open chord. The options are also trickier to get right with the muting fingering and my arthritis so they actually are harder for me to play correctly. I appreciate learning these options though tremendously! Thanks!

Yeah I get it totally. These are just for something a wee bit different to play but even I struggle
      Sometimes with the minor shape.

Great video on using chord variations that still serve the melody for making it more dynamic.

I have short stubby fingers and I'm practicing this

  • @MrXyzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I find this chord shape is not easy to play. Laying the index finger flat enough to play the 5th string but mute both the 4th and third string also brings the middle finger down so that it muffles the 5th string. Raise the middle finger to a steeper angle and the 3rd string starts to sound.
However it is forviving with these chords G, C and D as they allsound good if the muting is only partially sucessful(the D chord bcomes a Dsus4 if the G stringsounds). If you want to get a B chord with this voicing though, you need to get the fingering exactly spot on.

I have exactly the same problem. I'll try to solve this first, but I very much doubt if I'll ever be able to do it right.

Octaves, used a lot by the foo 's , sounds cool though. , really enjoying this , can't wait for the 'D' chord. That is an awesome chord to move around , plus all the triads it opens up.
