Hard disagree. Miata is a convertible, two seater, better manual transmission, better mileage, proper suspension, a 30+ year heritage and dedication from an incredible manufacturer with an in-house engine. Miata Is Always The Answer.
Having owned two Miatas and one Mini, a few months ago I sold the remaining Miata (Mini is long gone; it cooked the turbocharger) and I bought a BRZtS. I agree with most everything you said. All are fun cars but as much as I LOVED driving the Miata, it is a fair weather, drive only in the country toy. I bought the BRZ because I can drive it anytime and anywhere and have total fun doing it. Plus it is a bargain. Long live light weight RWD front engine manual transmission sports cars without iPod-ish instrument panels. They are a dying breed.
Finally someone who realizes that Tremclad grey is not great color like so many RUclips car reviewers seam to think its the greatest color.Nice review of these great little cars.So sick of all the BS cars that do 0-60 in 3 seconds, most drivers in the real world cannot handle that kind of power, just look at the wrecks for sale at the auction sites.
The Miata soft top convertible starts under $30,000 Consumer Reports states it has the highest reliability & also the highest resale value of any of its competitors even other sportscars 3 times the price.
Here in México no one calls a hatch back a 3 door, its literally a car with 2 doors and a hatch, you're not going to step up the car through the hatch... Its definitely not a door. Great video though
Thorough and practical comparo. Cars we might buy in the future! I same pick for me too, the Mini is all looks, Miata is always the answer but is too small for people over 6 ft.
The brz is the great compromise of a fun sports car with usable space for daily driving duties. And a hard top and an emergency rear seat. Big trunk space too. I have sporty cars like the s2000, bmw z3 coupe and z3 convertible, lancer evolution VI, toyota mr2 sw20. All are fun cars to drive in their own right. But the brz stands out as the most usable daily. Very cheap to maintain too. So it really depends on your priorities. Is it an only car, a sunday toy car. Or anything in between.
Been lucky enough to have owned both 😊 BRZ and MX-5 the overall winner for me was the BRZ❤ and it was because I could use the car more over the year was safer and could fit in it easily. Cheers from Oz🇦🇺
If the GR had a large sunroof/convert...I'd take it overall in part because of the looks.... who wants to grow up lol Nothing sticking up on the dash and so much fun and tossable~~ I enjoyed your video. I will keep my ND (Miata) and the reliability has been outstanding~
that would add a bunch of unnecessary weight to the car-no thanks. love my 2023 Premium as it came. I live in the deep south and even with no sunroof, this car cools off very fast in the summer with the AC only running for about 5 minutes @ max
The MINI is just as fast as the BRZ and GR86. It has go-kart handling and BMW fit and finish to go along with it's BMW engine, so it's here because it's an enthusiast sports car. I have a 24 and I had no idea when I bought it people half my age would pull up next to me wanting to race.
I daily drive mine in all seasons so suitability is a matter of perspective. Some people need more driving assistance in inclement weather than others, and these cars forgo those assistances in exchange for much better fair-weather driving experiences.
Traction is not an issue with winter tires and not being stupid. Ground clearance can be an issue though not any worse than some sedans. Both cars are fine for "normal" winter driving any other non-suv/truck automobile is capable of.
5:00 Not true, it has automatic climate control in the top trim. 5:43 also not true it is a wireless system once you pair it. After the first pairing it will auto connect every time
I am actually criss shopping a miata against a mini. Literallly, why wouldnt i? Im a enthusiast , enthusiasts dont have brand limits but what the car delivers
did. your driving include with the top down...oh...only 1 car can do that...he best affordable practical (?) sports car...didn't realize that practical and sports car belonged in the same sentence...miata is last, yet the choice of the day, I guess there is no sense to having an order.
Used with 50 thousand miles the Mini is a lot cheaper, especially if you use the savings to buy both summer and winter tires, and to change the engine oil and engine coolant more often to try to add more reliability. Waiting to buy a used Civic Hybrid would save a lot of fuel costs per year, with added weight and wheelbase length so it is not as fun in corners. I have 2 motorcycles to really get the weight and wheelbase lower for fun cornering.
@@Julian-nt5wh This video was about inexpensive sports cars. I don't consider the Mini S a sports car and I own one. Like the Mini, the Golf is a Hot Hatch, not really a "sports car" per se and I couldn't find a new one for under $60k with dealer mark-up when I was looking. Aside from the interior, I like the Golf R a lot but it's real world expensive for what it is.
Apparently the benchmark of 2 seat roadsters is the Miata mx5, so I had to try one to see what all the hype was about, I drove a recent 2020 with 40km. With 181hp. It was one of THE WORST cars I ever drove. And I'm extremely picky when it comes to a cars performance. At 6 1, it was way too small, my right knee was always pressed hard on the sideboard, seat did not go back enough, cheap interior, tiny tiny trunk, half of that of the roadster mini, sloppy steering, and rwd did nothing to enhance the drive. My expectations were sky high given how many videos compare the mini roadster and Miata and overwhelmingly people choose the Miata, I'm completely dumbfounded. It is what it is and I know how both cars feel. The roadster mini is comparable to the Porsche and Ferrari I drove, slow speed handling, if the mini roadster had like 400hp and all wheel drive to eliminate torque steer it would be almost virtually super car level.
Again, what’s with the music, almost overpowering the narrative and it’s not that nice to listen to for 21min

All are great but the Miata has the best combination of fun and sexy.
Yes 😊
True, there are some hot lesbians out there.
How is a car sexy?🤷🏼♂️
"the Miata has the best combination of fun and sexy." as well as reliability, ease and cost of maintenance, longevity, etc.
@richardmichael59 did you found the answer yet?

Having music playing for the whole length of the video is more annoying than the guy with popsicles on his shirt.
Few people know that the Subaru Brz has an aluminum roof and the Toyota Gr86 has a steel roof
Really?

Real happy to finally see a comparison between the BRZ tS and GR86 with performance package.

Maybe a little more subtle BGM... Otherwise, it's a good video. Keep it up!
THE GR86 WINS.
I HAVE OWNED MY 2024 TRUENO EDITION GR86 SINCE MARCH. BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED. I LOVE IT!

completely missed Elantra N in this price range. If you were only going for RWD, but you've got Mini here.
FWIW, the GR86 is now available with the shock and brake upgrades and without the odd paint job.
I'd probably include a GTI here and eliminate either Subaru or a Toyota, for obvious reasons. Nice review though! :)
Ya its definitely weird to include both of them

Well make that a Jetta GLI with a stick shift
You can't get a mini with a stick? no thanks

Are the BRZ, GR86 and Mazda MX-5 suitable for Canadian winter driving?
Why bother asking?

Miata is always the answer
There should be a convertible option or Glass roof for the BRZ and the Toyota GR86
Do you mean a fake convertible? Only Mazda is the only true/real convertible.
I've had 2 MINI's, 2nd and 3rd gen, I won't be getting this 4th gen. 3rd gen is the keeper imo.

45K for a Miata?! You can get a Mustang GT for that money. Get real, Mazda.
