I love how Nick went from "I've found this guy to take out the tree" to Machine Operator/Landscaper/Construction Labourer/Forman/Arborist
And friend
And likely more. He's an encyclopedia when it comes to knowledge of trees and forests. And even building ideas. Very innovative.
@@lizamartin4705 A true renaissance man.
It’s an obvious fact that Nick is reincarnated from Patrick O’Brian’s seafaring novels. But is he Bonden or Killick?
@@AkatarawaJapan He's definitely the underestimated supporting character that saves the day in some novel.
Dan, I never have seen you in a bad or defeated attitude, all the contrary you are growing smarter and closer to your goal every day ! My admiration for that!! ✌🏻
True. I can't for the life of me understand why he's separated!!!! He's a good father too!
@@lizamartin4705It’s his own business. I think leave personal remarks out of the chat pod IMHO.
We need more people like Dan in life. Everytime I want to give up, that is when Dan jumps up and says , " Oh No - Here I am to save the day ."
That's the wonderful thing about video. You get to edit your life and how the world See's you.
@@jonbutcher9805 true
So good to see this morning's video drop. It's like Dan disappears around the dark side of the moon and we all wait anxiously hoping everything's ok. Then out of the silence it's like "Houston, this is Dan" and we all cheer madly like Mission Control engineers 😂🤣😂
Take and enjoy your breaks, Dan. You deserve it. We'll be here waiting. ❤
He did leave a message on the community page.
@@thoeset Ah ok ...I just receive notifications about videos, so don't usually go to the channel page itself. I don't mind the wait though; he deserves rest breaks and waiting makes the next video all the more exciting. 😁 ... 'Absence makes the heart grow fonder', as they say.
I was a bit worried until I watched Chateau Diaries and heard (then saw) that Dan was to be the cameraman. Phew!
Yes. I was starting to worry Dan.I thought something must have gone wrong. But that’s the great great granny in me. Worry about everyone. 😋🇦🇺 here in Australia.
When Dan disappears around the back of the moon, it is always useful to check on community for his message ; he had to explain that to me himself... that's the sort of chap he is😊!
You say it's repetitive but I find watching you doing one floor at a time is exciting to watch but now your finally on the last floor. Also, you are becoming more organized, more efficient, and gaining experience, everytime you continue to rebuild the chateau. Dan, you are doing, one heck of a job!!! 😊
I know what you mean and you see it coming together floor by floor. Makes it easier to imagine how the rooms would of been.
Been waiting for this video to drop! I was like an addict trying to get a fix and nothing would scratch the itch :)
Same here 😂
Same!
Ditto….it’s been a long….long…4 days!!!
However….I love those puppies Dan
I was really worried - no Video from Dan 😊
Same!
Looks great! A chateau with a throne! ❤🎉
That was a good one
😂
i like calling the Place -- A Mansion . It just looks like a place in England .
It's good to see Nick and Cameron working with you. Monumental progress! Those puppies will bring such happiness and comfort. Have you named them yet? Thank you, Dan. 😊
First (and rightly so), what adorable pups! I don't know their story, but hope these lucky dogs get to grow up at the Chateau. ❤ Second, the toilet IS a Proper Big Deal, as I learned to say from Dan. And third, that lifter! Another huge game changer, and of course, the help of Nick and Cameron is priceless. What great progress today! It's just amazing. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
Nick and Cameron are wonderful. They are so knowledgeable and supportive. So valuable to you.
@@eighmeeloo well yeah he gets paid for this channel. But I love how self-sustaining that is
@@eighmeeloo I hope you're not getting your information from one of those short videos that make wild guesses. I've seen estimates from those that range from 50,000 to 500,000 USD. Clearly, most of them are wrong.
I started watching Dan way back when and he started from basically nothing. As he's grown, many of us have started to support him through views, likes, repeat views, word of mouth, etc. He's not living high on the hog with the money he's getting from us/RUclips. Hell, when he first bought the chateau most of his content was shoveling. We can see where it's going. He's got a stable place to live now, he's buying building materials, he's getting help with the big jobs that will enable him to do the smaller ones himself. He's buying equipment that will make the work go faster, and have more variety with the content.
That will bring in more viewers, more money, etc. And as of right now, we're here at what is essentially the beginning of the work. While he's doing the actual work, this is "our" project.
Yeah, I have seen a couple of RUclipsrs that makeup shit about Stephaine and Phillip and the Pethericks and Dan. They are pretty sour snarky snots and I suggest not believing what they claim.
@eighmeeloo that is exactly who he was not many months ago-he was not always Dan the Man.
Thank you eighmeeloo and DuchessOfFlam. Having seen Dan when he was working part time at Chateaux de la Lande I, and all the others who first met him there can remember his early days as Dan the Gardener. He’s learned a lot, gone through a lot. He has earned his success. In some ways i enjoyed his early days more.
You know it is a day to memorialize, when you can actually flush a toilet in your derelict chateau.
What ingenuity! Great lift machine! We missed out on how the pyramids were built but we are privileged to watch this Phoenix rise!
Wow, just wow.
We didn't miss it, Egyptian hieroglyphics depict lots of building and there are even block cutting sites with unfinished blocks right there in the quarry. So we've got the basic idea--it's just a modern wives tale to say we have no idea how they did it.
The chateau has a crapper! Definitely a step up in the Chateau world. Sleep well after the hard days work guys.
Nick and Cameron, you are the truest of friends, you rock!❤
I'm sure they're getting paid, as they should
They make an amazing team. 🧡
I’m sure they are getting paid too, but such hard work, not too many other than good friends would take it on!
10,444 views in 18 minutes, 261,000 subscribers! Holy moly Dan! You’re on roll! Thank you for sharing the best content in RUclips.
Dan is great and I love the channel, but Itchy Boots is the best content on RUclips. Sorry, Dan!
I loved the Outro, wonderful of you to make that boy’s day. Lovely pups, I’m excited about the higher level going in!
He sure was a cutie! Now immortalized on RUclips.
That was a sweet surprise, in the end. 🤗
He even had the sunglasses 😂😎
What A Cutie Pie!!!😊❤
Thank you! Charlie is my son. He is thrilled to bits with his RUclips debut. Thank you Dan for making it happen! X
Nick and Cameron, worth their weight in gold. Amazing job done exceedingly well.
Set up a rain barrel for the toilet water
Once he has some roof.
Oh! Great idea!
All the P’s..porcelain to point at, pals to help, a pulley and puppies a great improvement with a plan. Welcome back Dan
Positively prodigious point, marie.
And poo situation sorted! 😅
I hope those are Dans puppies .
Brilliant P's 😂😂🤣😂🤣🤣
@@Eye_Witness❤❤❤❤😂
Dan, as I tell my guys at least once a week, “carpentry is more about moving materials than it is the building itself”! Glad to see better use of time and equipment. You are streamlining your process and it’s is wonderful! WilPaul
The beams, the puppies, the puppies the beams and a toilet! It’s a big day and it’s never repetitive to see progress with the chateau.
Finally, a throne for your castle. 😉 Happy for you, Dan.
That should have been the title for this video! 😂😂😂
The New Kingy sit on his throne and look out on his new kingdom.
🎉❤🎉❤ OMG a working restroom. New equipment. Unexpected joys abound. Wow! Puppies! I'm in love. I've died and gone to video heaven?!?
And Nick is helping too! No words for how amazing you all are.
I am coming back to your channel over and over. I am so fascinated with the historical structure, and also your dream is "catching". Congratulations on the amazing progress thus far.
I no longer doubt that you will succeed and show us one day a beautifully restored chateau.
Thanks for sharing the journey.
If you get a septic tank, don’t spend loads of money on chemicals to clean it and upkeep. Just use a small amount of yeast regularly (I think once a year or something). I got that tip from an old guy who lives out in the country in Australia where I live and he serviced septic tanks for decades! It keeps the septic bacteria ecosystem all healthy and ongoing and doesn’t need expensive treatments which are a bit of a con job mainly!
My dad used to drop the odd rabbit or hare roadkill in ours, does the same job👍
We had a septic system also and there was this really inexpensive bacteria powder that we would just pour into the tank. Then we were careful not to put anything into the tank that would interfer with it's natural function. Of course the chateau is a huge compared to our home so that will play into how you handle it.
Wait, I was told to pour old milk down our septic system each month. Is that about the same thing?
Yes, treat it like a little biome so that all the bacteria and yeasty things can do their job of breaking it all down. If you put chemicals and bad stuff down there, it will stop breaking it all down and it will stink to high heaven! We used to empty yoghurt into ours to keep it healthy. Oh, and if your family eat sweet corn regularly, just know that it will be 'there' forever, for decades. (Don't ask me how I know!)
Does a Dan *#$* in the woods….No ( not anymore)😂🐨
What a great team of hard working lads ! 🙌🏰❤️
Did I miss puppy names??? They look like sweethearts. They will grow into their collars in no time.
Dan, you did say you'd never do a composting toilet again and you've been true to your word... congratulations on your first indoor toilet at the Chateau 😄
Both girls …one is Elsa. Can’t remember the other
Well this one was a feast. Nick and Cameron back at it, safer and more efficient gear, roof ibeams approaching, puppies and a toilet. I'm impressed. Starting to look like more of a house under construction than a ruin.
Well, a house without a roof looks like a ruin !
All I can say, Wow, Nick, and Cameron know their stuff
What a fantastic couple of helpers and support you have in Cameron and Nic!! My goodness how they kill themselves!
It’s not really repetitive because not only does the view keep changing so does the issues with each floor that goes back in!!! I love watching this repetitive or not!!
You're right! Better equipment, more experience - a little help from one's friends...you're on your way!
Soo much progress today!!
Glad to see Nick and Cameron such great guys
A working restroom, such a milestone. And moving those I beams as quickly. You are doing amazing work.
The higher level wall seems so unstable. There's nothing holding them up?
Love that contraption you purchased. Once the winch is in place so you can move it from one floor to the next, it’s going to be your savior.
Dan you are problem solving every day. Stay happy. 👍🙏🏻
Really great progress. I love your sense of humor, that first water into the toilet and then cut to a side shot with the bottle of water. The camera on Nick’s helmet… all of that makes your videos so much fun to watch.thank you so much for sharing!
Well Done Dan, Nick and Cameron, what a team, I wish you all a good nights rest. Love and Thanks as always K🇬🇧❤️
Wow quite the operation. Things are definitely looking up. Congratulations on the new toilet.
It is not repetitive to us watching. Can’t wait to see those last steel beams going in. 😊👍👍
Well, puppies are soo cute, new bathroom woohoo.. awesome new equipment to make it a bit easier for you..loved the ending 🎉😊👍💯🇨🇦👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
It's a toilet not a bathroom, but yeah, better than a hole in the woods.
You're beaming from ear to ear !!! Cute puppies!! We'll see ya tomorrow!!
Puppies! Nick and Cameron! Toilet! Dan you are making amazing progress.
Even though I haven't missed an episode....tonight as I sat here watching it's like I almost don't recognize her anymore....but that's not a bad thing. The Chateau has taken on a new look, and it's just so exciting to see each stage of the renovation. I just hope you don't forget to leave room for the staircase ☺
Well done Dan about time you got some mechanical lifting power, instead of trying to do it all yourself. You need to take care of your body
Xxx
I think people ask this frequently and maybe you don't do it on purpose, but it would be amazing to have a map of the castle (a rough one would be fine) and an idea where you are?how many floors still have to go in!
Amen on the long overview, just a rough draft would be great.
It's not a castle, it's a mansion.
The following is the updated Room Layout for the chateau as I understand it. As the chateau faces north-east and not north as I thought, I have dispensed with complicated compass references and used right and left as if looking at the front of the chateau.
When facing the front of the chateau (the side with two sets of steps), going up either of the sets of steps takes you into the ground floor Entrance Hall (at the bottom of the tower) with two granite columns. To the right is a large opening or double doorway leading to the Dining Room (home of builder's toilet). Directly below the Dining Room is the basement Kitchen. There appears to be a second doorway in the Dining Room, to the right of the opening to the Entrance Hall, which appears to lead into a large room at the back of the chateau.
It would seem that directly above the Dining Room is a Bedroom which is entered via the first floor Gallery which runs above the back of the Entrance Hall. As far as I can tell the Bathroom for this Bedroom is next to it and opens off the Gallery. Directly above this first floor Bedroom appears to be a second floor Bedroom (not built of bricks) with its own Bathroom off the second floor Gallery.
This right wing (viewed from the front of the chateau) appears to be mirrored in the left wing except that the ground floor room may be a Drawing Room instead of a Dining Room and without a Kitchen below it, but rather small basement rooms. The first floor Bedroom has a balcony with the two solar panels on it but on the side wall.
I have no idea what is in the rear wing except that the first floor (above the ground floor and basement) has a room (used as a bedroom in 1985) from which the famous bedsheet fire escape hung. I am more than happy to be corrected as to what the purpose of each room is.
The next floor is to a very differnt room that has to be rebuilt. on a picture (screenshot from the first or second video you can see it look to be built within the wall just above the next floor. I wonder if Dan is going to rebuilt it now, or jjust make that floor waterproof!
@@johnrogers1423 Below the West Wing it has a basement area as well, I think? it may be the boiler room (Or that may be in the Central Staircase bit) or ancillary storage rooms (Or they may indeed be in the central Staircase bit)!?!
Nick, the Legend. Cameron, the Legend
Good to see you are doing well and making progress. If you're ever so inclined as to proper water filtration, reach out to me. I work in high purity water filtration, disinfection and purification on many levels. I would be happy to donate my knowledge.
thats so kind of you
@lindajane3416 it's the least I can do. I remember when I was his age burning the candle at both ends. I'm in my 50's at this point and have a bit of wisdom to share. He deserves a break.
Well done Dan
Each week more more your living quarters are improving
A working toilet. Wow. I had not seen that coming this year. My god you and your team are amazing.
Ok it's good to see Nick and Cameron back at work on the Chateau. Finally Dan has some equipment to make his work easier. The new lift is going to be a lot of help with lifting the beams and floor joists up to the next level. Now Dan is going to breakout his new bigger winch!
What a blessing it is that you have Nick and Cameron to help!
No way!!! A toilet?! A few moments in and I’m already excited- wow, absolutely love this renovation, always a new surprise 😄👏🏼👏🏼 yaaay
That was a LONG wait ;)
If septi tanks is still a thing where you are there must be people emtying them now and then. They must be able to clear your water source too and reveal the spring
The white Renault truck in the background looks like it might belong to a septic contractor with all those tanks on it.
Nick is going to live forever. You are so lucky to have Nick and Cameron helping. So innovative. Dan you are the man.
Dan,Nick, and Camron my chateau builders. It’s so good to see the new lift. As you said it will hopefully make things much easier. Looking forward to tomorrow. Take care and stay safe. Love ya 🍺🍺🍺🙏🌈🌞🇺🇸👍❤️🕊🕊🌹
Nice to see how things get quicker and quicker with knowledge, happy you have a proper Loo now!!
Puppies are gorgeous and to be honest I’ve never seen you do the same thing twice 😂😂 still can’t believe your getting that place done!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
It may be repetitive but it’s still very exciting to watch this all come together. I think this is amazing progress. And nice to see those pups too!!
Nick and Cameron are brilliant workers glad you have the help Dan
Wow that looked very hard and heavy work well done for persevering you will sleep well tonight 😴 see you tomorrow
Nick and Cameron are absolutely amazing between the three of you the Chateau will be renovated in no time x
what I love most about this whole build is the fact that Dan is able to find ways of doing this without the need of huge cranes or standard construction equipment.. it's "Brains & Braun"
Amazing camera work today. Beautiful puppies, a flushing toilet at long last, Nick & Cameron, and to top it all, two wonderful boys helping dad. Thanks Dan!

Gosh, there is no way we can be bored in this vlog! Every day is something new and exciting!
I'm impressed. Beautiful pups. Great ending
Dan, these guys working with you, they are some of the hardest working men on RUclips. You are lucky to have them. Vikings of lore, the both of them. They remind me of Saxons of a by gone era. Good thing they are on your side.
You're always smiling and the videos are not long- but - that was a hard days work for everyone and it's looking fantastic. Brick by brick, floor by floor- you're raising it from nearly rubble back into a magnificent structure.
Thank you for sharing the journey.
Very inspiring!
I love watching your progress no matter how repetitive. Your toilet reminds me of when mine broke down once & for a few weeks I had a couple of buckets of water sitting in the bath ready for the next flush, it works, that’s all that matters 👍
Absolutely brilliant, a seat of power. It just gets better and better.
A toilet! Almost better than noggins! 🙂 I just googled that there is no poison ivy in Europe??? It was a concern on forest bathroom use. Great new equipment. Puppies are adorable!
I actually looked that up too 🤣
Do you have stinging nettles?
They can be an unpleasant surprise😅
@@daisylovelock9553 Yes we do but they're usually easy to spot unless you're stumbling around in pitch darkness (I do know one woman who managed to squat in a clump of stinging nettles but the way she told the story she might have been drunk).
Cheers to the young boy closing your video!
I tuned in for continued progress, and was as usual not disappointed ! You got a lot of s%it done, got a fancy hoist, and new pups. What’s not to love at the chateau today!👏🏼❤👍
Yay for a working toilet! Bit by bit Dan. Hope you have the well cover fully sealed as it seemed to have a gap that a puppy could get through - best of luck with the two new furry family additions!
Fabulous vlog Dan hanging on your every word the puppies are adorable so glad you got 2 great company for each other. No more taking the shovel for a walk. Great progress.😊
Nick,Cam,and orange pants man should get a permanent room at the Chateau. Great friends, great workers!
Repetitive in a really good way 💚
The building is so interesting, the progress phenomenal 💛
I ❤ it when Nick and Cam turn up bc they bring machinery 😅🌟
Great team work. Nick and Cameron are the right guys,, willing to work hard. The lift thing is a great bit if kit. And the need for it will go on.

NOW ITS A LAND GRAB
yup missed your channel
Boy we could use a bunch of people like Dan here rebuilding 💜😇
Probably not the first to suggest these but two things:
1 - demo chute - this will be even more necessary the higher you get. Even if you just dump the outlet to a pile on the ground there is way less danger to anyone walking below and removes any potential damage to the structure below.
2 - Get a shop vac! Stop blowing the same dust and small crap from place to place. Suck it up - dump it - gone!
Keep up the good work.
Well done Dan! It is getting better all the time!
I swear, I think the 3 of you could build a pyramid!….awesome team!👏👏👏
We call that tool a “duct jack”. Used for lifting air ducts into ceilings. I used one to lift a large generator muffler above an engine. Fun stuff! Thank you for sharing!!
Every step is so darn impressive. I love the work smarter not harder mind set.
Dan, you are doing a fantastic job. You always amaze me.
That lift is a lovely bit of kit. As usual, hardworking brilliance from you, Nick, and Cameron. Have to ask. Is it possible to sneak in a bit more puppies? And do the puppies have names? How is the Yurt doing furnishing wise? Getting comfortable, I hope. Ok, a few questions. Thanks, Dan. :)
Cameron is a beast!! "I've got it." Awesome. Much safer with the proper tools. No more primitive Pete... Good stuff!
I do t know where you and Nick and Cameron get your ideas from. It you are all amazing and real trouble shooters. Great work. Fantastic beams.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰🥰🥰🥰wow, some new puppies, how wonderful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Good work Nick, Cameron and Dan. So glad to see Dan has help. Someday you will all be sitting around the Drawing Room, with your tea, talking about your adventures in construction and how you are all lucky to be alive. 😂 Dan you didn’t show us your yurt furniture you got. Is sleeping in the yurt what you thought it would be?
The dream team are back, so slick like a well oiled machine you three work so well together. Dan aren’t you glad you knocked that extra doorway out where Cameron was standing! Well done all of you.⭐️⭐️ ⭐️
I would watch even weeks of just putting in floors. Every day. I don't care)) All I want is visible progress. It is sooo satisfying
I’m just so impressed by the logistics of it all! Three really smart men!
