I ordered your plans. Love your presentation !!What’s the steel bar/rod spec ? Would a 1in tubular bar suffice? i have a festool Kapex 60 mitre saw. Its height is 3 3/8 inches. So 3 3/8 + 3/4 work top x 2 = 8 1/4 + 1 in rod and 1/2 above and below = 10 1/4 - so centre at 5 1/8. Am I correct? BTW I’m in Ireland 🇮🇪 Regards, Paul
@@PaulMarlmountWoodcrafts Thank you so much! I used a 1” steel pipe. Mine was 36” wide with threaded ends on both. I threaded on termination caps and they work like nuts on the end. It has to go through the side walls of the flip portion and the cross member of each side table. All at 5-1/8 down, in your case, and centered from front to back. 👍🏻
No, I built this when I moved into the house and then posted it social media. Someone asked if I would show more of the bench and how it works so I made the video.
Sam Martinez Yes. Of course. It’s fine to the left. To the right is really tight with the peg board but works. The boards lay on the same plane for any cut. Right along the t track. So as long as the saw can turn, it’s fine. I am thinking of a way to put a hood over it to reduce dust overspray and keep the flip top. Could be another video someday.
It’s in the description at the very bottom. The 3D printed part. It uses (2) 2-1/2” hoses on a Y fitting. I recommend looking at Shop Nation’s channel. Travis recently did a series on miter saw dust collection and he is selling them soon. I got my shroud free and printed it myself but this was a few years ago. People have made better ones since.
It was 7”, the side pieces with the hole were 5-1/2” plus 3/4 on each side of white melamine. 7” total. Plus 3-1/2 inches for the deck of the saw. That’s the 10-1/2” I mention. 👍🏻
Hi Dave love this project I'm actually working on building a work bench now and I have the same saw my question is the piece that is between the 2 pieces of melamine that the pipe runs through how big is that and height is it 5 1/2 "? thanks
Do you know what the measurements of the top is? in the process of making one similar to this for my table I have the same the dewalt mitre saw And I am curious I see people make the top and the bracket then drill the bar then cut the top out So it's nice and flat that what you did here Good job
@@bobbyfischer7609 I just bought your plans and am wondering why the dimensions are 34x30 instead of the 26" you mention. There's also an overlap shown in the guide that I don't see here. Thanks!
The plans are approximate for my saw. Customize to yours. 26” doesn’t allow for miters both ways for my saw. The plans do for this saw. The width should be customized to the saw. Measure the saw width with miters left and right. The overlap is also a plan exclusive for a clamping edge. I overlooked it when building mine and my bench is flush with the base so I can’t clamp anything down. Added to plans in hindsight.
thank you for viewing us this informative video. watching from small island in asia.
I live the space saving aspect and will try to incorporate it into my shop. The balance question was well and simply presented. Thanks -- SeniorDave
I absolutely love the use of the engineer blocks as your stop blocks. That's awesome.
Great detail on chop saw flip table maths. 👍
This is excellent. I have a Dewalt Miter. In gonna use this idea.

Well explained… most clearly explained measurements for the flip top mitre saw station. Well done mate. Any detailed video how you made it

Can you cut 45 degree cuts with the saw set so far back in the table?

What fitting do yo have coming off of your miter saw?

Very nice, How is movement for the flipping made?

Do you accept questions
What is the dimension from bottom of white board to top of whiteboard. I have same exact saw

There are also plans available. Link in description.
The only difference is my pipe is 5/8 and I’m using 1/2 inch. Would that chance much such as a little coming off of 10-1/2
@@markanibas8805 Yes, all the measurements would need to be adjusted to get the flip right. Good luck. 👍🏻

For the saw area, 34” deep. 26” wide.

@@FischerBuilds Thanks for the quick reply! I also have the 779 so I was wondering why it was a bit wider.
Is that a DWS 779 saw?
Yes. Good eye. Link in the description.
Awesome. Thanks for this. I have been looking for a flip top for that saw in detail for my workbench
Since this is 34 inches deep, did you cut your hole for the bar at exactly 17 from the front and back then?
@@lessonswithconine2297 Correct.
