I have had a lot of experience with personal injuries and find that it's alternating between the two that helps bring healing for injury while the area is still immobilized. Once that period is over, you can begin to bring some movement into the area, and then the rest/active balance starts to play a role. At this period you want to heat the sensitive area as part of a warm-up to prevent strain and afterwards, you want to ice it to reduce swelling and bring relaxation.
Very clear and ticked every questions I had 🙂. Always when explaining something to someone I always like the presenter to take a step back and explain the basics to the user .
Thanks for sharing. Can the people who are blood pressure patients, also use ice? Would it not make the arteries get contracted and cause the blood-pressure to further rise?
My bones in my upper ankle got hit by a foreign obejects, it causes swollen & pain for a week now. What should i use to get rid of it. Ice or heat? I hope you notice it sir. Thank you.
I've sprained my shoulder and it's been 5-7 days so should i go for ice or heat cos it hasn't been that long but yeah it's more than 72 hours so I'm kinda confused what to use.
Doc You explained this complex therapy so nicely . Thank you 🙏🏻. However, I met with accident Diagnosed as Thigh - quadriceps muscle crush Doc told to use Ice 🧊 strictly ice 🧊. May I know how long does tissue take time to recovery . Accident took place on 5th of November 2021.
I have had a bad back for 5 years, yesterday i treid to some physio which just made it worse. Do you suggest ice or heat for this? I'm not sure, because although I've had a bad back for years, whats made it really bad is something new. Thanks
Thanks- clear tips. I fall into that grey area. My shoulder is sore, I believe from doing wide grip pull ups. Certain movements don't feel good and it's getting annoying- it's been a full month. At this point, should I use ICE or HEAT? It's well beyond 72 hours. I just bought a shoulder sling with a heated gel insert that can heat up to 120F for 20 minutes. Lately I have been taking hot showers then, after it's warm, I am doing gentle stretches- good idea? Pain is only 3 out of 10 and only in certain movements. I can do all range of motion stretches but some feel uncomfortable- feels like a bad strain or sprain. I have not seen a doctor yet or gotten an MRI. It hasn't bothered me that much- but I want to treat it right and not make it worse.
Hey man, I'm facing a similar problem. I pulled my back, and it's been 1 month for me. Has your injury healed? How long did it take after 1 month? What did you do to heal it? I appreciate
I'm dealing with my piriformis being sore even though I got it working again via chiro adjustment,, and it seems ice works better. Heat - even moist heat seems to make it hurt more, so I'm thinking the heat is irritating some nerves?
I'm experiencing alot of pain in my left shoulder blade and neck.I was told I have knots in my back muscles that's causing pain.Should I use heat or ice.?
I can train any other body part but I have pain in my bicep when I curl or squeeze on my right arm… should I put ice on it after training only? I’ve been told by physio

I’ve torn my hamstring and now it’s a week later ,so I have a lot of bruising and a swollen leg. First week I iced it, it is still stiff and sore if I touch it or try to lift my leg. Should I continue to ice or try heat?
Hi,Dr. A month ago, I fell down and my left shoulder got hurt .On the vary first day, I gave cold compressions and after week move to heat ,i felt it was going more worst than before ,should u recommend go with ice packs again, pls suggest I feel pain while moving my arm. Thanks
actually, this wasn't clear as regards CHRONIC tennis elbow. you said for acute injuries, swelling, etc, use ice. they you went on to say ice is good for things like tendonitis, but isn't tennis elbow a form of tendonitis? so what about chronic tennis elbow? ice or heat?
Bell’s palsy is due to an irritation of the cranial nerve 7. There is no specific massage for that. I don’t think It would hurt to massage the muscles around the face and around the eye. I’m not sure what treatment you’ve had for it yet. I’ve had it in the past and the first thing the doctor did was put me on prednisone to reduce swelling around the nerve root.
Great video but...I was right with you until the end. My mom is 90 years old and she broke her foot about 5 years ago. When the cold weather comes her foot starts to hurt again and she has pain. She puts ice on it. I was following what you were saying and I was about to tell her to use heat instead when the last thing said was heat could be bad. It's and old injury so heat or cold? What should she do?
@@dr.kevinbrown9251 i had a lot of pain a month ago after the injury first happened but now it's just this weird mild spreading pain and a lot of stiffness. This is an upper shoulder injury by the way. This week I planned on applying a lot more ice for 5 days straight and then switching to heat to stop stiffness. Is this a good plan?

Probably so. I always like to use ice especially if it’s a nerve issue or a muscle that can possibly aggravate the sciatic nerve
