I’d like to make some more videos in the future! Right now I’m more trying to fix things on my mini as it ages. Which some people don’t want to watch videos on.
I just did a 17% reduction pulley and would like to do as you did and buy a boost gauge just to see what the actual readings for boost are, especially with winter around the corner lol
Dylan man, Buy the metal plates to put over the front shocks on both sides. Prevent bulging of metal over the front shocks. Get a table to put your demonstration tools. I also have a sway bar, and under panel engine metal shield/protects under body.
I just upgraded to an ALTA 17% pulley and ALTA lightweight one piece crank pulley and i'm getting wheel spin on launch and a chirp on 2nd gear! I will post a video on my page that shows the before and after 0-60mph pulls and my reaction if anyone wants to see.
@@CooperCvlt I've also read somewhere about potential long term effect of main bearing damage due to running a lightened pulley vs harmonic balancer. My car already has over 140k miles and the bearings are already halfway worn down. I just want a quick bump in power and response for the meanwhile. But if I do end up keeping the car for a lifetime, which I might because it's a really fun little car, I will eventually rebuild the engine and have the heads ported. But yes, I think in theory the harmonic "balancer" is there to keep the rotating assembly in check. I think the only true way you can ensure that the engine is still in balance after you throw a lightweight pulley or lightweight flywheel is if you rebuild the engine with fresh new bearings, and get the entire rotating assembly (crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons etc) blueprinted and balanced. That's a lot of $$$ but by then, there will be no doubt about the engine being off balance!
Are you still running stock injectors and stock tune? If so, how is it holding up? I'm going to install a reman supercharger w/ a 17% reduction pulley installed since my original PTO failed. I've got colder plugs, coil/wires, shorter belt on the way with the supercharger.
Is your mini cooper tune after u put the pully on because mine I'm putting a 17% pully on but I have a intercooler on too and full exhaust on it and idk if I need to tune mine after I put the pully on
What size wheels and tires do you have ? I’m not so familiar with cars but I love the look of yours. I’d like to replicate it on my own to my mini but don’t know how you did it to get that look you have. If there’s anything else that I should know to get it to your look please do tell me.
Nope no issues! The only thing that may have been a result is going through a couple alternators. But they were cheap remans so I wouldn’t say it was the pulley’s fault.
Hell yeah I knew I wouldn’t need bigger injectors but people had me confused with the intercooler some people say u need to up upgrade and other say the factory s and gp in coolers and been proven the best but thanks for your reply can’t wait to get mine here soon
@@hunteryanske2803the only times I’ve heard people complain about the intercooler is if they’re using it on a track car that gets hammered on lap after lap. Normal driving situations you’ll be fine. Even “spirited”.
@@CooperCvlt thank you I finally fixed the issues on my Cooper. I think I’m gonna install the coil pack and reduction pulley belt. Does this require me to get a smaller supercharger pulley? Also I just need clarification, is the supercharger pulley and crankshaft pulley two different things?
@@lizzyvlogsrandomness1634 nice! You will need the actual supercharger pulley, the belt is only different due to the pulley size change. The crank pulley would be a different thing, which some people do as well.
Boost comparison starts at 2:30 after the install tips.
Please do more videos of the performance upgrades. No one mods these cars and it’s nice to see people making videos

Love the look of your mini looks insane in yellow and white
Thank you very much!
Thanks for making this video. Im thinking of adding the 17% to my R53
Thanks for watching! Definitely recommend it!
Thanks! Your expansion tank looks like ours did before it popped. Long live the r53!
Just got a new one! My first replacement actually leaked so I put this old one back on for a while.
After the tank popped in my old Mini and now it popped in my current Mini, I upgraded to all aluminum.
I just did a 17% reduction pulley and would like to do as you did and buy a boost gauge just to see what the actual readings for boost are, especially with winter around the corner lol
Sounds like a plan!

Already have the plates. Also have had the skid plate for years.
Nice job!

Very nice! I almost did the crank pulley as well but read some possibly bad consequences.
@@CooperCvlt I've also read somewhere about potential long term effect of main bearing damage due to running a lightened pulley vs harmonic balancer. Sounds like you’re all set! Yes I’m on stock injectors and tune. No issues at all.
Did you tune the car after the upgrade and that stock pull that you showed was that fully stock? Do they normally sound that loudv
No that is just a stock tune. My intake may make it a bit louder but I know the pitch reached a much higher tone.
Is your mini cooper tune after u put the pully on because mine I'm putting a 17% pully on but I have a intercooler on too and full exhaust on it and idk if I need to tune mine after I put the pully on
No mine was not tuned after. You could get one but from my knowledge it is not necessary.

Thank you very much! I am running 16x8 wheels and 175/50R16 for the tires!
what are the dems? eto on the wheels

Are there any support mods we should invest before a pulley reduction? So far all I have is an Alta Intake.
Intake is a solid idea, I don’t think anything else is completely necessary
What’s your wheel setup and suspension I’m looking for that same look thanks

can you link where you got the part package
Hi, do you know how many BHP did the pulley add?
I do not know exactly but probably 15-20
Nice, but facelift 170hp got stock 11-12psi .
Cool, mine is not a facelift so I would not know.
Why is your supercharger so loudv

16x8 et20.
you should stretch you tyres a bit more mate.
Actually I am, mate.
the tyres are too narrow.
Your mind is too narrow. Going smaller next to clear the fender better.
