I am making a frame that is 48 inches and 38 1/2 inches. I am having trouble figuring out the spacing for the nails. Would you know that spacing I would need to have?
Hi Alison I’m wanting to make a pompom blanket from a dolls pram what size frame would you recommend, what spacing and how many times around in total would you recommend
get one that's 1 and half inch apart yours is too far apart it wont look good unless you put double the amount of yarn on and your dowels might not hold it all frames i have ever made or had have been 1 and half apart odd number down long sides and even number of nails or dowels along top and bottom
Hello! I’m trying to figure out how to make a frame 45 x 50. If I do 2.5 inch nail gaps there’s an even number on each side. Would I be better doing something like 40 x 47.5? Where there would be 16 nails and 19 nails. I was hoping for a rectangular shape.
Chloe, 2.5 inches is too big a space you will need a huge amount of yarn to have it without looking like a net you would need to do at least 7 rounds and that would bee a lot of yarn. Almost all frames are 1.5 inch spacing and have even number on the long sides and odd on the shorter sides. This way patterns will work out proper. If you look on google and see some pictures of the rectangle ones count the nails or wooden doweling and make yours the same amount. That's the easiest way to get a rectangle, Chloe. Have fun and let me know how you get on Xxx
hi i watched your video on the pompom frame and you measures the bottom at 1 1/2 in but you measured the side at 1 1/4 in does this matter also when i measured the bottom at 1 1/2 in i ended up with 15 nails
you need to have the 2 short sides with ODD number of nails and the long sides with EVEN number of nails a few cm won't make much difference because when you put the nails in its not 100% perfect anyway.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel how can the short sides be odd numbers 14 is not an odd number and the long sides you said even numbers but you say 21 witch is an odd number
this is an old video if you plan to do patterns you're better with even on the long sides and odd on the short so diagonal patterns work out evenly. I do mention this in comments and all other newer tutorials. This video was before I started designing my own patterns
4 balls of either 50g or 100g all at the same time. You will have yarn left if you use 100g balls. if you make the bast a different color then you need 4 of the bast color and 4 of your pom pom color. A lot of people do 5 rounds on their pom poms to make them lush and thick.
Absolutely brilliant easy tutorial to follow..Instead of using wool could another type of material be used to make bath mats & if so what type of material..I'm a new sub to your videos..Absolutely enjoy every one of them..Thanks for sharing..Makes my learning alot easier. .
This video is great... but I do have a question. If you are wanting to make a large blanket - can you join several smaller blankets together - or must you build a frame for the size blanket you are wanting ?
I have ried several times but I dont think they look nice. Its hard to keep all the fringe either to the front or back, best way is a one off large frame, but remember the bigger the blanket the more wool you will need.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel If you are making a bigger blanket, would you suggest having bigger spaces in between the pompoms so the blanket isn't too heavy? Thank you in advance!
The dimensions are on the picture of the plan. If you pause the video you can write them down. You can make this loom any size you want as long as you follow the ODD and even ruling on the number of nails. EVEN number of nails down the 2 longes sides and an odd number of nails down the 2 shorter sides.
You can sew them together but the don't look so good in my opinion. Also the bigger the blanket at some stage it will need washed and wool holds a huge amount of water therefor real hard to wash as usually the small blankets are popped into a pillowcase to be washed to help preserve the pom poms. Iv see bed runners made from long looms but none bed size. There is one video on youtube where the lady makes one on a DOOR yes she put nails all around an old flat door and made a blanket on that but goodness knows how she got it washed.
Hi thank you for the videos I wanted to make xxlarge pom pom blanket can you tell me how to calculate inches and how many nails i will need for short and long side plz I will really apprciate it thank u
The same way you make the one in this video just keep marking along your batons until you get to the size you need. Sorry, I can't give specific sizes as everyone uses different wood. Make sure you keep the even number on the longer sides and odd on the shorter this works better for patterns if you intend to do the non pom pom blankets.
can the spacing between the nails be 1 inch when making the loom or will it cause a problem when making the blanket? and is it always the smaller side that has the even numbers and the larger side having the odd set of number? i am thinking of making an extra large one.
I have an even number of nails on the long sides it works better if you plan to make pattern blankets without the pom poms. 1 inch is ok but you will have very small pom poms. Your blanket will take more wool and it will take much longer to tie.
Sorry, I can't remember I gave the blanket away and due to osteoarthritis, I can't make them that big anymore. It only shrinks in by about an inch all around.
They will take a HUGE amount of yarn to make that size. You need to measure the bed then make the frame. They don't look nice at all joined small together, I tried and the look vey untidy joining small one together. The biggest frame i have seen made was single bed size and it looked like a door frame.
no I used the angle joints you could nail it for extra security if you want but be careful you don't split the wood. also If you watch the one with the adjustment bar you see I added corner triangles to hold it straight as sometimes it will buckle if you only use corner brackets on the inside and outside. You can use large metal flat corner angles on the back but i just used plywood from the back of an old picture, i just cut off the corners ha ha ha and screwed it onto the back of my frame. some people buy old big picture frames and use them. I hear they work well if its a good wooden frame from charity shops or car boot sales as long as the picture frame is rectangle as in tow long sides and short bottom and top or vice versa
I am actually from the United States and I am trying to make one the size of a twin bed and I am having issues coming up with the dimensions of the loom. If you could please help that would be great I also have tried to find you on Facebook with no luck
Im not on fcebook anymore not for over 3 years. You would have to make a huge loom and it would take a massive amount of yarn. Measure across your bed and down the sides to where you want it to drape, then do the same from top to bottom of your bed that will give you the width and length of your batons you need. Space out your nails one and a half inches apart around your frame, you may have to add some support struts inside the frame to stop such a huge frame from twisting. make your frame then cut a few lengths to fit inside your frame and screw them to hold in place once you do your winding on remove the struts and tie it all up quickly before your frame warps out of shape
How necessary is it to the blanket , that the frame have an odd number of nails on one side and even on the other? Will you not be able to make the blankets if it's even number all the way around?
You need the odd number side to get all the way around the nails. If you have an even number you will only get halfway around it won't wind back to the nail you started on. I made a mistake on my 1st loom and it took me ages to realise it was because of the number of nails. You can have as big a loom as you like as long as you have 2 odd-numbered sides and 2 even,
Thank you.. made one for my partner, struggled getting the odd side with the frame I'd made, but finally got it. And shes finished her first blanket using your videos 👍 Happy wife happy life :) thanks again
I put the even numbers on the long sides now. With pom pom blankets it doesn't matter but with pattern non pom pom ones it helps keep the pattern symmetrical.
Hi. I made my frame to the size you stated in this video 21.5 inches by 33 inches. When I came to puttin in the nails I only got 13 nails not 14. If I put 14 there will only be 1 and a 1/4 inches between nail 13 and 14. What have I done wrong?
I don't know the size is correct for the frame I made. Please remember if you are using diffrent thickness and width of wood you need to do what I did and line it up mark it then cut it. Mine is if I remember one and half inch wide if you are using diffrent width it wont be the same length as mine. You need to do the marking of HALF the width of your wood at the corner joint area then mark 1 and half from there. If you know what I mean. If you watch the begining of the tutorial again where I line the wood together to form the corner and how I mark it. I do state cut the length after you mark how many nails you want on it. As many people make diffrent sizes.
buy longer lengths It doesn't matter how wide yours is as long as you put that line down the middle of all the bits then put 2 together to form the corner then mark your one and half inches from the cross point at the corner lines. THEN cut once you have marked out the number of nails you want. I marked and measured then I cut the length.
In the UK I went into B&M bargains in the garden section I found Dalia stakes which are long flower stakes they were perfect for mine. Make sure there is not too many knots in the wood and they are straight.
10 if you watch my tutorial on how to put a grid on to separate the base from the top soo you know how deep to cut when the blanket is all one color try this ruclips.net/video/inc50_TMHns/видео.html or this one is after i added grid nails along the sides of my frame. ruclips.net/video/lJ-HrdcTges/видео.html
if you work in inches then its 2 inches with 1 and a half inch left protruding if you use thicker wood then you can use 3 inch nails and leave 2 inch protruding. the more nail you have sticking up the more wool you can wined on. mind be careful not to split the wood by using nails that are too thick. Thank you for watching Im going to show you another use for the loom soon.
This tutorial is the measurements for a standard blanket. If you want even smaller as doll pram size you can make 2 small blankets on this size of loom there is a tutorial on how to do that. If you need a care seat size join my free facebook group Craftytwunts there are ladies who have that size and will gladly help and tell you what size you need to make.
I have tried but not very successful as the joining poms are either too far apart and didn't look symmetrical or are too close together. I cut the fringe off down one side of each blanket to the pom pom but it didn't work it didn't look good at the back either, best thing is to make a big loom.
Hi Alison, great tutorial again. I was wondering if there is a reason the nails are 1 1/2 inches apart, could it be done with the nails 1 inch apart to give it more pom poms? I am thinking it may get fidderly, but I may give it a go. :-)
One inch pom poms are too small, and the smaller they are the more likely to fall to bits, especially if you intend to sell them. The last thing you want is to wash it and all the pom pom threads to fall out. I have made my loom with 1 inch apart but it is to do more diverse diagonals and non pom pom blankets. BUT I put color bits of plastic straw onto every other nail so I can still do pom pom blankets on it by just using the colored nails.. ( I haven't tested it out yet if you join my facebook group Craftytwunts and message me I will send you a picture of it ) The worst thing was the more nails the more likely for the wood to split. I split one side and had to replace it. But i was using 3 inch nails so I might have been better to use thinner and smaller nails but the smaller the nail the less wool they will hold. The only other option was to buy thicker batons but then the loom would have been heavier. I have an old wooden towel holder that has sturdy legs I was going to dismantle it and make a frame rather like an embroidery stand to hold my loom. hahahah
Hi, Alison. you video,s are great. my hubby has made a board for me but no matter how he do,s it i end up with 14 nails down one side and 23 the other side would this work. I think its because he bought 2 x 2 wood. thanks glynis
Yes 14 nails top and bottom and 23 down the long sides will work. You have to have 2 sides odd and 2 sides even (including the corner nails) to be able to weave a full round here is my tutorial on making a frame. Remember to add flat metal corners plates on the back of the frame too. This will stop it twisting out of shape. ruclips.net/p/PLrDyWXz56tb41XxScpZHvhmIpgmQwpCVE
you can make them whatever size you want honey. Just remember they have to have two sides odd number of nails and two sides with an even number of nails E.G the top and bottom even and the sides odd. So you can weave the blanket properly.
Hi I didn’t know about the different size wood affects how many nails so now I’m left with a frame with 19nail lng side and 14 short do you think this will be ok do you have a ruff idea what size the blanket will come out please thank you for the video
how are you struggling? at what part ? watch part 2 to do the blanket but do 5 rounds with 4 strands of wool ( use 4 x 100g balls of wool at the same time. then do 5 rounds with a diffrent color 4 balls of wool)
8 balls I now use 4 x 100g for the base and 4 x 100g balls for the pom poms it give a much better blanket. The amount of wool used depends on the size of the loom. with this one I had about 25g left of each ball. I made a slightly smaller loom to fit an everyday standard pram top and I was left with 50g each ball. A lot of people use 50g balls and just use it all up but its easier and cheaper for me to buy 100g balls, Not many shops around me do 50g balls. Also join this facbook wool selling group. Tell John I sent you. I now get my wool from John if you are in the UK his delivery is only £2.85 depending on the amount off wool you buy and he has wool from £1 a 100g ball some is even cheaper when he sells it in packs. I don't buy from anywhere else now unless John doesn't have it. Ordering from him is cheaper than going to the shops hahah. facebook.com/groups/1179878322051275/ I highly recommend him and I don't get anything for recommending him I do it because his wool is fab and at a good low price.
Hi i have been following you for a while now and decided to make my own loom following your instructions but i am not getting the 21 nails on the side and realised you are saying to cut the Barton at 31and a half inches but you have written only 31 inches so i am half an inch out and that is why i can’t get my 21 nails in i am only telling you for you to rectify it for others regards ceri
yes as it is still odd and even, when you weave the yarn on you go up and down then right to left (or whatever way you begin you will be using the same number of nails)
Hi i am a bit confused about top and bottom batons as you quote 2 different sizes 21 & half and 23 & half inches Please advise correct size Please as i would like to make a loom Thanks Janet
sorry for the confusion Janet when you saw the batons for the top and bottom its 21 and a half. The long sides are cut to 31 inches when you screw it all together the OVERALL frame size is 23 and a half by 31 inches
Fantastic idea, Sharon. My 1st loom was a picture frame I didn't strengthen the corners so it buckled. But if you use a good thick frame it will work well.
Can you make one for me to purchase? I am bed ridden so I can not do it myself, but I have been looking for a project to try and yours looks great. I would appreciate it if you can help me.
i dont make and sell them but if you join a facebook group called Deb's pom pom blankets there is a permanent advert on the top to their group for a man who sells them and he is very good at making them. or look on ebay and amazon look for pom pom loom boards
My uncle made this frame for me but it turned out with 14 nails at top and bottom and 20 nails down the sides. He says the measurements should be 21.5 along top and bottom and 33 at the sides to allow for one more nail to go along sides if this helps anyone struggling with it :)
I am sorry he had to adjust his, I do say the WIDTH of the wood you use can cause different measurements. When you make the corner and start measuring, the width decides where the 1st corner nail goes. I put my first nail in the cross-section which was only half inch from the cut end. I measured my two inches down the batons. If you are using wider batons you might have 1 inch before the 1st corner nail. If you know what I mean. No one has ever said the struggled with it. This is the correct measurements for the width of wood iI used.
Thanks for replying. Sorry I didn’t mean it in a bad way just had seen a few people writing that they had different numbers of nails and stuff I didn’t know the width of the wood would affect how many nails were on it. We got there in the end though and just followed your tutorial for the basic Pom Pom blanket, it turned out lovely now I am going to try another one of your tutorials! Absolutely brilliant just subscribed. Thanks again!
Hi what size did your blanket end up? I didn’t see the bit where it says different wood size will affect how many nails you will end up with so I’m left with 19lng side and 14short was wondering if the blanket will come out to small?? Thanks
Do you mean standard measurements I use the old imperial inches. If you need metric the tip is to use a tape measure with both metric and imperial just find the measurement in inches then turn it over for the metric. Or if you use google to convert inches to cm. Thank you for watching i appreciate it.
The biggest sort of frame I have seen was a lady on youtube used an old living room door. Yes, she put nails all around the door to make a single bed size. If you make small ones and sew them together they don't look so good. You can sew them but in my opinion, they never match up well. Also the bigger the blanket the heavier it will be to wash as wool takes a huge amount of water. It would take a huge amount of wool to make a big blanket.
OH no... Try theses tips if you haven't already. If you have a drill, drill a small pilot hole for each nail first. TURN YOUR NAIL POINT UP, AND GIVE THE SHARP POINT 2 TAPS WITH YOUR HAMMER This blunts the nail so it will squash the fibers of the wood rather than split it. ( I found this out after I made this video ) Tapping the nail blunt is a big tip used by many woodworkers to help stop wood from splitting. If you are very handy or know someone who is. Drill holes halfway down into your buttons where the nails should be and use wooden dowel rods about 6 inches tall. Gently tap the doweling rods into each hole and you will have a light weight frame like the one I now use. I hope this helps. If anyone out there has made a nail frame if you want to change it to wooden dowels all you have to do is replace the nail with wooden doweling, but you have to drill a straight hole halfway into your wooden button.
If you drill a pilot hole for the nails only drill a quarter of the way in to give the nail a head start. Blunt the point of the nail as described in my other reply. this should help immensely with your splitting problem.
My husband has nails and wood we are off to B & Q for angle joints. He is going to add flat angles on the back to hold it more secure he is going to make me a bigger one for cots. P.S he says the 9th nail on the left side of frame is squint.... Just kidding hahahahahah
Ha ha I bet it is squint too. Ha ha ha tell him thank you for paying attention to it that means he watched it and im greatful that he did ( that will be 20 min of his life he wont get back hahahahahah) Tell him to make you an extra baton the size of the bottom and top one so you can adjust your cot frame to make pram blankets. Put angle joints on the extra pice and you can just screw it into the middle of your frame and easily take it off again when you want bigger ones. Thank you for taking the time to watch my tutorials xx
Oh just woke hubby up to show him this he wasn't to happy I asked 1st if I had £5 or £6 pounds on him, He said what time is it? ME! This is lovely fancy doing this but need how to get the loom
My local charity shop has lots of canvas pictures in it, I'm just wondering if I can use the wooden frame in one of those.
Yes if it is good and thick frame. It might twist out of shape if its too thin wood.
the angle brace things are enough, I thought it needed nails or screw too, I went to make it last night and couldn't find tape to measure anywhere! looking to start today, have joined your facebook group too, thanks
good and I will look forward to chatting on Facebook thanks for watching my channel
Hi, I love the pim pom weaved blanket! What size loom frame and spaces between the nails have you used? Thank you 😊
one and half inches between nails 2 side rails have even number top and bottom odd number make it as big as you need it
Thank you Alison 👌
I am making a frame that is 48 inches and 38 1/2 inches. I am having trouble figuring out the spacing for the nails. Would you know that spacing I would need to have?
What size are the boards...like 1 x 2 or ??? am trying to get stuff together to make one. Saw them many years ago and wanted to try and now I can!
Do you use yarn to do that with or how do you do it
Do the batons have to be a certain width and depth?
Hi Alison I’m wanting to make a pompom blanket from a dolls pram what size frame would you recommend, what spacing and how many times around in total would you recommend
the size i use in my tutorials fitted a doll size silver cross pram 10 nails by 13 at one and half inch apart
or you can do 12x 15 nails to fit doll pram and a car seat
My dowels are 2.5" inch apart so my pom poms don't look good. What can I do now?
get one that's 1 and half inch apart yours is too far apart it wont look good unless you put double the amount of yarn on and your dowels might not hold it all frames i have ever made or had have been 1 and half apart odd number down long sides and even number of nails or dowels along top and bottom
Alison, is this size for a PRAM blanket please?
This is a little longer to allow for a turnover top. It will work well for an average pram
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel TY so much for getting back to me so quickly xxx...Just love your videos xxx
hi i watched your video on the pompom frame and you measures the bottom at 1 1/2 in but you measured the side at 1 1/4 in does this matter also when i measured the bottom at 1 1/2 in i ended up with 15 nails
you need to have the 2 short sides with ODD number of nails and the long sides with EVEN number of nails a few cm won't make much difference because when you put the nails in its not 100% perfect anyway.
May i ask how many balls of yarn do i need to make a blanket on this frame
4 balls of either 50g or 100g all at the same time. You will have yarn left if you use 100g balls. if you make the bast a different color then you need 4 of the bast color and 4 of your pom pom color. A lot of people do 5 rounds on their pom poms to make them lush and thick.
What size blanket does it make?
How deep do you hammer the nails in please
May i know please the dimensions of this blanket & how many string balls needed for it? The base & the top
Thank u 😊
The dimensions are on the picture of the plan. If you pause the video you can write them down. You can make this loom any size you want as long as you follow the ODD and even ruling on the number of nails. EVEN number of nails down the 2 longes sides and an odd number of nails down the 2 shorter sides.
I use 4 balls of 100g yarn I do 5 rounds for the bottom layer and 5 rounds for the top
Hi alison, please could you tell me how to tie knots behind the diagonal please. Suetownsend@hotmail.co.uk
I am a new subscriber, love you, glad I found you, making my loom this weekend, now to make a large blanket how to you put them together
Ok, so they are better to be used as pillow covers , and maybe rugs , , what do you do with the ones you make , what uses are their , thanks so much
Great tutorial
Thank you xx
Very nice 👍
Thank you
Hi thank you for the videos
I wanted to make xxlarge pom pom blanket can you tell me how to calculate inches and how many nails i will need for short and long side plz
I will really apprciate it thank u
The same way you make the one in this video just keep marking along your batons until you get to the size you need. Sorry, I can't give specific sizes as everyone uses different wood. Make sure you keep the even number on the longer sides and odd on the shorter this works better for patterns if you intend to do the non pom pom blankets.
Alison Russell's Craft Channel thank u
can the spacing between the nails be 1 inch when making the loom or will it cause a problem when making the blanket? and is it always the smaller side that has the even numbers and the larger side having the odd set of number? i am thinking of making an extra large one.
I have an even number of nails on the long sides it works better if you plan to make pattern blankets without the pom poms. 1 inch is ok but you will have very small pom poms. Your blanket will take more wool and it will take much longer to tie.
Hi how big will the blanket end up please?
Sorry, I can't remember I gave the blanket away and due to osteoarthritis, I can't make them that big anymore. It only shrinks in by about an inch all around.
Thank you
Do you have measurements for larger frames? Twin, full, queen and king?
They will take a HUGE amount of yarn to make that size. You need to measure the bed then make the frame. They don't look nice at all joined small together, I tried and the look vey untidy joining small one together. The biggest frame i have seen made was single bed size and it looked like a door frame.
hi just wondered how you joined wood, is it screws into each join?
no I used the angle joints you could nail it for extra security if you want but be careful you don't split the wood. also If you watch the one with the adjustment bar you see I added corner triangles to hold it straight as sometimes it will buckle if you only use corner brackets on the inside and outside. You can use large metal flat corner angles on the back but i just used plywood from the back of an old picture, i just cut off the corners ha ha ha and screwed it onto the back of my frame. some people buy old big picture frames and use them. I hear they work well if its a good wooden frame from charity shops or car boot sales as long as the picture frame is rectangle as in tow long sides and short bottom and top or vice versa

angle joints in the corners and flat angle metal joints on the back to stop it warping xx
Hi where can I buy one of the looms to make these blankets please ?x I’m in Scotland x
I made mine, Lee you can buy them on ebay and on amazon. I have a video on my channel how i made mine.
Do you know if there is a book you can follow step by step.
No book, I wouldn't buy any from Etsy either its a waste of money, best and FREE to watch on youtube and follow along.
What size is a dolls prom blanket loom & do you space the nails the same as a large loom. Regards Barbara Macari.
The same one and a half inches. If you put them closer the pom poms will be smaller but easier to fall apart.
loom depends on the doll pram my demo size here fits a standard doll pram around 12 by 9 nails should do most small doll prams
And shes finished her first blanket using your videos 👍
Happy wife happy life :) thanks again
I hope your frame worked xx
Thank you soo much mam .🙏
Most welcome 😊
Im making one slightly bigger, and I was wondering, does it matter which side of the loom has the odd number and even number of nails?
I put the even numbers on the long sides now. With pom pom blankets it doesn't matter but with pattern non pom pom ones it helps keep the pattern symmetrical.
can I use 3 strands for the pom pom or does it have to be 4?
3 if you want but 4 is better see my other reply xx
Ok thankyou x looking forward to starting it.
What is the measurements for prom blanket? I need to know meaurements
they are all different sizes, Tara
Thanks for your reply. Ok I need to rebuy the wood. If I get 1.5 inch thick timber at 21.5 inches x 31 inches that should work?
Is that what you used?
buy longer lengths It doesn't matter how wide yours is as long as you put that line down the middle of all the bits then put 2 together to form the corner then mark your one and half inches from the cross point at the corner lines. THEN cut once you have marked out the number of nails you want. I marked and measured then I cut the length.
In the UK I went into B&M bargains in the garden section I found Dalia stakes which are long flower stakes they were perfect for mine. Make sure there is not too many knots in the wood and they are straight.
if I'm using one colour wool how many times do i go round the loom .and how many strands of wool do i cut to make the pom poms please.
I love your video! Thank you for sharing. Do you know the equivalent size nail in USA?
if you work in inches then its 2 inches with 1 and a half inch left protruding if you use thicker wood then you can use 3 inch nails and leave 2 inch protruding. the more nail you have sticking up the more wool you can wined on. mind be careful not to split the wood by using nails that are too thick. Thank you for watching Im going to show you another use for the loom soon.
alison could you tell me the measurements to make a small loom for a pom pom blanket please
Thank you Alison
Alison Russell's Craft Channel
Are you still a ailable
can you join these to make larger blankets
I have tried but not very successful as the joining poms are either too far apart and didn't look symmetrical or are too close together. I cut the fringe off down one side of each blanket to the pom pom but it didn't work it didn't look good at the back either, best thing is to make a big loom.
Thanks.
Can we make bed sheet by using this method?
That would need a huge loom frame and a tremendous amount of yarn, It would be better to crochet one.
This will stop it twisting out of shape. ruclips.net/p/PLrDyWXz56tb41XxScpZHvhmIpgmQwpCVE
i dont know if u got my message does the frame have to be that size or can it be a little smaller
you can make them whatever size you want honey. Just remember they have to have two sides odd number of nails and two sides with an even number of nails E.G the top and bottom even and the sides odd. So you can weave the blanket properly.
thank u so much sweet i love what u do i made u book floding fairy house lovely xxx
Can goh nake a frame twice as big?
as big as you like but remember the bigger the frame the more wool/yarn you will need.
thanks great idea
your welcome and thank you for watching.
Hi I didn’t know about the different size wood affects how many nails so now I’m left with a frame with 19nail lng side and 14 short do you think this will be ok do you have a ruff idea what size the blanket will come out please thank you for the video
Yes, Chrystal, it will still work as it is still odd and even numbers of nails. The size should fit a baby pram.
Thank you
Pls I made my loom 30 by 39 and an straggling to do my blanket pls help me and I also want it big
how are you struggling? at what part ? watch part 2 to do the blanket but do 5 rounds with 4 strands of wool ( use 4 x 100g balls of wool at the same time. then do 5 rounds with a diffrent color 4 balls of wool)
Those measurements make equal nails on all four sides. You could make shorter side 28.5 so you have odd on short side and even on long side perhaps
thanks much, are there pompom dresses?
I haven't seen any made this way.
Hi Alison can you tell me please how I make the large Pom Pom please
With video you have with large one thank you
It is done exactly the same. It doesn't matter what size loom you make. A normal pom pom blanket is done the same on any size.
Can I ask how many balls of 100g double knit wool in total does it take to make a blanket that size please?
What are the sticks called please thanks
it is nails and the wood is just one and half inch batons
Hi i have been following you for a while now and decided to make my own loom following your instructions but i am not getting the 21 nails on the side and realised you are saying to cut the Barton at 31and a half inches but you have written only 31 inches so i am half an inch out and that is why i can’t get my 21 nails in i am only telling you for you to rectify it for others regards ceri
I updated it, No one has mentioned it before Thank you Xxx
Mine has happened to be 20 nails and 15 will this still work ok?
yes as it is still odd and even, when you weave the yarn on you go up and down then right to left (or whatever way you begin you will be using the same number of nails)
Also can you help me to get to shuttle
the shuttles are on ebay fishing net repair needles or use a small spanner like I did in the beginning.
I used a large mirror frame
Fantastic idea, Sharon. My 1st loom was a picture frame I didn't strengthen the corners so it buckled. But if you use a good thick frame it will work well.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel what size frame do you reccomend? I might try this x
Thanks
Good afternoon!
How many cm between nails?
4cm

How to prepare pomp pomp loom with STD measurements
Do you mean standard measurements I use the old imperial inches. If you need metric the tip is to use a tape measure with both metric and imperial just find the measurement in inches then turn it over for the metric. Or if you use google to convert inches to cm. Thank you for watching i appreciate it.

Hi has some one made a big blanket
The biggest sort of frame I have seen was a lady on youtube used an old living room door. Yes, she put nails all around the door to make a single bed size. If you make small ones and sew them together they don't look so good. You can sew them but in my opinion, they never match up well. Also the bigger the blanket the heavier it will be to wash as wool takes a huge amount of water. It would take a huge amount of wool to make a big blanket.
Every time I try to make a loom, no matter what type of wood I use, once I start hammering in the nails, my wood splits... What am I doing wrong?!
I showed my husband (he is making it for me) and he said he has done your tips. Maybe we bought bad wood lol
I tried to the pom pom blanket
Well done
Thank you for taking the time to watch my tutorials xx
can you add arabic captions by google?
down at the bottom of every youtube video is an option to turn on captions you just have to find the language you want and click on it.
Oh just woke hubby up to show him this he wasn't to happy I asked 1st if I had £5 or £6 pounds on him,
He said what time is it? ME! Oh only just gone 4 in the morning , he said just get £10 pounds out of my back
Pocket, I said no it's ok you can make me this for Mothering Sunday !!!! I am going to let him go back to sleep now,
Oh no he will be at my door to give me a row hahah tell hime to bring so loo roll with him hahahahahah just kidding.
do it yourself , go to woodprix page and learn how .
I made mine myself and that's a fantastic website Thanks.
If I remember correctly woodpix is not free
There's no need to go to another site, when Alison has very kindly shown us, step by step, how to make the frame.
have you ever put a heart in middle like you duck
Yes, it is the same principle as the duck Just do a heart shape xx I think I will try and do a tutorial on the heart too.
thankyou
thanks
I think she's Scottish!
yes.
