For the lady who asked how do you add more yarn if you run out before you finish the answer is. Tie on a new ball but keep the knot at a nail. That way the knot can be trimmed off when you do the fringe.
I normally save all your videos to reference later, but this one really peaked my interest. I am completely enamored by this one. Please don’t think me ignorant, I have never woven before, where might I find a shuttle? Thank you Allison, you are dearly loved!
a lot of the other blanket videos have instructions how to tie, there is even one on tying up the blanket. ruclips.net/video/G3Z_EfP98LI/видео.html slide along to 5.39 min this shows how to tie the blankets.
Thank you for ur reply it's just for the girls for ther prams also do u no if the shuttle will work with the pompom blankets and when u cut will they fall appart if I do it the shuttle way x also what we're the scissors called u used I can't seem to find them xx
I now use xcut soft handles scissors you can get them on ebay. Yes you can use a shuttle and if you shuttle tie pom pom blankets you tie from the reverse and cut the pom poms from the front so you dont cut through your tying lines and if you watch this tutorial you will see how I twist it so you can cut from the front too without your pom poms coming loose. ruclips.net/video/ttn2wz28yt8/видео.html
Just make sure you finish where a nail is and tie on more wool, that way there wont be a knot in the middle it will be at the fringing and you can cut it off once the blanket is complete and no one will know. That is what I do.
Alison Russell's Craft Channel thank you so much for your reply! can't wait to make my loom and make my blanket. would show u the blanket then! thank you so much once again!
do the nails 2 inches apart but you will use a lot more wool as you will have to do at least 6 rounds to make the pom poms fluffy to fill in the gap area around each pom pom. Thank yo for watching I do appreciate it and if you need any more hlep feel free to ask.
Alison I have watched this tutorial several time and can't decide whether you are saying to complete 10 rounds in total or 10 rounds of each colour making 20 rounds in total, I have put the subtitles on to see if it's clearer but just can't figure it out, sorry it does take me while to get things. could you give me a tip also on using all 4 balls together making the large ball as I'm finding that they get very twisted?
Lisa, each full round is made up of half a round of white and half a round of black. You need 10 FULL round to have a nice blanket. So yes, you will need 10 rounds black 10 white (20 altogether) but this makes 10 FULL ROUNDS I hope you understand what I mean The colours are done in half rounds.
Do we tie the edges twice just so babies won't pull it out? I mean if I'm making it for my self or an adult, do I still tie twice? Does it give it a longer life?
Yes, and I would still recommend it for adult size it keeps the strands in and you never know if a toddler will get access to it so much better to keep the blanket as safe as possible.
love this blanket it's beautiful I'm going to have a go today. can I just ask... I've seen a picture of a non pom pom blanket and it the normal 2 colours wrapped round the board however when looking at it from the top it is white with a blue boarder round the outside. each corner tassel is also blue and the rest are white. I can't figure out how to do it. I'd love a tutorial pretty please x
I did one when I was playing around with my loom i didn't take any pics so the one you saw wasn't mine if you join my facebook group craftytwunts and private message me I will tell you how its done.
Best to make a big loom. I get asked in the comments of these blankets all the time. It's better if you make a large loom a lot less hassle sewing loads together only to find they don't look too nice. Thank you for watching I appreciate it.
I dont make and sell them I'm sorry but you can buy them esily off ebay or amazon type in pom pom loom boards the shuttles are on ebay too type in fishing net repair shuttles or net repair needles
I'm going to attempt to make one of these. However I was hoping to use 3 colours. Is it possible to do with 3? would it be same concept i.e 1st colour wrap around every 3rd pin, second colour would be wrapped around every second pin, third colour wrapped around every pin?
4 x 100g of one color and 4 x100g balls of the other should give you 2 standard size pram topper blanket. I use a demo size loom so its smaller. Average loom is around 21 x 26 nails
You can make a loom frame any size Doreen. I have a tutorial on my channel how to make a pom pom loom frame it is quite easy to follow and I made mine for less than £5
on my channel are only the one i made up if you also want more look for a lady called Jackie gregory on youtube she designs amazing blankets for pom pom looms she started a channel showing her designs and how to do them.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel . I made two Pom-Pom blankets last year but I individually tied and knotted the pom poms. I'm going to try the technique you shown the twist Slipknot instead of individually hand tying each pom pom ,when I first seen it I was scared that when u cut the Pom-Pom the knot would come untied, but I see now it will hold. What a wonderful ideal and makes things a lot quicker and boy does it save your fingers OUCH!. .. do you suggest tying the regular pom pom blankets from the front or the back ?Thank you Alison for all the wonderful videos I sure enjoy watching you make these blankets you are Beyond talented God bless
you could if made thinner or even if you had a loom with the nails at ONE inch apart I was tinkering with the idea of a new loom with closer nails to make bigger ones with closer design. I think I will make a new loom just for that.
experiment with less rounds I did 5 each making 10 in total try 3 each making 6 rounds in total and see In fact I might do a quick tutorial as my sister gave me lots of wool she had in her attic. And a very kind subscriber sent me a gift card to buy wool from our UK hobbycraft shop to keep me going too.
most frames are one and a half inches apart. if you intend to sell your blankets or want more fluffy pom poms do 6 rounds for the pom poms this will make them take up some of the gap in between each one.

Just make sure you finish where a nail is and tie on more wool, that way there wont be a knot in the middle it will be at the fringing and you can cut it off once the blanket is complete and no one will know. That is what I do.

Mam how much time needed to complete this if I want to make shawl size blanket
RUclips user, You will need a bigger frame to make a shawl size. The time depends on how quickly you can wind on the yarn then tie it.
How many balls of wool would I use to make a larger blanket than you
4 x 100g of one color and 4 x100g balls of the other should give you 2 standard size pram topper blanket. I use a demo size loom so its smaller. Average loom is around 21 x 26 nails

I notice you usually twist the yarn when you tie it " the twist slip knot " you never on this blanket...can I ask why you didnt?
I probably just forgot, with this one the loop is enough but with pom pom ones I always make sure I twist the loop for extra security.
