    Hello All,
Thank you for the great response to this video. I wanted to write a short comment to let you know that Erich Dusdal, the man who deserves sole credit for the genie in a bottle concept, left this world last night at the age of 92. A veteran of WWII and a consummate outdoors-man, Erich could often be seen deploying his "genie in a bottle". His claim was that he could bar fish all year and loose only 2 or 3 weights, compared to the dozens that are typically lost by bar fishermen. When Erich's family learned the video had been viewed nearly 400 000 times, they were blown away.
Thank you Erich, and God Speed!!

Sorry to hear. Loved the video, definitely using this in our spot on the Columbia River in Oregon. When fishing there we use 6-8 oz weights and pretty much 1/2 the time you lose your weight because of break off. Thank you and Erich for the great advice.

lost a rapalla floater on a snag snagged there at same spot 5 times then snagged one I could not retrieve, at least I pulled out 25 or so rainbows with lure before I lost it. 3 of them 14 inches or bigger.

Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ruclips.net/user/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

    Cool trick!
For recovering your bottle in case this trick doesnt work, just tie a second line to the bottle to reel it back on shore! It could even have greater chance to succeed if you have 2 reel/2 persons working that snag hook in different angle

I do a version of that by letting a lot of line out, and then in one motion, quickly flipping the bail closed, keeping the rod tip close to the water to keep as much resistance on the line as possible, (works much better fly fishing), and ripping the rod away from the direction of the snag. Same concept as Capt Quinn. Quinn’s method is very smart and realistic, sadly because of all the trash that gets thrown a long the shore by other idiots. Great video, great idea. Keep it going Captain
