The only downside to all of these techniques is that while you are busy getting your lure un-stuck, huge fish are jumping out of the water behind you. Example at 7:06 :)

Thanks for the tips. I only knew the straight pull method. Which more often then not leaves me cutting my line, unless I get lucky and pull free, or sometimes bend hook out. I've considered tying a flourocarbon leader so could actually break the line if needed. ( I use 50lb braid, which I've been unable to break in a Kakay, even while anchored. )

you know i have lots of experience with snagged lures and i found out that the best way to get them out of trees or bushes is to pull on your line until either the lure is out your not gives or the branch brakes so far it has worked every time with the knot i use (the uni knot)

I use this method of when getting hung up I troll over to where the bait is and reel all the way down and troll around the spot where its hung up and it pops free. If I loose a 8$ tungsten weight I am going in for it .100$ in just weights not trying to loose not one of them . I think everyone has their own way of getting un snagged . Sometimes if its a simple set up and I have 12 other rods sitting on the deck of the boat I will just cut line get as much of it as I can out of the water and power on. I spend more time getting whoever I might be fishing with un snagged

I remember one time last summer I was getting frustrated while fishing after being skunked a few days in a row. I had one of those berkley swimbaits with the build in jig hook on a medium fast rod with nice stretchy 10lb mono. It got snagged up in a tree and I tried the other tricks but they didn't work. So i started yanking on it out of frustration not noticing that my rod, line, and the tree were all loading up and when it finally snapped free it came flying back so fast I didn't have time to blink. My friend heard it hit my skin from 50 yards away and I had a red swimbait print on my neck the rest of the day. Could've went badly but it was hilarious.

haha this helps me out alot.... I catfish most of the time and I was using a two or three ounce weight and I got the weight stuck up in the tree and then when I pull back on it really hard it hit me in the head and almost knocked me out I had a really big ass so I think I'm going to start doing this more often this is a good technique to use bass fishing or catfishing

Yep, it's that "spring effect" with tree limbs. Hard to believe branch, which fires AWAY from you when the lure frees, actually fires the lure BACK at you at mach 80!

lol, my problem was i was tree snagged at a high angle. wrapped the line around my hand(with cloth) and just walked until it snapped. Normally the line breaks and everythings all dandy...This time the branch broke and my rig became a bullet XD

Jake Thornbury I done the same thing. Yanked it out of a tree an next thing knew It was in my eye lid. My sisters started crying an my dad flipped out. Didn't know how bad it was till I realized have a centimeter of my eye lid was ripped

Fred B Yes, plug knockers do work. My point was that you won't need them if you master these techniques.
