    • @garneroutlaw1
      @garneroutlaw1 3 года назад

      I have never rigged my tubes like this. I used leaded heads, run it up through the hollow body, and pop the eyelet through about halfway up the tube. It gives the bait an injured fish motion. Drives fish crazy. I have found it best to fish this bait on steep drop offs. I've hit huge walleys, northern, bass, you name it. Unfortunately they don't make tube worms in the right colors anymore. I used to use a solid, matte light gold. Best color IMHO.

    The Trokar TK190 is the best Texas rig hook for a tube on the market, I go through tubes a ton less now I started using them and the great thing is Eagle Claw makes the Trokar and they also have the regular version without the Trokar point and they are way cheaper but they are the same exact hook just different points and the great thing is that the hooks aren’t just a one trick pony because they are also awesome hooks for beaver style baits! They have saved me a lot of money on tubes by switching to the TK190 or the regular Eagle Claw!

    For river fishing I always temper my jighead hooks with a torch just slightly. The hook will straighten out easier, so if you get hung on rocks you pull it straight, bend it back and go again. Haven't had a bass straighten one out before, but there's a risk of that, so I don't use this method for stillwater.

    That Eagle Claw high-performance hook looks similar in shape to a shiner hook (only shiner hooks don't have that clip). I've also heard of guys stuffing the tube weightless so it floats and you can fish it like a walking-style topwater lure.

    Glenn.. Several years ago, Berkley did a study. The profile, which I see as an inverted tube, was the best profile for attracting bass strikes. In order to sell lures, Berkley must appeal to buyers/human customers, as well as fish. An inverted tube profile is a hard sell to a lure buyer. It must have claws etc which the bass take off first etc in order to sell., so Berkley went with human appeal rather than fish appeal in order to market.. Unfortunately I am 88 and likely will ever be on the water again. I do have one rod rigged with a tube inverted with polystyrene in the head , to depict this profile. Hopefully, I will be physically able to test my theory.

    If you wanted to keep the tube from sliding down with the last set up you showed, could you add a dab of super glue to keep the tube in place? Great videos for this beginner fisher!! Thanks!

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  6 лет назад

      Yes, that could work. The trade-off is that superglue hardens the plastic, which shortens the lifespan of it.

    What about fishing this on an ultra light rod for 2-6 lb line very limber. And if so what size tube should I use and and max weight on my rod I’m specifically using is for I think max weight is 1/16 or 1/8 and line rating stated before 2-6lb line.

      BassResource - Bass Fishing Techniques I’ve got the Shakespeare micro light ultra light 7’6” 2-6lb line 1/32-1/8oz rod with a 2000 size reel with 6lb mono line and is like a panfishing style rod due to the whippyness if you will call it and so I’d think it be hard to set the hook that’s why I’m asking.

    Can you send me a link to where you get the weedless tube hooks? I can find them with a 90 degree eye but not the 60 degree you are using. Thanks!

    What's the best weight to use for the jig?

    • @wickedbassn
      @wickedbassn 8 лет назад

      +Joe Palmer I normally use 1/8, 1/4 and 3/8. Most of the time using 1/4 oz. I love using power team lures "food chain tube" in susky slayer and green pumpkin of course!

    Do you tie braid directly to the hook? Or put some flourocarbon on it?

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  6 лет назад +1

      I only use braid when I'm pitching the tubes into heavy cover, and I tie directly.

    • @Redreefmedia
      @Redreefmedia 6 лет назад

      Does line color matter? The reel I want to use is spooled with yellow braid with a 2 foot fluorocarbon leader.. Helps me detect subtle takes of worms. My other baitcaster is a dedicated frog rod with green 65# braid that I blast into the worst slop Florida has to offer. I imagine that would be a better choice.

    • @bassresource

      I prefer clear fluoro, and green or black braid. I think yellow is too bright and unnatural.

      BassResource Yeah I've been looking around on both their websites and it looks like they have discontinued the ones with a wire guard that latches under the hook. Sorry if I'm being dense and missing something really obvious but I've been looking for those jigs ever since I saw your video a month ago

    is it possible to use ewg hooks?

    • @bassresource
      @bassresource  7 лет назад

      With a bullet weight, yes. It's not ideal, however. You need something to help prevent it from sliding down the hook and balling up during the hookset, which is a common problem with ewg hooks on tubes.
