      @@DJDelta0 at least he made the playoffs. I like the Jaguars a lot, and they never reach the post season with exception of one season. O'Brian made the playoffs semi-regularly. I never claimed he was a great coach, but he was not a disaster. I even pointed out in my original comment that he is incapable of winning a playoff game.

    • @connorrivers995
      @connorrivers995 4 года назад +2

      @@jacksonbeck5747 I disagree. The only reasons his team have done well has been because of high end talent in the form of Watson, Watt, Hopkins, Clowney, the reseeding years of Aaron Foster and Carlos Hyde, half a year of the honey badger and Kendall Fuller whenever he wasn't in the IR. His preparation is terrible, He can't build a defense to save his life and he forces his star players because of pettiness. The only reason he made the playoffs in 2015 and 2016 was because Andrew Luck spent half a year in rehab and because the Colts had no offensive line, allowing the Texans to reach the playoffs at 9-7. And if Deshaun Watson hadn't bailed out his ass then the Texans would've lost to the Bills. 2017 was Bill O'Brien's true face as a coach. Remember, even with Watson starting the team only started 3-4. Once Watson was lost for the year and he had to rely on T.J. Yates they went 1-8. He is Marvin Levi at his best and Hue Jackson at his worst. How can he can excuse settling for three on fourth and one inside the Chiefs 20 and yet run a fake punt on his own 32 on fourth and four? Oh that's right, he said that he didn't have a play for that kind of situation. HOW? HOW DO YOU NOT EVEN HAVE A QUARTERBACK SNEAK FOR THAT SITUATION? And this isn't just the Texans. Remember when he was the head coach at Penn State? His combined record was 15-9, with his final season being 7-5. This guy was been saved by the better talent of the team around him and the fact that his team played in the worst division in the NFL for five years. That isn't going to cut it anymore. With the Colts and Titans rebounding and with a receiving corps led by often injured Brandon Cooks and Kendall Fuller and the average skills of Kenny Stills and Randall Cobb, no secondary to speak of, one of the worst offensive lines in the league and J.J. Watt struggling through injury don't expect a return to the playoffs or hell another winning season as long as his still there.

      @Erik Lerström I think the extremity of the record gives us enough of an indication that Matt Stafford regularly gets outplayed by elite QBs. He's just such a streaky QB. The more I look at the stats, the less certain I am of his true value in games that aren't one-possession games. Looking at it game by game, even nowadays, when he is vastly improved, he still will flip flop between good and bad games. And growing up in a Packers home, I've seen enough live film of him to have seen him have a good and bad game in the same three-hour stretch. I don't think Stafford is the quarterback they need, but he is arguably the most fitting, especially for the Jim Caldwell era. He's above average on a year-to-year aggregate, but he flashes brilliance and feels the floor drop out from under him in such a breakneck back-and-forth that I wouldn't be surprised if Ford Field is a consistent source of fan neck injuries. On the bright side, he's so good at back-and-forth that I'm sure if he retires soon, he could still have a promising tennis career.

    In 1978, the NFL went to a 16-game schedule. In the 43 seasons since, Detroit has lost fewer than 10 games in 21 of them. And one of _those_ was 1982, when a strike reduced the season to 9 games.

      He said 50 years. That the Lions still haven't won the NFC championship and are currently mired in sub-mediocrity means that the "curse" was ultimately completely meaningless. The Curse of the Bambino was huge precisely because 1. the Red Sox were an elite organization that was *supposed* to be winning championships, and 2. it was always some crazy 11th-hour freak coincidence that denied them. Cursing the Lions was like shooting a man in the head as he's falling into a volcano.
