A championship is supposed to be one of the most cherished things a city could ever embrace. Sometimes it takes a long time to get one. For Houston, it took a while. Over twenty years, in fact. The celebrations that ensue are memories that can last for a lifetime.
Then again, so are deals with the devil. Let's just say that this city may have made such a pact for the 2017 World Series. It's the only logical explanation for how things have gone south for their sports teams since then. When will the payment end? That's up for the succubus to decide, isn't it?

I was a life long, suffering Astros fan. Went to my 1st game in 1979. I am nearly 50. When they won the Series in '17, it meant the world to me. My husband died from Pancreatic Cancer in 2018. The Astros Championship was the last time he was truly happy. We met because of our love of the Astros. The cheating is a betrayal. It hurts. I am ashamed of them. I may never watch them again. For real! When the video was almost done, the thought of YT'ers always asking you to like the video before it even really starts, to subscribe and hit the notification bell, and then it proceeds to be some shit 10 minute video stretched out for ad purposes. But then we get CONSTANT vids like this from UT (and others like JCS, AVGN, and DSP just to name a few. Ok dsp was a joke), and it just made me think "this is what I come to YT for". And go look at the numbers. The cheating made the Astros WORSE. It didn’t help them at all. The part that really pisses me off is how the Astros didn’t need to cheat to win. They were on par or better than the Dodgers (as a Dodgers fan). I started following baseball in ‘04, so I got to see the end of the Killer B’s, with Beltran included. They were the hard luck losers of the ‘05chip. And they built themselves up to greatness after years of suffering in the cellar.
There was so much emotion in that season, with the natural disaster, the players doing so well, and them putting up a great series against the Dodgers.
Then it comes out that they cheated. Every team cheats, I know. But the effort they put into the system was absurd, unnecessary in the eyes of fans. But that’s how they chose to win. Tainted Beltrans return, the greatness of the players they brought up, and the year in retrospect.
No Joe, the scandal isn’t behind them. It will continue to hang. Until they truly repent. Congrats Atlanta! Take your W and continue to meme!
