The Von Braun was clearly built for comfort as a corporate ship, but the Rickenbacker is a military ship and the layout is completely utilitarian and intended for zero-G maneuvering. The worst part of the game in my opinion was finding the screens on Level 5 (if I remember my numbers right) to get the pass code for the quantum whatchadinky. That was very annoying.
it looks nice so far but some suggestions I'd make is upscale the environmental text, the signs on the ground and walls like the tram sign looks distractingly low resolution, also it would be really nice if you could make the animations for the terminals and screens like the spinning tri-optimum logo smoother, maybe add some extra frames for their animations, also please turn down that bloom effect on lights or at least give us an option to turn it off, it looks out of place and gives off the uncanny feeling of those "mario in Unreal engine 5" videos lol

I love SS2. I can't even remember how many didfferent versions I have paid for (several on CD, Steam, GoG, etc) That being said, it looks slightly better than what the community has done so far. Updated textures, touched up character models, less block environments but keeping the great lighting system, ambiance and techno look? Yup sign me up Looking forward to this and Thief
I appreciate ND's work, but really don't see the need for an enhanced edition of this game. The controls and UI are pretty much on par with modern games like Prey and the graphics won't get updated enough to make much of a difference. Why not go all in, and do a proper remake - every fan of the game knows there's plenty of room for improvement in SS2 =)
Nightdive always delivers. Need to buy this. This were never a Indie game. It were a full priced retail game on release. I still own the original first print in big box with manual.
Here's hoping existing owners of the game will get a free upgrade to the enhanced edition, just like what happened with the two Quake games Nightdive worked on.
im glad this is being worked on, but why reuse the weapon models from a mod thats over a decade old? high quality versions of the original models would be a much better fit for an enhanced edition.
And here i am still waiting for the big patch on System Shock 1 that enables cloud saves.... you know a basic feature that steam pretty much gives developers for free.
Playing through the original at this very moment. I'm at the end section and I have to say, this trailer looks damn near identical to what I'm playing. I'm not sure what improvements they made but they need to do more. Ambient occlusion and sharper textures just aren't enough. Also, I hope they do something with the section where you destroy the many boss pillar thing with the stars. The constant respawning of enemies and spawning enemies behind you is ridiculous. It makes the end of the game extremely dull and stupid.
You remember wrong then, lmao. The textures are a lot more sharp compared to the original, and at least some of the weapons have completely new models (like the crystal shard). From the GOG page, it also says FOV slider is in the game now, cutscenes are updated, official support for some fan made content, and a built-in multiplayer co-op feature.
This looks about the same if not a bit worse than a current modded SS2 which still runs fine on modern systems. Not really unexpected, but I hope they do a full remake similar to the first one as the sequel was the much better game IMO.
I was really excited to play SS2 when I first got it, considering all the good stuff I've heard about it. Bloody things are so old it won't work on my computer, though. Look forward to this
After the System Shock remake releases on console, I hope a port of the original System Shock as well as System Shock 2 releases on console. Three versions of System Shock would be great to tide us over until a remake of System Shock 2.
Looking forward to a polished multiplayer Co-Op experience... though I have fond memories of the original patch way back when 😄 Made it to Ops with some interesting bugs along the way only to be thwarted by a bulkhead door that just wouldn't open, so couldn't progress. Happy Days and so grateful to all that worked on this gem, warts and all.
Yes , but still no release date yet sadly....i love the system shock remake they made but still no news about this One ...also One day a ss2 remake would be a dream!!!
I did not expect System Shock 2 to get a remake but I expect a decent uprez of 2 which sadly this isn't. I preordered the remake of ss1 exactly 1 day before release so yes I'll get this for free but I still expect better. At least their Turok 3 remaster looks good. Edit: Also am I the only one who thinks the weapon models in this looks bigger than the original?
If you just want the same experience again with some QoL then just mod the retail version that sells for like $1 these days. It'll even look better than what's being presented here.
They probably won't see my comment, but I hope they consider implementing Jack's left arm mod. It just feels that much more complete seeing an actual arm carying the bigger guns, instead of them seemingly floating.

4) give us an alternative way to beat Shodan. Just hacking or using ICE picks is very limited and can lead to frustration for new players.
There are so many opportunities here to make the game more enjoyable without losing the harcore gameplay fundamentals.
"Just hacking or using ICE picks is very limited " You know you can shoot through the shields, right?
@@ZylonBane I tried it with different guns and psi, didn't work after minutes of firing constantly. I could only attack her once the shields were off. Can you tell me how? I havent seen proof anywhere so I am genuinely interested. I played the GoG Version without any modifications or anything.
@@adrian_0451 Then you were trying it with guns and psi that sucked.
@@ZylonBane very helpful, much appreciated
@@adrian_0451 I guess Googling is hard. Fine: ruclips.net/video/vEikb2-BV7s/видео.html
I have to say I LOVE the updated SHODAN design in the poster. The wide, staring glowing eyes are extremely unnerving.
I don't see any changes in comparing the Steam version with the HD mod. what exactly was changed?
I think this game uses at least some of the mods that have already been made. In their GOG page they also say that there will be official support for other fan made content.
man you can get all this for free with community mods that look even better
For real...
This is a free upgrade for those own the original right?
no...@@morkgin2459
More excellent work from Nightdive. This would be such a great candidate for RTX Remix.
OK I’ve waited through a ton of these comments. Everyone of them seems to have been posted two months ago. I don’t care about VR, I don’t care about console ports, I would just like to see an actual date on any of these comments or anywhere else, as to when the hell This is actually released to purchase and play. Does anyone know this? Thanks!
Give it a good trophy list please, hardest difficulty trophy and all collectables!
Please remake as well!
I love SS2. I can't even remember how many didfferent versions I have paid for (several on CD, Steam, GoG, etc) That being said, it looks slightly better than what the community has done so far. Maybe some of the detail isn't noticable in this video, but it looks like more of a refresh than "enhanced". I can se that some of the sprites are now 3d models, but all of the texture work look like the community work.
Thats enough to bring classics to new platforms
There were no sprites. the only thing that is different are the enemy/npc models. But the game looks exaaactly like the origins.
It says it isn't final footage so don't judge it yet. Just enjoy the hype of the reveal, that's what it's for.
@@Valet2 There were sprites. In the areas where there were moving biomass in the game, those were just animated sprites/textures on the floors and walls. In this, they updated them to 3d models.
@@tommy.angelo2 True, I am not saying I am pissed, just after seeing the recent System Shock remake, and this "enhanced" I was not as impressed as I hoped to be. It does look good, but only marginally better than the community work. Time will tell, and hopefully there will be more too see. But, you are correct, putting SS2 on consoles would be a plus... especially with actually working netcode.
Any news? it's been 5 months. Looking forward to this.
System Shock 2 reeealy need a proper remake like for the first episode !
SS2 is easly on my top 3 favorite games of all times, but i have to admit it's preaty ugly in 2023 :p
PS: Thief 1& 2 need a remake too, go Nightdive, go ! ^^
Wouldnt be hard for them considering SS2 and T and T2 share the same game engine
The first game needed the remake much more than this one. Which speaks to how insanely far ahead of its time SS2 was
@CrizzyEyes which is funny considering the age of the engine it runs on
System shock 2 remake PLEASE the atmosphere of that game is dying for a modern take
Updated textures, touched up character models, less block environments but keeping the great lighting system, ambiance and techno look? Yup sign me up
Looking forward to this and Thief
Please do your work on this game just like was done with Quake 2, we are all know System Shock 2 is exceptional and deserves it
On my WISHLIST!
On gog?
SS2 deserves a full remake.
System Shock 2 Enhanced Edition is like wine, month by month is getting better and better
Can't wait, can't wait, CAN'T WAIT!
I AM curious what's the stage of development now 🤔
I appreciate ND's work, but really don't see the need for an enhanced edition of this game.
SO where the hell is it?
Its coming out on console as well. That's why it isn't out yet.
It is definitely a game that deserves an improvement as a reminder of this absolutely fantastic game that was way ahead of its time.
Where a release date ?
If u plan on doing remasters put this at the top if it sustains you of course
Crossing my fingers for an ENHANCED co-op mode! 👍
That's what I'm in for too lol 😁
I would go nuts for a horror version of fifa 2000
Where is it guys?
If you're wishlisting on GOG, but not Steam, what does this mean for the people who pre-ordered System Shock Remake on Steam?
Wow, bringing this pearl back to life would be amaaaaaaaazing! ❤❤❤
If you havent played this game but love bioshock then PLEASE get it. The atmosphere, ambiance, environmental storytelling, and soundtrack is top notch
OH MY GOD! ABSOLUTE YES!!!! NIGHTDIVEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shot himself right in the nose 👃🏼
*INSTANT FATALITY*
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Lmao
Great to see this running, excited for this one. Has its modding support been retained (and dare I ask, improved) for the PC release? 🙏
Omg y'all, please do a full remake like you did with SS1
Then do Deus Ex
I was finished this game and it's so dark voice but so good for every moment
Wish enhanced edition improved animation
Looks real nice, i wouldnt mind some kind of water shader or at least more frames on the water/liquids.
I hope this is a sign of a System Shock 2 remake. SH remake 1 was a damn masterpiece
Any plans on giving Goggles a second arm for the bigger guns? :p
Can somebody maybe lie down for me how it's enhanced? Widescreen, I suppose, but it looks and sounds the way I remember it. What changed?
The game has gotten some made textures and overhauls that NightdiveStudio will be using for the enhanced edition.
What about Deus Ex 2000 next?
I hope this releases on PS5 the same day as PC I don't want to wait a year
I think that might be why its taking so long to release
@@Papa_Khan that'd be nice
This looks about the same if not a bit worse than a current modded SS2 which still runs fine on modern systems. Not really unexpected, but I hope they do a full remake similar to the first one as the sequel was the much better game IMO.
I was really excited to play SS2 when I first got it, considering all the good stuff I've heard about it. Bloody things are so old it won't work on my computer, though. Look forward to this
Looks great but I would have preferred a complete remake instead. I'll still be picking this up day one!
Wish list on GOG>.. but where is it on Steam?
Btw how about VR version we get update aswell?
Very much ready for being called an insect on late night conversations with Shodan.
All hail Nightdive!
After the System Shock remake releases on console, I hope a port of the original System Shock as well as System Shock 2 releases on console. Three versions of System Shock would be great to tide us over until a remake of System Shock 2.
We are so back.
Please do a remake version too! System Shock Remake was incredible.
they'd probably need to do another kickstarter campaign, remakes cost a lot of money
Does this look like 1999 graphics to everyone else? What is enhanced here?
nothing really
Holding out until SS2:VR
Looking forward to a polished multiplayer Co-Op experience... though I have fond memories of the original patch way back when 😄 Made it to Ops with some interesting bugs along the way only to be thwarted by a bulkhead door that just wouldn't open, so couldn't progress. Happy Days and so grateful to all that worked on this gem, warts and all.
Yes , but still no release date yet sadly....i love the system shock remake they made but still no news about this One ...also One day a ss2 remake would be a dream!!!
IT FIRES WORMS!
I did not expect System Shock 2 to get a remake but I expect a decent uprez of 2 which sadly this isn't. I preordered the remake of ss1 exactly 1 day before release so yes I'll get this for free but I still expect better. At least their Turok 3 remaster looks good.
Edit: Also am I the only one who thinks the weapon models in this looks bigger than the original?
i hope there would be option for original visuals. looking forward mostly for QoL changes
If you just want the same experience again with some QoL then just mod the retail version that sells for like $1 these days. It'll even look better than what's being presented here.
Looks neat, hopefully it will get a remake treatment later.
I am ready for SHODAN to treat me like crap again.
Spoken like a true sadist!
They probably won't see my comment, but I hope they consider implementing Jack's left arm mod. It just feels that much more complete seeing an actual arm carying the bigger guns, instead of them seemingly floating.
