  • He doesn't want yours or my sympathy but he's certainly earned some empathy, none the less.
San Antonio's very own Josh Jung of the Texas Rangers, just two months ago, had a plate and seven screws inserted into his glove hand to fix a bone in his thumb that was essentially cut in half. Jung broke the bone when a ball he tried to catch came at him at 109 miles per hour off the bat of Jorge Soler of the Marlins.
In this MLB post season where the Rangers have won seven in a row, there sure haven't been too many ground balls hit at Josh that seem to be of the "routine" variety either.
Although Josh has padding around the injury as it continues to heal, he still doesn't have full range of motion or complete "feel" back in his hand, which requires treatment before and after each game he plays in.
Josh made two game-saving highlight plays in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series but was also charged with an error in the 5th on a "do or die" ball that chopped in the infield. Pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, however was able to "pick him up" by retiring three straight Astros, two via strikeout.
The Rangers are up 2-0 heading home in this best of seven with the Astros and are a perfect 7-0 in the post-season. 6 of those wins on the road. Josh addressed the state of his hand following Game 2, and looks ahead...and forward to the next three ball games slated for Globe Life Field.
