Help! I've been trying to use orca slicer just for someone else's presets creality preset profiles have been annoying other than pla of course even then it's kinda fast for my filament
removing bowden tube from the drag chain helped me i was getting under extrusion and watched the print to see why and i seen it kept getting pinched on the side of the enclosure when i removed from the drag chain it started printing the same model flawless multiple times not sure if that will help others but it helped me
Another tip that I saw was to use a wire to secure the knob/switch on the extruder into the "Locked" position to help with under extruding. Apparently this knob can come a little bit loose and this weakens the grip on the filament as it is being extruded.
one thing that is extremly good with this printer, is no, not the slicer they give you, but OrcaSlicer. It is insane with the quality and amount of control that they give you, I highly suggest switching to it, as it has support for the K1 unlike cura, but gives you the same if not more control over every little detail.
There was another Firmware update 27 April 2024, for the K1 and K1 Max. It’s best to clean the heat bed after each time you finish a print, the only time I don’t, is when the new print is not going to print across the surface where the print before was. The shop I bought my K1 from, they clean the heat bed after every print. Cheers
Hey thanks for the tips, I just bought one of these as my first 3d printer and having a great time with it. Can't wait to get it dialed in a bit better to produce even better prints!
What's the problem with K1? All youtubers have had their machines delayed for some reason, but creality continues to sell K1 on their site, doesn't feel right!
Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, but I haven't had any problems arise so far (outside of user error). I've had awesome first layer adhesion and there doesnt seem to be any notable under or overextension...yet. I've read that some people were getting better first layer afhesion without glue - though this is 100% material dependent.
@@badarjahangirkayani6196 for now, I'm sticking to the default profiles with Creality's slicer. I haven't had a chance to mess around with any other slicers. I printed a cookie cutter last night using the High Quality profile (adjusting infill to 40%) and it came out beautifully. Quick edit - I do eventually plan on migrating to Cura, as that's what I use for my other machines - but for now, Creality's slicer is working for me with the K1. I have some PETG I want to try on the K1 and that's likely when I'll try using Cura.
This is my first 3D printer and just got it yesterday. I don't understand the need for the glue stick and definitely have not been applying it to any of my PLA prints. What is the glue stick supposed to do?
@@towel42 hey! Congrats on getting your first printer! So basically the glue is used to help the first layer of the print stick to the print bed. I haven't had significant issues without the glue stick, but for smaller stuff I use the glue stick and a brim around the print to help the print stick to the bed and not lift off or get knocked around. If you do use the glue stick, get the Elmer's purple glue stick. Avoid using the glue stick that came with the printer. It suuuuucckkss
You seem to be quite lucky with your printer. I removed drag chain and freed the PTFE tube, as it often crashed on the side and the filament path was way to restricted. If they open up firmware, I will keep it. Apart from drag chain and filament path, I really like the printer.
To change the filament you really don't need to touch the extruder! Just push the filament in all the way and extrude, without opening or closing the extruder thingy. Don't forget to clip the end of at 45 degrees! I literally never have to open the lid for this operation, thank me later! 😅
Great video man. I've had my K1 about a week now. So far, mostly good words. I've been trying to get a PETG setup working, the one built in seems to print too cool? Watching this I did figure out how to create my own filament profile for my PETG, so bonus! The other thing I've seen is that their docs don't match the actual interface in CP. Thanks for the good work!
Cura's Arc Welder plugin never worked for me - it always made my prints worse. There is an Arc Welder plugin for Octoprint that works much better, but only on models with a lot of curved surfaces.
I had issues with my Ender3 V2 machine at first. it did not want to play at all with arc welder. After installing the Jyers firmware however it now works perfext though. The original firmware did not support the commands G2 and G3 it seems wich is what Arc welder makes use of. After the update to Jyers i however run ArcWelder Gcode on it no problem. The only thing is you can not use it with vase mode as the firmware is not supporting something called 3d arcs. (Cura also say that not all firmware supports this particular feature).
REALLY looking for a Cura profile for this printer, I love the Creality Print software, BUT I have an issue with some slices, and I feel Cura will update and perfect their software more than Creality will, any chance you will seek to making a good reliable profile some day? I made mine today, and as my printer is currently printing a blade piece for a sword I am working on, II will test my new profiles tomorrow ;)
what layer height and filament did you use for the single layer dragon wings..as also seen in your initial test video of the K1 ? maybe you could share some settings details ;)
Thanks for these advices ! I do have the Creality K1 as my first 3D printer, and I'm looking for many advices to improve my printer. According to you, what are the best slicer and printer settings for Ender PLA+ printing ? I want the best of this printer.
I have had a terrible experience. None of my prints have turned out good. I even tried to mess with the settings but it made the situation worse. The software is so buggy and the slicer is terrible. It cant even generate supports correctly. I contacted Creality 5 times but they just keep saying they will get back to me. I think they are delaying until I am out of the return window so they can just deny my return. My ender 3 prints way better and way more reliably than the K1.
Yeah, the slicer software is no fun at all. I've noticed that some of the changes that you make to settings won't carry over into the gcode and the slicer will send over it's defaults. I changed filaments to PLA+ and was having a lot of issues. Wasn't until I realized that it was still trying to print at 200° instead of 220°. Nothing I did in the settings would send over the gcode with the correct temperature. I had to edit the gcode manually in order for the printer to print at the temp that I wanted.
Just found out crealitys slicer has tree supports. they are hidden. you have to go into edit ( the floating box above the slice button that says printer and has nozzle and print quality options showing) end enable advanced. then when i restarted the program i had access to way more things.
My only complaint is the Creality Slicer for Windows. It crashes every time I attempt to slice anything larger than a Benchy. I've had to do it all through the mobile app and it's driving me nuts.
My K1 max is jamming constantly but in different ways, all using creality brand pla, it's been 47 attempts since my last successful print on this piece of crap. I've disassembled and reassembled the extruder and runout detector a dozen times each and replaced creased bowden tubes 3 times, and it still can't go more than an hour without jamming so bad it needs a total disassemble to fix.
Is there a way with the K1 using Creality print to do a filament change mid-print? In Cura I can go to post processing and add a filament change at height but can't find the same thing in Creality Print?

1:50 - I print a lot of TPU, and my Sovol SV01 produces great results at 50 mm/sec. I'd get a K1 because I assumed I could at least double the print speed on a printer that's MARKETED as a 600 mm/sec printer.
That's just the limitation of TPU. I've seen some people printing TPU at slightly over 100mm/s but ymmv as it is also heavily dependent on the filament brand.
Out of 4 prints attempted, the bed layer was the only success. The next 3 prints featured piles of noodles, a destroyed 1st layer, and a test cube flying off the heated bed at 89%.
@@JJShankles yes, but I’m backing off on the speed because of the noise. Weird things are happening. I just posted another short that will blow your mind! I did turn off the arc choice. I also added a brim, but it’s 10mm away.
Yup, same experience here. And after some failed prints, it doesnt even calibrate properly anymore. Trying to return it and get a bambu instead but Creality is not responding.
@JJ Shankles. Out of the K1 vs the P1P which is overall the best printer to get? I do see a good bit of problems on the K1 which seems like maybe I should get the P1P. Does the P1P have a lot of issues? Thanks
Would you answer a question regarding mylar on the print bed on the K1? My mylar will create a bubble during printing next to the model, even with a raft applied which makes the model come loose and allows the print nozzle break it off. Would you know of a remedy or just purchase a new print bed? Thanks
When do you need to apply Gluestick? i have mine for 3 Days now and printed 2 things. I used a bit of Glue on the second print but still my first layer seems like it melted or just half finished. How do i change that? Any Advice?
So i just realized there is no way of speeding up or slowing down the print speed once it starts. Why would that not be an option. Even there basic ender 3 does that
I tried to make a Cura profile but the printer would not work right,. It started printing like 1 inch from the bed. Asked creality and they were like they cant help with that.

@@JJShankles I just set the default for Marlin firmware. I didn’t see any info from Creality on how to set it up or if it needed to be any different. It just says on their website that it’s compatible.
Tried ABS, but failed with E004 error. This is related to the fact it cools down to 140 while starting but will not give it time to go from 260 to 140. What is the trick to set a temp and have it remain there during the startup? Is there a shorter startup script? Thank you in advance.
I keeo getting a ton of ghostinf at the default speeds, should i slow it down to normal 60mms speeds? If so doesnt that take away from the whole point of the speed test?
in one of your previous videos you also did a layer height comparison based on some keyboard button prints. given the specs of the K1 the minimum layer height is 0.1mm, any clue if you could go to 0.05mm with a 0.2mm nozzle with this machine?
Thanks for the video. New to printing and I keep getting gaps in my layers. Sometimes the first layer will have gaps as well. What should I do? Havnt changed anything. Using pla+.
just got mine a couple of days ago.. is it normal for 5 to 10 minute start ups.. and it's freezing when loading files to it and the longer prints keep getting interrupted.. or it freezes at the end of the print
I think the loudest part is the fans since they are blowing so much air, so I've found that running them at 50% and slowing the printer down to 150-200mm/s makes it easily half the noise of full power
Yeah the gluestick is, the reason is the same for the bambu x1c. Because it's an enclosed machine the ambient temps have the potential to be too high due to the bed being at your normal pla or petg temps so they use a surface with a lot more adhesion so they can run the bed temp lower, the side effect is you need gluestick for a release film. It's the same bed size as the ender 3 though so any surface for that will work on this if you don't plan on printing a lot of PLA.
I have just received my Creality K1 and found that the print bed was not fixed! There was no screw in the print bed which is why it has very wobbly! The missing screws were also not in the installation space! I bought myself screws and fixed the print bed! With the Self Inspection comes the error message "Error E002 key:2016, Internal Error"! Give the K1 6 months like the x1 carbon has had. Everyone appears to have such short memories over the x1c and p1p teething issues. The k1 at half the price could end up being a better printer when the software is ironed out. There is also more potential of creality opening if the software on the k1.
I cancelled my K1 pre-order and bought the X1C + AMS, and the doubled price is worth every cent. I love my X1C. The K1 is just a fancy-looking copycat. Creality took nearly one year to reverse-engineer the X1 and couldn't even copy it 100%.
There is no "K1" printer model listed in the Cura or Creality slicer. How do you slice a model for this printer when the popular slicers don't have any way to set up a model on the slicer? Creality Cloud is garbage since all you get when you try to log on or signup is "network error". This K1 is Junk. I unboxed it and there were three loose screws laying on the print bed and a fourth halfway unscrewed on the X stepper motor. I already regret buying this printer.

I tried to make a Cura profile but the printer would not work right,. It started printing like 1 inch from the bed. Asked creality and they were like they cant help with that.
@@badarjahangirkayani6196 What did you set for the "Start G-code" and "End G-code" in Cura?
That could effect that.
@@badarjahangirkayani6196 My Start G-code is:
M140 S0
M104 S0
START_PRINT EXTRUDER_TEMP=[material_print_temperature_layer_0] BED_TEMP=[material_bed_temperature_layer_0]
And "End G-code" is:
END_PRINT
@@JJShankles I just set the default for Marlin firmware. I didn’t see any info from Creality on how to set it up or if it needed to be any different. It just says on their website that it’s compatible.
What that Last blue colored squared Vase, Can you share the link for the stl
Using pla+.
Im having a lot of stringing and notice sagging with the filament. Using the filament it came with. So many setting not sure which to change to fix.
this is unrelated to the video but I was wondering if I should get the Longer lk4 x 3d or a different printer?
just got mine a couple of days ago.. is it normal for 5 to 10 minute start ups.. and it's freezing when loading files to it and the longer prints keep getting interrupted.. or it freezes at the end of the print
Whats the noise level on slower speeds? The same all around?
I think the loudest part is the fans since they are blowing so much air, so I've found that running them at 50% and slowing the printer down to 150-200mm/s makes it easily half the noise of full power
What Slicer do you use please
On the Creality printers I use their Creality Slicer
Hey man, I see you dont have a discord server posted. Can you give me the link to your or join mine so I can talk with you about your halot mage pro?
Thanks JJ for the tips, Well done!
iI tried to print TPU but it seem that the result is same. which filament you use it looks great !
This is just Overture TPU
@@JJShankles thanks JJ
what is the app ur using
7 firmware updates just says : we rushed this thing to market
What do you think about the k1 max?
Could tell me what a good slicer program to use with this unit?
Orcaslicer works really well with this printer. The profile they have for it has been outstanding for me so far.
Could I get the ink to the STL for that vase?
Any luck printing with PETG?
I haven't had luck with it.
I tried it and it prints a lot worse than my Ender 3. Lots of stringing and poor surface finish.
What is the Tpu profile that u used ?
What slicer????
what material is the bed made of?
Do NOT upgrade firmware. You will lose the abillity to run Klipper/Moonraker/Fluidd
Is the glue stick really necessary?
I’m only really gonna be printing with some creality pla
Yeah the gluestick is, the reason is the same for the bambu x1c. Because it's an enclosed machine the ambient temps have the potential to be too high due to the bed being at your normal pla or petg temps so they use a surface with a lot more adhesion so they can run the bed temp lower, the side effect is you need gluestick for a release film. It's the same bed size as the ender 3 though so any surface for that will work on this if you don't plan on printing a lot of PLA.
Man I am happy with my BambuLabs
I have just received my Creality K1 and found that the print bed was not fixed!
There was no screw in the print bed which is why it has very wobbly! The missing screws were also not in the installation space!
I bought myself screws and fixed the print bed!
With the Self Inspection comes the error message "Error E002 key:2016, Internal Error"!
Its such a bad joke......has anyone had this error and can help me pls, you can find the Video on my Channel!
Can u use any slicer on this?
Yes, it uses regular gcode. I've done some tests with Cura to make sure it worked.
@@JJShankles u able to make a video and or demo some stuff?? there has been very little on this printer and ppl (like my self) who are waiting are still on the fence...
@@riodave4954 Most of my recent Shorts have been showing off prints that come from this printer, and I'm using the K1 now more than my P1P. So the next long video will surely have a lot of K1 print in it.
I like your idea to show it off more!
@@JJShankles good but my main issues is no good reviews... One guy who did one was so paid it was bad.. I'm looking for a long honest review... All aspects different slicers, sonic pad, different filiment, temps, tests... Sure may be long but it could help ppl understand the printer more and may buy it
@@riodave4954 My review was 20 minutes long, and I'm sure there will be so many new reviews coming out in the next few weeks since other people are receiving new ones now, and anyone should look at the results of multiple reviewers.
best tip for the k1 is to buy a x1 carbon instead. 😀lol
Or two K1 printers for the price of an X1...
Sure. At over double the price?
Give the K1 6 months like the x1 carbon has had.
Everyone appears to have such short memories over the x1c and p1p teething issues. The k1 at half the price could end up being a better printer when the software is ironed out. There is also more potential of creality opening if the software on the k1.
I cancelled my K1 pre-order and bought the X1C + AMS, and the doubled price is worth every cent. I love my X1C. The K1 is just a fancy-looking copycat. Creality took nearly one year to reverse-engineer the X1 and couldn't even copy it 100%.
Yup, that is exactly what I am doing. Better have one working printer than two piles of trash.
Best tip is to just get a p1p
There is no "K1" printer model listed in the Cura or Creality slicer. How do you slice a model for this printer when the popular slicers don't have any way to set up a model on the slicer? Creality Cloud is garbage since all you get when you try to log on or signup is "network error". This K1 is Junk. I unboxed it and there were three loose screws laying on the print bed and a fourth halfway unscrewed on the X stepper motor. I already regret buying this printer.
Creality is a terrible company that makes garbage products they don't stand behind.
Can't stop laughing. A printer in 2023 that needs gluestick..? Hahahaha
its just the type of bed that need gluestick to remove the printed object without damage the bed.. like Bambus beds on the x1
@@frommyy then why supply them with that "type" of bed and not a PEI build sheet?
X1C is also supplied with glue stick. Someone posted a mouldy one the other day 🤣
No, it is not a glue stick. They call it "Support material for build plate"
