  • Purchasing a pressgun may just be the best tool I’ve ever bought I just wish I’d bought one sooner. It has made installing this boiler so much quicker and cleaner.

One thing I normally do with the flue is, once cut to size, take the boiler off the bracket, push flue through the wall then push the boiler into the flue turret then onto the bracket, sometimes makes things easier than pushing from the other side

I’ll keep that in mind that will help loads in some cases

When cutting the flue I remove the inner from the terminal then cut it from the squared end, that way you can use the factory shamfored tapered end.

Not a bad time that at all cheers for that 🙌

The o rings in press fittings are just to identify there use, the actual o rings on the gas are proper o rings that prob seal up to a certain pressure without leaking if you missed pressing one, whereas the water ones have little bumps on them prior to being pressed flat so they would show up as a visual leak

Always wondered why they have little bumps on them

They are amazing. However a few drawbacks. Replacing a fitting is a real pain in the ass. It involves usually cutting out more than you should need to and extra couplings. Old way just unsolder the one fitting and replace. Also when you clamp it always seems to pull the pipe out of plumb and level, so making everything really straight is a pain, you can tweak them a little. However the speed and ease makes it well worth the initial cost

100% agree with you there. Its a shame you can de press a could but suppose there’s no way at all to do it like you said

What worries me is the o ring in pro press fitting. O rings degrade over time as we see all the time, so 10 years plus time there might be issues with these fitting but won't be your problem. Interesting to see if plumbers put propress in their houses . I've seen soldered joints from 1930's still OK doubt you'd get propress lasting the test of time.

@@harrysahota4072 good point to be fair, more than likely aren’t going to last forever. At that point you’ll get everyone online slagging press of like they do pushfit fittings. And everyone will go back to soldering 😂

Be curious to know if you lagged that pipe work after. Looks better with pressfit. We’re no5 allowed to use it on the gas though

I get why they are used in commercial settings but domestic where you can solder not requiring a hot works permit 🤔. That I don't get.
