    Really considering this unit in my new house, a detail I can’t find anywhere is whether or not this model (or the LiftMaster counterpart) support the HomeLink feature found in most cars these days, this negates the need for multiple remotes if so.

      Excellent question.
      I believe there's a number of installers and technicians that are utilizing the same sensors just to save the newer sensors for a rainy day. Yet the manufacturer might encourage to replace the sensors simply for the warranty benefit. That is to ensure that the opener is working to design. Thanks for your question!

    Great video! I install a lot of doors and motors for large local lumber yard. They called me to tell me today that they ordered a skid of these chamberlain side mounts instead of the 98022 side mounts that they usually push. They wanna try them because they are more cost efficient for the customer. I’m looking forward to trying these out since the 98022 has its issues. If anyone has any issues or tips for these things please let me know!

    I've installed 2 of these wall mounted openers. Both work great. I recommend to others... Yes. Configuring its up/down movement and its other features are "a pain". Read the manual really slowly with a large cup of hot coffee and a good set of reading glasses. After the 3rd "read", I got it configured / working properly. As others mentioned, go slow with its wiring connections and its profile / up & down configurations.. It's worth it by going slow....

    Just installed one Saturday on a 10x8 door and regardless of how i adjusted the torsion spring, it refuses to go down during the force learning step. I have 4” cable drums so I used profile 1. After spending hours trying more spring tension and less spring tension and adjusting tracks, I tried profile 3 for 6” drums and it worked perfectly. No clue what it thought the issue was. Hopefully it doesn’t really matter.

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Yes it seems that utilizing a door profile that is higher than the first two will allow the operator to work normally. Nevertheless I am concerned that this method has to be used in order to trick the operator to think that it's working a high lift door.
      More importantly if this opener is set to that profile then how will the detect cable Slack in the event that the cables do loosen? I'm just not sure how that process works when we're technically tricking the system to think that it's operating a high lift door.
      But I do hope that your new investment does not give you any troubles.

      Ok, I feel dumb...kind of. Found that since the door isn't being opened by a traditional GDO (pulling from center of top panel). My door was, on occassion, hitting the door frame causing the excessive force issue. Funny thing is, almost eveytime I manipulated the door by hand after the excessive force, it worked fine. The last time the door would not open, I pulled the release and attempted to open it by hand and it would not open. That is how I found the issue. Everytime before that, it would open fine by hand. It was adjusted just enough to hit that frame every once and a while (once a day sometimes). I made an adjustemtn to the bracket which pulled the top panel inward about a 1/4 and I havent had the problem since. So since this GDO doesn't pull from the top panel to open, thus taking the frame out of play all together, the Jackshaft opener just lifts up.

    One caveat that is not talked about enough for DIY wall-mount installs is getting the door weight and tracks properly set so that the door does not lag (creating cable slack) on the way down.

    • @sosgds
      @sosgds  7 месяцев назад +1

      That is a great point! Thank you for sharing it.

    • @johnnywalker5635
      @johnnywalker5635 6 месяцев назад +1

      Gofast. I'd say that's a point for door install. Not opener motor install.

    • @GoFastGator
      @GoFastGator 6 месяцев назад +4

      @@johnnywalker5635 it’s an issue when converting from a conventional track-style opener that pushes/pulls on the door vs a wall-mount that just operates the torsion bar and relies on gravity to close the door. Most installs call for level tracks and balancing the door against the springs as neutral as possible. That’s not ideal for a wall-mount. If the door doesn’t keep weight on the cables at any point in the travel, there’s a good chance the cables will unwind rapidly from the drums and create a real problem. Plus, an overhead door with no cable tension is a major safety hazard if it’s not connected to an opener.
