Freightliners are the best example of "they don't build em like they used to". They're just good enough to roll themselves off the lot and just bad enough to keep Freightliner mechanics and parts sellers in business.

Great video! I drive a '25 Freightliner day cab. Other than the ride (which is notoriously bad in Frieghtliners) it is a great truck! I appreciate all the safety features that are in this truck that make me a safer driver. I like the lane departure warning, the lane keeping assist and, the anti collision technology, These help me as I drive to stay out of trouble before it starts and I appreciate that! I haven't had any electrical problems. It's a solid, dependable truck!
Just out of curiosity, I added the numbers from your screen and calculated an average fuel efficiency (summing up 'fuel used' and 'distance' for each truck and dividing by the number of trucks) for 2024-s and 2025-s. For 2024-s it was 8.099 mpg and for 2025-s - 8.223 respectively. So, as for now, 2025-s turn out to be just 1.54% more fuel efficient. Unfortunately, I don't know how to include idle time in my calculations, as some trucks had pretty atrocious numbers, like 30-31%, which definitely decreases the actual on-the-road fuel consumption numbers.
Amen brother. His analytics did not include the idle hours for sleep due to the FMCS rules or the stops at the Florida strip clubs where the drivers keep the semi running & the air conditioner frosty in 90F heat for a 2 hour lunch break.
I just finished. My first week in my new 2025 Cascadia. First week averaged 8.1 MPG doing regional in New England. Not awful. Some other drivers who have been in theirs for just over a month are in the 8.6 range. So far I like the truck fine except for the “automatic” windshield wipers. It reminds me a lot of the plastic click together models i used to build as a kid,,, But the best part is I’m not the one making the payments!😊

$200 per hour shop labor rate, then folks don't want too pay but $100 per hour to operate the truck. The cost to operate is bad out of wack compared to the money made operating a truck at this time
I will keep my Kenworth T680 13 speed manual. Other than the injectors being replaced 4x (yes thats not good)and fuel line on top of the engine behind replaced twice in 170,000 miles i have no complaints.
Am impressed that nobody talks about the problem wt the rain.. when it rains out side..it poor inside the cabin. Cascadia . It away a problem on every freightliner... no matter what year...😅

Tech here in CO is only getting 55 ish and hour for an A level tech. 200 an hour is more than fare today. That 200 has to cover a lot more then just a tech spinning wrenches.
I recently bought (5) 2025 cascadias and they all idle at 1.2 gph with normal rpm like 650 - 700 for comparison I have 2023 volvos that only idle at 0.5gph do you also see such a big increase in your cascadias? it must have to do something with new emission and engine maps. even tho they have apu you cannot completely cut out idle especially when batteries degrade over time. Keep trucking eld shows the fuel used during idle.
You are using your discounted rate for your freightliner parts and are not getting discounted rate on kenworth or at least your local kenworth is screwing you lol just checked on bumper and starter your numbers are not jiving with my local kenworth dealer great videos keep putting them out
I have had my 2021 Cascadia for about 1.5 years,& thats about how long I have been driving,I do not see any mention of load weights? rear end ratios? average speeds,I can easily get 8.5 @ 70m mph with light loads etc,it would be nice to get more details on the trucks ,weight of loads hauled & average speeds,maybe even flat roads etc,otherwise to me this video is not very informative,but none the less I do enjoy these videos,thanks.
The depreciation is taken 2-3 years before its time to dump them on the used market. Detroit sells the best warranty in the game after warranty is out the company doesn't really care what its going to get out of the truck. Pick up new warranty units and just keep the machine moving.

Freightliner has made an affordable truck with best in class MPG good service turn around time and warranty. Can you get more comfortable and nicer? Yea but these big guys are here to make money and Freightliner hits that market better than anybody. In my experience Freightliner will buy the business more than anybody else. Meaning Daimler reps to large fleets will policy non warranty repairs more often than PACCAR will for sure. The CRETE rep will basically policy any repair not under warranty on a truck under 500k with almost no questions asked. You will not get that from PACCAR.
I don’t have a ton of experience in the Cascadia but from the experience I have I don’t really care about the labor rate. If they can’t be repaired there’s really no point in taking them to the shop so the labor rate is just not important. When I get back to work I’m afraid the company is going to sell my truck and put me in a new one again so I’m going to have to move all my stuff again. It’s a big pain in the a$$. The Cascadia is great on fuel and they are cheaper but I’m not sure that the disposable truck model is the best way. I’ve heard rumors we may be getting Volvos in my division. I’m to the point that I wouldn’t mind a change

Set on the side of the road ever and what you need to figure in with all this is. How much money do you lose in downtime? Broker deductions from being laid. I'm not ready to give up reliability. Had several Freightliners and all I had was problems. The only reason companies buy them is to save money. Drove a Peterbilt for years without any problems.
To actually compare the fuel efficiency I think it is extremely important to have the same driver in each variant of the truck. The driver is the biggest variable in fuel efficiency.
I bet you can get the starter, bearing, air filter for the KW and the Freightliner dealer for close to the Freightliner cost. PACCAR is not friendly to the dealers when it comes to pricing. I'm a parts manager at a Freightliner dealer and I quote the same parts to people and some times I feel like I'm cheating when it comes to beating prices from PACCAR dealers.

ALL Trucking manufacturers should cut production to stabilize the market, There are so many used truck sakes dealership in every street, The market is in chaos , The only way to stabilize the market the production must be cut or the trucking industry is jeopardize, This all because a used trucks dealership was open in 2017 and grow to 45 locations across north America and people can start a company just like that and start owing a fleet 50 to 100 tricks in a matter of 6 month , ridiculous this why we are in shit today
At 20,000 miles the one i drove wouldnt hold air, interior started rattling and screeching. And the transmission was acting up. Its a piece of junk like all the others.

They’re good for 750k-900k miles. Freightliners definitely make it over 1 million miles but in the process keep you more broken down in my opinion. APUs are a must have in freights to prevent some down time in kenworth and peterbuilts that hasn’t been the major issue. Cummins motors are the ones I liked
Too bad all the OEMs operate based on planned obsolescence. They're designed to be unreliable and as cheap to make as possible. I'm sure that if even one of them decided to build a halfway decent truck, they would dominate the class 8 market in no time.
Most of the companies care all about fuel when buying trucks and the drivers are always out of equation,the same thing is Daimler doing by making junk trucks only to make companies happy and doesn't care about drivers at all. These trucks are a real bad trucks for the drivers. I bought one and I am terrified how bad and primitive this truck runs. These trucks shake very hard when driving and you will notice a permanent headache when driving these trucks because of shaking. Also,you will notice permanent backache. Someone must sue the Daimler for killing drivers for so many years. I will sell my truck,this shit very soon and never buy Freightliner again. It's the worst vehicle I have ever driven in my life. If you're an owner operator and planning to buy one, don't buy a Freightliner,it will cause you health problems. Only a bastard can drive these junk vehicles made by Daimler.

As far as value goes, residual is going to be crap, these trucks are barely worth 20k once they fall off warranty.

As a company, I would think that you spec these trucks the same. DD15 ??? horsepower?? rear end gear??? transmission?? Please fill the blanks.
