I didn't realize. Chris was only 33 when he passed. Love Phil Hartman. And of course, Chris Farley. Both were amazing.
Phil’s gift was his calm, confident delivery that would belie the chaos of his character’s thoughts or surroundings. From Bill McNeal to Troy McClure, Phil’s character was always perfect for the scene.

Not many actors could entertain a studio audience like this without breaking character. This was great 😂
We'll get to how funny this is later. Let's start with how brilliant it is. Genius. Most comedians never get anywhere near this level of observation of people, let alone be able to act it all out, let alone make us laugh at our sad weaknesses.
Hartman delivers an absurd, screwball send-up of "authority figures" we're apparently supposed to place our trust in (but who don't really know any better than the rest of us) and Farley (again) brings real life, sweetness and raw honesty to a human being who's a little lost. He wants us to laugh but he also wants us to feel something for this guy.
And both of these performers could pull that kind of thing off...Incredible. Rare and precious. God I miss them.

Man... Chris totally put in very good performances in Tommy Boy and Black Sheep with those heartfelt moments, I always tear up when those scenes come up.

So true. Both of these guys were so incredibly brilliant comics and unbelievably funny. And it was true comedy, without relying on a bunch of nasty words to fill a lack of talent.

4:47 is the funniest part of the video. This is truly hilarious. I thought for sure Officer Miller was going to say he was looking for a woman to love him and keep him company, but that was the exact opposite of what Officer Miller said. lol :-)

Yeah, always loved them. The world would be a much better place if they were still here. They were a good team, good friends, left a notable void that leaves this world badly lacking. I try to do what I can to help bridge the gap with my work and I hope to leave behind a legacy of hope for others while learning from their mistakes.

This was about the funniest skit ever, R.I.P. Phil, and Chris. I adored Phil, he was a rare master of all trades comic and was taken from us tragically and way too soon 4:48 was absolutely f**king hilarious, IMO

Better than the Chipendale sketch with Swayze and the Herlihy Boy with Sandler? Those are mine next to Matt Foley. It's a real shame he didn't live long enough for us to get a Matt Foley movie.

The brilliance of that part was the way Phil delivered it, in such a matter of fact way, and using a speech style from 1930's movies.. Brilliant skit!

I just checked- my friend, who retired in May (2022) started his 31 years at the county on 1/1/91, a month or so after this aired. Holy cow I’m old af. And still working.

I suppose it's true of anyone who makes you laugh, really laugh, but there's never been anyone since Chris Farley that physically and mentally pushes me toward hilarious joy.
I honestly believe had he not OD'd, he would have transitioned from "just" a funny guy into more serious dramatic roles and I believe that right now at age 58=59, he'd have at least one Academy Award already.
