  • @marklipson
    @marklipson 3 года назад +112

    We'll get to how funny this is later. Let's start with how brilliant it is. Genius. Most comedians never get anywhere near this level of observation of people, let alone be able to act it all out, let alone make us laugh at our sad weaknesses.
    Hartman delivers an absurd, screwball send-up of "authority figures" we're apparently supposed to place our trust in (but who don't really know any better than the rest of us) and Farley (again) brings real life, sweetness and raw honesty to a human being who's a little lost. He wants us to laugh but he also wants us to feel something for this guy.
    And both of these performers could pull that kind of thing off...Incredible. Rare and precious. God I miss them.

    Wonder if Phil ever did infomercials on snl. He has the perfect delivery for them. Chris Farley could be the uninformed side kick. Perhaps for some kind of carpentry or hardware miracle product. But the product is dangerous and everyone gets injured using it.

    Hartman was one of the absolute best. Farley was very good and only 32. He would have been one of the greats too. I still watch old Simpsons episodes where Phil did so many voices.
