I have one of these MD's....so freakin' impressed with it. There is a "can't put it down/always wanna pick it up factor" that all guitars have/don't have. My OM-28 MD is an 11 on a 1-10 scale! Awesome video guys. Thanks for posting these
one of my own Martins
Loved the Davey Graham-esque playing at the end, Quinton.
Damn! What a beauty!! 😍😍😍 Im talking about the guitar, not you guys.. Wonderful sound as well 😊👍
Sheesh - sincere apologies to all who listened to this - I remember thinking that the tuning wasn't quite right, but didn't realize how bad it really was until listening here just now . . . ugh
I believe both E's as well as the A are all flat. Bad tuning will make the best guitar sound like depression.
All good, Quinton. Despite the tuning, the tone of the guitar really shines through. And we're all entitled to an off day ;)
I think you played instinctively and minimised any dissonance, quickly moving off the culprits. It still sounded good, but I did notice. I thought it must have been a “the show must go on” moment.
No sweat. Thanks for your honesty. Maybe redo the review?
Quinton, Julian Lage plays an old vintage 000-18 and also has a signature collings OM guitar
This guitar is on display in the Martin lobby until Friday. If you have a chance to try it - you should!! 😎
Make it long scale and I'm sold!
That’s an Om I believe right?
OM is the one.
How would you comapre this body with the D42 or D45? Are there much different and what are the differences, I am trying to decide the 000-42 MD or D42/45 MD. Thank you. Will the D model be much bass heavy, and which one will have more projections in a mix. Thank you
O.k.,my final offer,my 1995 000-28 and $100 bucks....magnificent instrument,equally magnificent playing by The Q man!
Wait, I'll raise the stakes!
I offer Mike's 1995 000-28 and I add another $125 bucks!!!
😁
It's going to happen, I can feel it.....
@@mikeopdenaker5573 : Aaaaw, you’re too kind. Thanks!!! 🥴
000-42 MD vs. 000-28 MD: More "bling bling" and a fabulous headstock but is there a difference in sound ?
Damn that guitar sounds so nice. Gives me Western movies vibes.
could you test the new martin 000 16 streetmaster ? That would be very interesting ;)
We will, as son as we get one in stock!
I've heard and played much more out of tune than this (despite being rather exacting about tuning. Sometimes, it's a crap guitar [I have one], other times, just being off in my tuning). I can still hear the striking tone of the instrument and it sounds wonderful. Quinton's playing does the instrument justice and highlights the resonant, strong tone and response.
What does Martin use on the "E" VERSION?
I think Martin gives you 5 different options for that. It's on their website.
George Jones had some great Martin's he played in the 80's and throughout his career
Julian Lage plays his signature OM, so a long scale instrument guys. 😊
He plays his sig OM, but his real love is his ‘38 OOO-18. The neck on his Collings was copied from that Martin.
@@championhairpuller yeah, true! The same neck shape but in a long scale package.
What gauge strings work best for a full sound on the 000-42?
Why not tune it
Its easier not to.
I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't want to own and play this guitar.
Best 7K sounding guitar?
I live in New Zealand... I'm guessing this would be 10k or over here... I have a beautiful martin 000 15sm I think it is was $1700 second hand that's about half the new price... Enjoy your American pricing guys
Same…. From Auckland, Makes these higher end guitars even more unattainable
@@AnimeFanBeats yep....
@@AnimeFanBeats go to lewis eady guitar store and dream of owning a signiture Eric clapton or whatever in stock ha that's what I do...
At least you have a fantastic guitar. This is a bit more than a new 000 15sm is here in the US (about $1650) but they are nearly impossible to find from a company that you trust and mail order only for the most part.
@@johnwashburn3793 so cheap ha... Yes I'm lucky for sure... I just bought a $300 cort for busking... Looks much like my Martin 000... That's only about $150 US and I love it! (wouldn't be much good for recording) etc but beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I'd imagine getting my cort for my first guitar I'd be blown away! My first guitar was so bad ha ha hhha humble beginnings yes I'm super lucky now :)
If you're a stickler for tuning then right now you're thinking... Edvard Munch "The Scream". Come on Q, wassup?
Titanium truss rods got to be a supply train issue during shutdown, back didn't come back. I
I was reading its because they were having warranty repairs on them. I guess they were getting lose and starting to rattle. Its a bummer because they really did make the guitar really light.
@@HamHavoc I have a D-28 MD with a titanium truss rod, no problems yet.
@@texhaines9957 I wish they still put them in. I have only ready about warranty stuff that was happening int. It could be a supply issue tho.
You guys need to film this one over, guitar was out of tune...
You should have tuned it before starting the review. It sounds like crap it’s so out of tune.
Crap no, but it sounds kind of messy at times, and surely doesn't help...I'm okay for a new review any time (let's hope it doesn't sell quick so you'll have to do it - I've been wondering if there was something wrong with this particular guitar -)...
If you spend all your money on all that abalone you may not even have enough left to buy a-bologna sandwich...!
It doesn't sound as "alive" as a D-18. It has a somewhat muted tone ("damp cloth syndrome").... Sound-wise not worth the price (IMO)....
