Quinton looks like he really enjoys this guitar the way he plays more freely , great demo!
Most comfortable neck on any acoustic I’ve ever played, by far.
I always enjoy the guitar overviews from you guys, but I also really like hearing Quinton play guitar. There is a lot of love that goes into your videos.
I loved how you sniffed the sound hole!!! Sweet mahogany smell! I think I love the 18s more than 28s. Nice sounding guitar!
Sounds like great Martin. Kinda 3D, what a guitar player is looking for among so many.
For some reason I've never liked gold hardware, especially on such an iconic guitar as the 000-18. Sounds good, as always.
I'm not a fan of gold hardware either, but it also wouldn't keep me from buying a guitar that was calling to me and had "the sound."
I agree, the sound is great. A set of nickel Waverly butterbeans is not too expensive to make it just right.
nicely done. I am considering a D28MD. This was a helpful video thx
Excellent demo. The 000-18 Modern Deluxe is as good as you think & more.
Incredible.
Sounds great!
First 000-28s Modern Deluxe had titanium truss rod, and supply issues caused the swap. THIS IS A VERY GOOD feeling neck. The "e" version is very nice, voice partly from an old 000-28. Thanks Quinton and Paul
I contacted Martin, and they told me the 2022 models have a hybrid titanium-steel truss rod. They claim that it is stronger than the original pure titanium rods.
The is my dream guitar
always good stuff!
Looks nice! Nice big sound from all the strings which I love.
Wow, that sounds right.
Quinton how do you get that thumb pick to sound like a flat pick? Love you videos!
titanium truss rod also it had abalone inlay on the headstock name
titanium truss rod is no longer featured in the Modern Deluxe line. Martin no longer uses them here
@@albertlee4036 thanks for the info

I'd like to see a Martin OM and Larrivee OM comparison. Could you do one?
If you look on their site, they don't even carry Larivee.
@@daddio307 It would be good if they did. I think Larrivee OM guitars are excellent and cost a lot less than Martin OM-28 and 000-18 guitars.
@@gregorycarpenter I used to love Larrivee and I owned a P-09 that I think is their best instrument, and I had an L-03 too. Now I have Martin custom shop very much like the one in this video, it’s got a torrefied addy top and mahogany back and it’s incredible and light. In my opinion Larrivee(aside from the Parlors) are great but they just aren’t as light and airy as a Martin. If you have less money by all means get a Larrivee they are great as all solid wood American guitars.
@@angelg8445 Thanks, a lot....I appreciate the input from your experience...!
Compare a larrigay.....no way
How does it compare to the OM Cherry?
Would like to hear this and a OOO-15M A/B just to hear/compare the sounds.
Ooh... me likey!...
Great reviews! Could you PLEASE compare the 000-18 modern deluxe to the 000-15Sm? I would really like to see and hear these two in a side by side.
They “Ping”🤣
Is a 1 13/16 neck better than a 1 3/4 neck for fingerstyle?
the 13/16 would give you more space between the strings between the plucks although plenty of people like the 3/4 for fingerstyle. Its just your preference.
I bought my third Martin but had to return it because of the pain caused by a Martin asymmetrical neck. Please ask Martin to make alternatives to this type of neck without adding $1000 to order a Custom Shop low oval neck. Otherwise I’ll be forced to buy my guitars elsewhere? Lovely looking 000-18 btw.
What was the problem with how the md neck was?
Yeah what are you talking about i have this guitar and love the neck feels really comfortable
I thought it might be an issue but like it more then the neck on the 000-18 standard. I think it's actually easier to play then the "high performance low oval" thing. To me the best Martin necks come before 1969 anyway, aside from going broke in their custom shop.
Most comfortable neck on any acoustic I’ve ever played, by far.
this is a ridiculous comment, just absurd
No pickup on this model ?
Not from the factory but one can always be added later.
Titanium trustrod
titanium truss rod is no longer featured in the MD line
I contacted Martin, and they told me the 2022 models have a hybrid titanium-steel truss rod. They claim that it is stronger than the original pure titanium rods.
This MD sounds like its played very close to the bridge wherever you play it - don‘t like it
hate these...yet to try the new line but as a Martin owner the necks of the MD is so thin it makes it unplayable
I own one of these. Good and bad, and not too much good. Yes the new features give it volume but very little depth. It is very bright sounding, but after decades of playing Martins the old dreads sound way better. This is a highly demanding thing with very limited uses. It's good for certain studio recordings because the sound is so flat it mixes well. The frequency overlap you get in the dreads can make it too 'boomy' for recording purposes but properly mic'ed up it works great for everything and the 000's, 0M's and 00's are only good for unusual circumstances. They make more sense if you get them with the built in pickup. Then you can somewhat compensate everything they lack. The point is, it is what they LACK that makes them useful. Do they sound good? No, they don't. I have owned or tried all the 000's. I owned the 000-28 standard, the 000-28MD which I traded for the 000-18MD, as discussed above, the 000-28EC, which has a neck like a baseball bat, just awful for me. My final conclusion is that you can't make chicken salad out of chicken s**t. The best 000 is the one above, the others sound dead by comparison, but compared to the dreads, and just on it's own, it's a cheap, loud, no depth, lousy sounding guitar. Big waste of money. The D-18 MD on the other hand, is a good sounding thing. Oh yeah, the infamous asymmetrical neck. It has a modified V shape that is fatter on the thumb side if you are right handed. Why oh why Martin added this truly idiotic touch defies rational thought. This "modern" guitar screams for the standard "low oval taper" and a 1 and 5/8th or at widest a 1 11/16 neck. As is, it is clunky and if you like to use your thumb for bass notes forget it. It forces you to relearn the way you play guitar. If you have a fortune you can throw away head down to one of the famous Nashville stores and get a 000 from the 1930's, otherwise get a dread, Bear in mind Martin stopped making good guitars in 1969. Thank you and good night.
Paul, you seem very nice, but you don’t project any confidence in product knowledge. Information and knowledge is what we need. Not trying to hurt your feelings at all but comparing you to Chris or cooper at Alamo music, you can’t, they give better reviews and therefore probably sell more guitars. Nothing personal, just constructive criticism. You and Quintin are both great guys, but if you want a thorough review watch Alamo.
