    Scrimped and saved for years for my 41 purchased in 2022. It's mesmerising to play. I absolutely love that guitar and have to force myself to practice on my old plywood DCX so it's still worth something when my girls get it in 40 years or so.

    This one definitely has the classic Martin spruce/rosewood dread sound. If that's your scene and you like the looks, this is it.
    Or the J200 equivalent of saying, "every guitar player's got to own one", you'll never be quite satisfied if you don't!
    I always believed it was Neil Young above all others who really showcased the D 40's series to the world's discerning ears, and this 42 comes near that sound.

    • @CenterThePendulum
      @CenterThePendulum 5 месяцев назад +1

      Hit the nail on the head here. I just bought one because I’ve been chasing Neil’s tone. Put 80/20 bronze mediums on and it’s 100% his sound. He has a D-45 but his luthier scalloped the braces, brining it closer to a post-2018 D-42 or D-45. The D-41s I’ve tried weren’t quite there.

    Before they were reimagined. The 42 was Braced differently then the 41 and 45, also had aged toner. I think that made the 42 the best if the 3. Now they're Braced the same and gave aged toner, so it's just about how much Bling you want. My 2005 D42 is an amazing instrument

    I sold a 2011 d28 a few days ago I've had it for about 10 of those years... Used to write and record... As I wrote most of my released songs on it I will miss it and might regret it but its always been too big for me I prefer 000s now just me... I do think there the best sounding guitar shape in the world though the dreadnought... I sold because I'm poor... My best guitar now is a 000rsgt but one day I might get a 00018... Think of it as a father giving his daughter away in marriage. She has a whole new life. We don't really own a guitar. We take custody and enjoy for a while and hopefully the guitar lives well longer than we do and others get the opportunity to take custody and enjoy
