Hey folks! What did you think of this episode? Would you like to see us cover more elements of Stellaris Invicta in the manner of our regular episodes? Let us know! And don't forget, our next live stream starts in an hour! www.twitch.tv/templininstitute
This is truly a greatly built universe, heck, we could even get video-games happening within such universe... Or RPGs. And movies. With Hans Zimmer's music.
You have created a new great fictional universe with your followers, while streaming a game and writing an awesome story. Dam it, you deserve more subs
Russian named star system, with New Moscow as its capital and heavy industry as a key part of its economy. With Polish named neighbour (Vistula System), which has a Fleet Station named after Tadeusz Kościuszko, Polish national hero and leader of an anti-Russian uprising. Sweet xD
Aw man. I made up a faction of late-WWII USSR based imperial militia for my warhammer army and their home planet is named Rodina (meaning motherland in Russian). Now I feel like I plagiarized.
The GTU is the master of terraforming planets to suit their needs, there isn't a single planet with atmosphere that hasn't been colonized across the entire Union. Even as we speak, human and Wessari citizens are colonising the Tropical worlds taken from the Vol Hive in the previous war. With so many planets and systems. With so much history in Stellaris Invicta, I would love to see you cover more about it. Though, with so much of it, I don't know if you'll be able to keep up. But hey, I've been wrong before ;)
we are all here talking like this is some very distant future, while we don't realize our grandchildren (my generation's grandchildren, at least, I'm 28) might very well experience the first extrasolar colony, same as the ww1 veterans' grandchildren went to the moon. If you think about it it is not a stretch by any means. I surely hope to be still alive to see the beginnings of space exploration.
Sorry but this is unrealistic. Interstellar travel requires a large space infrastructure and large quantities of energy. It also needs a large ship with thousands of people and robots. Any attempt at extrasolar colonization is a strain of ressources and technology. The space infrastructure required certainly won't exist until the beginning of the 22th century, and even then it would take decades for the ship to travel to the nearest stars and decades to build the colony. So at best the first extrasolar colony will exist in the 23th century.
Whilst I can understand your general optimism, I doubt extra solar colonisation will occur within the next few centuries at least (assuming FTL isn't found to be possible). I say this, because our solar system is already a massive resource rich place, with vast amounts of energy (I remember seeing a rough estimate, that with the energy output of the sun, we could sustain 10^20 people in a Dyson swarm). Even whilst we may get the technology for viable interstellar travel in the next century (hell, if we're willing to use nukes, we can achieve a few % light speed with modern tech), other star systems are VERY far away, and due to sub light speed limitations, extrasolar colonies will be practically impossible to administer, or extract economic value from beyond scientific data, making extrasolar colonisation a low profitability high risk (extremely long term) endeavour. Thus, I can only see us beginning interstellar colonisation once we start approaching the carrying capacity of the solar system (taking current 1.05% world population growth, we'll get there in 1500 years assuming exponential growth). Before we reach the carrying capacity of the solar system, the only things that we'd send out might be scientific probes, or the odd filthy rich cult or religious group deciding they want to try their luck in interstellar space.
well, lets start. Rodina. Emphasis on 1st vowel, means Home World aka Motherland Volga. River, used by vikings and slavs in trade with Byzantium. Volgagrad=Stalingrad Novaya Moskva (Novaya, emphasis on O; Moskva, emphasis on A)=New Moscow (maybe reference to Moscow City) Prokophyev. See 1st, 5th and 7th symphonies, if you want to be more educated in classic music of 20th century (very powerful, easy to understand, a bit repetitive).
"Novia moskva" I can only wonder which one of out favorite Templin-Institute operative named that... I wonder if we have any such operatives with a notorious fascination for the soviet union...
Well at first Moskva/Moscow is of course not just the capital of the USSR as you surely know - it was russian capital, too before Peter the Great build St. Petersburg, and remained important even after that. There is a reason why the capital stayed there also after the fall of the USSR. And I think a futuristic human society would be not wrong to pay as done in this case respect to many different cultures/nations - among them of course on a prominent place the nation who at first put an unmanned and later a manned artifical object into Earth Orbit etc.
Your Stellaris Invicta series is just pure awesomeness, thank you. Great example of how you can build a great story based on gameplay, it really inspires me to write down some stories based on my plays, or start a new one and notice all the small details and build upon them. Althought, you could work on pronounciation of Russian-based names. It's generally OK, but you tend to put stress on the wrong syllables. For example, in word Rodina there should be stress on the first syllable - ROdina (Homeland). Same for NOvaya MoskVA (New Moscow). It's a minor thing, really, yet I do believe that you strife for perfection.
Ironically, in IRL Moscow the Novaya Moskva (“New Moscow”) autonomous okrug (which is like a borough in New York) is a newly added barely populated area of nothingness, construction sites and formerly rural small towns and villages
I wonder how great must be the skill od all artist who have made these images in the video. They are so amazing i can't even tell... And BTW, is Templin aware that Rodina is a name of a planet from David Weber's "Uprising" book?
I love the concept of mixing your own lore with that of the usual content that you cover! Please keep it up, your content is amazing. Glory to the GTU!
Your content is just exquisite. Keep it ip. I've always wanted to see paperback, tv, and movie media from your channel. You are the masters in this age ofsci-fi setting building.
You guys are amazing. Awesome narration, great story structure and engaging ideas. I'm a new VO person, and you guys give me hope I can do this someday. Thank You!
I'm really hoping the Ancient Races segments will be happening soon, I really want to see vids on the Forerunner, Protoss, and Alterans. It sucks that I can't vote because I'm poor and literally can't afford to donate.
Fleshing out the lore of Stellaris Invicta is super cool, and I am very curious to see what you will cover next. The Algan Republic and their allies in the Compact, The Florian Matriarchy and their subsequent Invasion, or honestly literally anything from the campaign would be interesting to find out. Whatever it is, I cant wait to see how everything will go, and what the coming crisis's will bring, but in the end Humanity will make it through. Terra Invicta, Glory to Mankind!!!
My current play through had a similar system like this, the Sirius system ended up being such an industrial powerhouse my empire become the Galaxy's china lol
could there be a compilation of all the stellaris invicta art? Love that you guys put up the artists who designed it but I always struggle to find the ones you use for invicta. Also yes please more of these!
It's the common root, "rod" (roughly "bloodline") what makes it happen, because slavic people were basically one people - "narod" - a thousand year ago or so. In Russian "rodnya" means "relatives", "rodstvennyiy" - "related", and so on.
I hope the future projects be good as the GTU series, really great storytelling. Maybe thought of doing transplanted humans in stellar is? Oh, what about the endless legends/space?
Oh, the documentary forgot to mention... The Rodina Planetary System... the Fleet build and trained here are famous for their devastating Rush Battle-cruiser attack.
Why are there so many anti Russian comments? The Greater Terran Union is obviously vast enough to permit there being many highly socio economically and technologically developed sub-national entities within it that that are predominantly based on just about any presently existing country or ethnicity on Earth today. I love the fact that Stellaris Invicta is not American or European centric, but allows for much featuring of all regions of Earth. The GTU while retaining unity, still has its citizens retain conciousness and pride of Earth borne historic origins and positive aspects of such cultures.
Who ever dislikes this video is unpatriotic scum. Glory to the GTU! On a more serious note, this is an amazing video and really hope there’s more to come. Maybe some on the other big players in the Stellaris Invicta universe?
This should definitely become a scifi IP existing beyond the boundaries of Stellaris in and of itself. Also, would be great if this had its website and merch, lol

This was great and very interesting! Hope you do more of these for the systems that stand out... maybe the genetically modified penal colony with Kaiju or an annexed alien world that weren’t a threat the the GTU?
Been asking for that the last few episodes, as do others. Either they're avoiding it for its enormity and complexity, or its taking them a long ass time to do it because of its enormity and complexity. I'm hoping for the latter.
Eurasian Commissariat Episode on Russia. Fact: Every major power that has attacked Russia ended up with the Russian forces taking that respective nations capital (France and Germany) or effectively contained as a vassal (Mongolia).
4:25 I approve of naming the station in the Vistula systesm after Tadeusz Kościuszko, but, that was an unusual pronounciation. These words are long, don't rush them
Wonder what kind of story telling there should be for the end game crisis? Which foe should be worthy to threaten the GTU!?! The swarm, the contingency, the unbidden??? Or the end of the cycle? Lol
I'd go with the Unbidden. They're the most powerful of the End Game Crisis and can seriously threaten everything the GTU has worked hard for. It could also challenge the GTU's pride by forcing it to work with the rest of the galaxy, and that means cooperating with former and current enemies.
Is Invicta 2.1 or 2.2? I’m confused because it started long before LG came out but they keep talking about crime and military industry. Haven’t watched the stream obviously.
