One hour after this video goes live (at 2pm MST) we're playing the second part of our great Community Stellaris Game! Catch the action on Twitch! www.twitch.tv/templininstitute
What about some help from other channels for world building and making short stories about live, crime etc that expand on the lore. I say it because the best thing about the series was the world building even politics of the Greater Terran Union or military campaigns the possibilities are endless and believe me I would watch every single one of them. From personal stories to epic scale their is room for it on this universe.
Someone already said it but the more people say it the more likely you will notice it. Next season show us a map when expansions or new contects happen. It was hella confusing to figure out what and how changed after a conflict.
My only concern is that the endgame was a bit rushed. I would have made it a two part episode, because events were happening so quickly from the AI revolt onwards.
I kind of liked the double length finale. Things in stream really did happen almost back to back like that. At the same time, the gtu's involvement in the war kn heaven was pretty minimal until the end, mainly holding styx, losing gibraltar, and pissing away the federation fleet. He mainly just built up the economy.
agreed. first there was this existential crisis-invoking war between aliens, then there was this AI revolt, *then* some existing older races attacked, THEN some interdimensional aliens joined in the fun. At best it got mildly confusing, but at worst it could've been interpreted as events lacking consequence since "there's always a bigger universe-ending threat out there to one-up the current one".
My only problems was, as you said, the lack of maps shown, to show where event took place. Aside from that I think it was an excellent series and hope that you will do the same with other Paradox games
I Personally want them to play stellaris season 2 with gigastructures mod on and another one that gives 3 more ship types, just to see how epic they can make their nation
Regarding the map thing, I believe that there are some mods that make the map "cooler" (adding outer rim/inner rim/core worlds borders, nicer background etc.). I don´t know the name of the mods, but if you look at some videos of Aspec, You´ll see what i mean.
I believe those would be Softer Hyperlanes, Light Borders, Pinwheel Galaxy, Quadrant Fixed, and maybe Whiter stars. They are all in the Elegant Galaxy collection by Agamidae.
So basically a focus on a set of characters set in the GTU within a certain period of GTU history? And perhaps having several story arcs taking place in different time periods with different sets of characters?
@@mosesracal6758 Well people mostly want the maps for a general idea of what is where. Several times I kept getting confused about whether the GTU was in the North West or East because there was no solid map to convey where the Union was expanding into or fighting in.
One thing that definitely worked was the moral gray area of the GTU. And the fact that to a lot of us could empathise with the GTU and all actions taken by humanity in this universe. Also the fact that the story was so well told that so many of the viewers felt at least some form of nationalistic pride towards the GTU. These are personally some of the things that made season 1 great and will hopefully make season 2 even better!!
I literally cried every time it seemed like the GTU was going to fall. I feel more nationalistic for the GTU than I do my actual nation and the Imperium of Man
@@cosuinofdeath The show is best format for this story. The show with competent writers, of course. Without, you know, "kinda forgotten fleets". But the book is needed to introduce this story to masses.
More explanations of what scientific/technological developments gave the GTU the edge. What made them different? Exploring the cultural and ethical impacts of certain issues. Artificial intelligence, bio-augmentation, planetary bombardment, terraforming, colonialism and trade. Following a single family throughout the GTU history would be cool. A family that is always near the centre of administration and power but not in control of it. A set of eyes we could see events through to create a more grounded, human perspective.
I also feel that more focus should have been put on some of the leadership involved. Though they occasionally said who the High Marshall was and did reference debate within the halls of power on certain issues, they never really elaborated. It felt like Terra and all the other nations were just entities rather than organizations made up of people. I also with the alien societies were fleshed out more. With the exception of the Jazz-Cavaz, the Xa'ni, and the Tyrum (I don't know if that's how they're meant to be spelled), we never learned anything about the history of the other nations, what they believe in, or their reasoning behind their actions. It all felt really faceless to me. This is really disappointing, as the GTU herself is very fleshed out as a nation and society, but that doesn't really extend to the other nations involved. It's for this reason that I turned to the wiki on the GTU. I was just that fascinated by this fictional world that I wanted to know more! I wouldn't have minded seeing longer videos and having to wait for longer to see them if they could just go into more detail.
Dude...the feelings this evoked! I became a patriot of a nation that doesn't exist lol Dude thelittle details, ground warfare and politics made it amazing! The map you made in photoshop was amazing! Perhaps create a template and simply add the lines denoting boundaries.
Congrats to the entire team. You've produced one of the best forms of entertainment media of the year for me. I fell in love with the GTU and their story of struggle, retribution, and fierce independence. Bravo!
Congratulations Templin Institute (Marc and Larissa and also the others that contribute) really hoping for the next season. LONG LIVE THE UNION. Netflix should fund this..
Don’t care what you think I loved it ,I was invested in the gtu, the leaders , the struggles, failures and victory’s. If u guys do a project like this again I’d watch
For the next submissions of original alien empires, you can post in the discord a file with the points needed before send: like a short history of the empire, traits, ideology, why exists, posible future.... I will wait with hope the next season. PS: Best FTL for an empire
that's what patriotism is.. feeling proud about something that's mostly fictional. belonging to and wanting to die for something that completely lives inside your head. feeling all warm and fuzzy about some picture you have about some land ... that ain't yours ... and its cities, filled with people ... with whom you share just a language ... and nobody asked you if you liked it ... but you're supposed to feel, care, and die for all of it. most people just cross-categorize patriotism with the faces they know and love, like mother and father, brother and sister. you can find the gist of it in any patriotic rhetoric ever. "we're all brothers and sisters ... in the motherland ... the land of your forefathers" -- as if this awkward familial correlation has to be reiterated and expanded until it becomes all-inclusive. no wonder people are racists, a line has to be drawn somewhere, and it's always good when such boundaries are goddamn obvious. oh and let's add parties interested in inspiring you to feel that way, or parties that would imprison you if you rather wouldn't feel that way, and we're getting somewhere. mostly patriotism is just what happens when complete mindlessness and social programming meet together in order to premeditate a perfect excuse for killing someone to get his oil, diamond mines, and women. though arguably it also happens on that someone's side, to protect said properties. sadly those who felt as exalted, had only patriotism to keep them going. and the feeling is really ... well, if taxes were an emotion, that's how patriotism would feel. you can't just press F and get it done.
Please find some way to continue the GTU’s story. I still want to know stuff like how it’s military is structured, what technology is like, what (if any) civil liberties do people have. It would be really cool to see a ground battle animated with elite storm troops in their sci-fi uniforms with sci-fi tanks and sci-fi fighter jets invading an alien planet.
I know I'm a full 2 years late, but I only just learned of Stellaris Invicta recently, and all I have to say is that it's fantastic. You may be able to improve in the areas you mentioned, because almost anything can be improved to some extent in theory, but honestly? I think the quality you already produced is amazing, and practically deserving of full Hollywood style 6 or 7 figure budgets. You guys did a great job. Well done.
Only followed this as a 'viewer', but was totally taken by this project. Honesty, one of the finest sci-fi things I've seen in years. Amazing and epic. Well done.
I like the idea of updated maps at the end of each episode. Maybe you can have an episode at the end of next season that shows us the map as it stands every 50-80 years? or perhaps when big wars & events happen.
The main complaint was how informal the streams were. I thought they would have roleplay or be immesive, and based on the first few I saw, it was just jokes and casual talk. The narrative episodes were some of my favorite youtube videos ever, but I just couldn't get into the streams. I can't wait for season 2!
One of the things I liked a lot, was the fact that Twitch viewers could sometimes vote on certain decisions, and to find them later recounted as "major discussions within the GTU government". Maybe silly of me, but I liked that there were real discussions and splits going on and that it wasn't just a narrative device.
With regards to available pictures, don't worry about it. The story was so engaging that using the same picture multiple times didnt bother at all. Like the good old days where people were on the edge of their seat listening to the radio.
I absolutely loved the series. In terms of immersion it was on par for me with the Mass Effect Universe (not in the depth of background information, but in how alive you made it seem), so thumbs up from me. What I believe would improve the series even more would be more Atlas episodes and additional worldbuilding through similar formats outside of the main episodes, like Dossier episodes on certain characters, showcases of institutions, etc.
The bottom line is that it was the great storytelling that made the series. Also I would have no problem seeing in game maps showing territory shifts and maybe with markers showing where the event currently being talked about is.
A lot of the issues can be fixed with open polls and open sourcing. Let everyone vote for factions round robbin. Let everyone submit artwork relating to major events and again open it to polling. With respect to mapping you can use some of the stellaris mods to clean up the in game look and/or use the same animation style you used in the Tactics series.
Don't rush. Take your time. Don't forget the fact the we really loved Season 1 and we want a Season 2 at least equally amazing. Wait till you have a really damn good scenario. We can wait. Thanks for all the amazing job you do.
perhaps switch the voting and submitting systems so that patrons can submit alien empires and viewers can vote on what faction you will play just a thought also Tyrum need to be a possible LP faction for next invicta (:
"It went pretty well" is a huge understatement in my opinion. Creating something new and original for today's critical audience and for it to be almost universaly loved is a huge achievement. As for maps, I wouln't mind ingame maps at all, however I believe that you would have no trouble finding a talented artist in your comunity to make a great looking map. Season 2 can't come soon enough.
What if humans had increased their lifespan to max 350 years, just so it made sense to how Terrans could populate multiple systems in a galaxy in just over 500 years. That is an exponential growth which seems a little far fetched for our own limits
I can't put in to words how much I enjoyed the Stellaris Invicta series on the GTU. And I love you guys so much that in my eyes, you literally can do no wrong. That being said, I would like to echo some of the commentors on here by saying that I think maps would be an excellent addition. They dont have to be that central, or that big of a focus, but every now and then I think it would be refreshing and helpful to include them.
You guys should seriously consider making a book series out of this world you've built. I would definitely buy it. It could be told by multiple pov characters from different tiers in the GTU.
I think you all did a fantastic job over all with the summary episodes. I didnt have the time to catch the streams tho I did feel like I got to watch the GTU evolve all the same. Keep it up guys!!
I thought this series was amazing, your story crafting is amazing based on the game details you are given. Don’t ever worry about the game not going the way you want. You could make a million of these series and if they are narrated and given anywhere near as much thought as these then they would be worth the watch even it’s it’s based on an empire that capitulates in the first 100 years of space travel! Keep up the good work this is amazing!
What I think would be really cool for Season 2? Have a created civilization, like the GTU, as the focus (player controlled) civ, but have all the CPU players as civs from other games/movies/novels/etc. I'm not sure what the IP restrictions would be or the time/work needed to add them, but the thought of the GTU in the same galaxy as the Galactic Empire, Citadel Council, Protoss, Tyranids, etc. would be really cool to see.
I absolutely loved you first Season. I hope we will see many more. In order to help with the issues of Maps and races a wiki style page might help. Or a least a glossary of the series would be a least a little help on clearing a bit of the confusion. Maybe even some kind of presentation for the main Empires of the game. About the map issue it would have been nice if there was a way in Stellaris to generate a map from the game in an external file like you can in CK2. I am not sure if such a feature exist in Stellaris but I do not have another solution for this. From my point of view maps in a story like this would be a great way to enhance the story telling.
There are PLENTY of mods that enhance the visuals of the map for stellaris. Some that ive tried say they're outdated, yet seem to function perfectly fine for recent builds.
i am so looking forward to your guys next stream. I have even taken your idea about turning a game in to a story line and am using for my own scifi documentary story. Can't wait for Season 2.
Honslty I absolutely loved this series it's definitely one of my favourite custom stories of all time, I didn't feel like I missed anything tbh, I don't have tkme to watch twitch streames and this is amazing,
Consider looking at The Great War channel and how they utilize their maps. They are fairly simple in design but convey a wealth of information. I know that'd involve likely hiring an animator, but hey - patreon goals, right?
Season one was pretty interesting. I liked how the Greater Terran Union was able to have allies to combat the threat the unbidden posed to the galaxy. After all whenever it comes to dealing with extraterrestrial civilizations capable of spaceflight allies with galactic neighbors that are friendly will be needed since not every alien species is friendly like the Tyrum and other hostile alien species.
A Misc Tales or Small Tales video group would be cool. All those smaller events that had to effect on the Greater Terran Union as a whole, but certainly effected smaller citizen groups. These would fill out some of the day to day lives and knowledge of the Union.
Also if you want more variety in slides maybe taking some fan submissions on top of your commission artists for the next season might add some more variety, personally I liked the familiarity because it helped me match what was going on and where about it’s it was but I’m excited to see where your stories go next!
I recently discovered this series and was lucky to binge watch all of this season, back to back. I'm IN LOVE with the concept, I'm not familiar with the games (if it's based on a game) but I do enjoy the Sci-fi interstellar storyline. This series can be great for a live-action adaptation! But instead of the usual sci-fi tv shows, with regular casts and a linear story, it should be structured like Netflix's Black Mirror! A collection of short-films detailing storylines based on each Terran era, From the alien invasion to the GTU galaxy expansion. This would be a great idea!! So I hope someone in the team reads my comment! :D
Can't wait for season 2. I would say that I didn't watch the live streams and as a result I did feel that I missed out on some of what made this a great series. I would have like the RUclips videos to be a bit longer. I liked the documentary style of it. Without a visual aid it was a bit hard to keep track of all the aliens that the GTU found. Perhaps instead of map if you did a small census style document at the end of an episode that could help the people like me that don't have enough time to watch the live stream archives keep track of the size of the GTU / Empire that we are hearing about. Thanks for the great story and I can't wait to hear more from all of you at The Templin Institute!
The series was INCREDIBLY satisfying, my only issues was as you stated i would have liked some maps, the photoshop map with the colored plans for the GTU was incredibly satisfying for me! And some art work of the different races from time to time when talking about them because names only got a bit blurry for me. You mentioned that you guys received over 800 applications for races and have no system to handle submissions, well if you ever need help in this area with a system that can handle such a task i would love to take a crack at it to support the series, or other kind of submissions.
Might be even more of a headache for all I know, but an idea on the reused art thing: Maybe you could use some kind of, "modular" art, for lack of a better word? Something where you can change or swap in certain parts of the image for reflecting changes in the passage of time or that it's different albeit similar events unfolding?
I was greatly impressed and entertained by this series. I bought the Stellaris game and its DLC during the series. I would be overjoyed to see more of this type of series for Stellaris and maybe another popular game.
I think that more and more people are liking the idea of a Human space empire that stands on its own in a galaxy that constantly tests them. It’s why a lot of Mass Effect fan fiction I’ve seen that’s really popular involves the Systems Alliance doesn’t join up with the Council and makes alliances with other groups in the galaxy.
I think what I liked about the GTU is that it was more of an unironic take on the Terran Federation from Starship Troopers: Not overly romanticized like in the books, and not a complete joke like movies. Meritocracy is always really interesting to explore.
Considering what little you had to work with, I think Season 1 of Stellaris Invicta was a booming success. The only thing I would like you to mind in future for the recap-videos, is to note the name of the High Marshall or whoever is in charge when an important event happens. When we talk WW2, we talk Roosevelt, Hitler, Churchill and Stalin. When we talk about the American Civil War, we talk about Lincoln and Davis. When a war with the Algean Republic breaks out, I would have likened to know under which High Marshall that happens.
Stellaris Invicta was my favorite series on RUclips and I was so excited every month for the new episode. And I couldn't wait till I was off work to watch the stream I missed and I cant wait for season 2
Stellaris Invicta - Post - mortem addon Another thing, the polling! As I review the live stream I’ve noticed that you and Larissa did a lot of polling during your live session … and you also had some polling on RUclips and on Patreon … after having taken a step back, the whole ordeal seemed to me, kinda chaotic and disorderly. The fix for that should be: keep the twitch polling for the (not so) small events that pop up in the game to keep the stream rolling … but make sure to keep some for the Patreons’ members. My suggestion on that would be to make a list of categories of “important” things that will have an impact on your game and have the patreon’s member's vote on it. Those categories could be: Declare war, sue for peace, create a new sector, where to put a certain type of building or improvement on a planet/station, or which ascension perk should you chose, etc.? I recommend a patreon vote per stellaris-Invicta Game session. This way, you’ll make the patreon votes feel more important and meaning full for the game.
I’d like to see the in-game maps, portraits of the alien races, and what groundbreaking technologies/buildings/units you used at each part of the game.
The in-game maps are a useful visual reference I would have liked to see used. Depending on series length and how often its helpful to illustrate something, making a customized map might be a good idea, though- I'd maybe suggest drawing up a "blank" view of the galaxy that you can then trace over using the in-game map as a reference? That way you could get the systems and hyperlanes in place, but draw your own borders, place your own text, etc.
Mien suggestions: -Don't only play as humans in the next one. Playing as humans can be made interesting, especially with backstories like the one you made for the GTU, but to do upwards of 3 seasons as humans would get boring when considering the possibilities of other species and how they can be made to have interesting backstories to how they ended up going inter-stellar. *I came up with the below on the spot so it might not be that good... I'm a little biased as the one who came up with it. But you get mien point and I'm sure you can come up with better.* For example: The Grushnut are an amphibious race that share their planet with the Nutgrush (I'm on the fence myself as to whether or not that naming scheme is genius or the dumbest thing to ever exist), who are an avian species. Due to their different areas of habitation, they used to live in harmony with trade deals and relatively few wars as it wasn't like there was any point in them seizing territory. However, the Grushnut found out that the polar regions of their planet contained so much ice that, if it were melted, the Grushnut could easily live anywhere on the planet and this caused great conflict within the polar regions as the Grushnut and the Nutgrush fought over control of these polar regions for the fate of their planet. Eventually the polar caps were melted due to heat missiles and the deliberate burning of fossil fuels above the water by the Grushnut and the Nutgrush were left with no choice but to live on islands that used to be mountain peaks. The Nutgrush decided to fight back by deliberately poisoning the world's oceans, leading to most of the very space the Grushnut had taken becoming uninhabitable. However, there came the Prophet Grush-Grush, who found two popular religions among both species that were very similar and made a merger of the two, promising peace and harmony for the two races if they followed this new faith. The majority of the governments of the nations of both species were opposed to this religion but Grush-Grush was able to sway a large portion of the populations of both species, being the figurehead of a religious rebellion by both species against the governments they blamed for how things had gone between both species. Through sheer numbers and guerilla tactics, Grush-Grush's religion, which was named Nut-Nut, came to be the government to all species on their homeworld. It took over a century of progress before the planet was fully healed from the damage done to it by the conflict between the two races and scientific advances made from merging the technologies that each species had previously hid from the other made it possible to create advanced cities where both species could live alongside one another. Some decades later, in which there were some reforms to how the Nut-Nut Church operated, the Gnusht Nation took to the stars, hoping to find life beyond their star and to spread their faith, which encouraged cooperation between all, to any sapient life forms they found.
After reviewing your last post, I went over the whole saga, and here what should have been done (IMO) to improve the experience. (Warning, it will be labor intensive.)
Step one: Create some kind of Wiki page for your series
Step 2: Make every submitted Alien Empire an official entry on your wiki page … and as you encounter them in your game, you activate their link into your wiki page. That link will lead the fan to the submitted alien official page.
Step 3: Have those who submitted those aliens, to come up with a background and a story for those alien up to the start of the game and then try to come up with a narrative on why certain decisions came to be in your series…
Step 4: On that Wiki page, add a TIMELINE! A timeline will be very useful to complete your monthly briefing of the series.
Step 5: A map! This will also be a great place to add maps detailing the galactic situation as the stream progress … but also a great place to add more custom maps such as star systems, planetary colonies, stations or even alien structures.
Last, use the game to have some of your follower, to input details you might have missed, there. IE … in one of your streams, you have found a planet with titanesque lifeforms … you could have someone imputed a few files on what kind of megafauna it was, their domestication (if any) and how they were used in a planetary invasion (short story).
In conclusion, any extra material or world building, that would enhance your story, could go there.
Note: www.worldanvil.com was recommended to me for this kind of work … you may want to look at it.
I very much enjoyed Stellaris Invicta! One Idea for limiting applications for alien empires could be an elaborate backstory. Maybe the work of detailing a good part of an entire civilizations history might deter some people from sending their proposals and those who still do will be way more detailed and could be included in the regular episodes. The map problem was a huge one for me. since I didn't watch the streams I had no Idea where things took place, that really bugged me. A way around this could be just using the ingame map. You could detail only the section of space where the narrated events took place and leave the rest as it is ingame. Also I don't think the renaming of systems is an issue, because in the Real World places get renamed all the time. Some Ideas for the second season could be: A Federation-Builder nation, that doesn't expand a lot and relies more on the power of their partners and they themselves concentrate on technology and diplomacy with only a small fleet. The exact opposite: A repressive Regime, enslaving every race they come across (Although that might get boring pretty fast) A Machine empire, which tries to stop all wars in the galaxy by conquering all biological races and confining them into a life of luxury on reservate worlds A spiritual empire that goes fully rampant and tries to wipe out all other life because it is against their god an religion A pacifist spiritual empire, that sees the L-Cluster as their lost home and will do anything to regain control over it and then leave the known galaxy to settle in the L-Cluster. A Ultra Capitalist Megacorp which expands by means of the market, staying small in size but huge in influence, with branch offices on a lot of alien worlds These are just some concepts I think could be interesting. You already set the bar very high with the GTU and I really would like to see more lore on it, but i am not sure on how this could be done. In any case, I am looking forward to the second season!
I don't have money to support you right now, but I will buy one of your Tees as soon as my financial situation improves, I've already suscribe to your channel
If you are going with maps, I would request the Photoshop method. I think that even those of us that would like maps, would inevitably feel like something was off if the Artwork is suddenly replaced with a Stelaris map (as you're watching I mean). Either way, another thing that I would suggest, is that you keep the map heavily zoomed in on whatever is being mentioned. This creates a feeling of 'part of a bigger whole' and leaves a lot to the imagination (the strongest force that benefited Stellaris Invicta) while at the same time allowing viewers to get a general idea of whats up.
If you do a second season, please do more GTU. Expanding into other galaxies and stuff. I’m so invested in this nation that I don’t want to see another faction rise to power. I just want more GTU.
I hope one day that you can build a mega gate that takes you to other galaxies. Like a end game for you to experiance your galactic empire and send you into a universal empire. Whether to start a whole new game with your species or to act as a new challenge for your empire to secure your gate with what you first sent and invade and expand your empire into a already empire filled galaxy.
Let me give you my input from someone who never saw a stream and only saw the video breakdowns themselves. Maps will definetly help. Even small local maps will give the viewer a clear idea of what is going on and can also learn to associate certain areas with certain events. Like, if there was a border where conflicts constantly happened, it would make sense for us to see this border and see how it is surrounded by three places at once, and suddenly we can put together why. Also, this is super personal, but hear me out. I think figures and personal accounts should be something you do. For example, taking over the Wusari was a big thing in the bevinning of the campaign, one that was met with apparent backlash within the state itself. This would've been the perfect time to introduce someone like a politician or a public speaker who can give a personal speech or quote. Ex. A representative from Earth called the actions "Born of malice and utter hypocrisy." And "they threaten to uproot this nation in its infancy." Same thing can apply to generals and soldiers. What if we got a firsthand account of a soldier who was part of an invasion. Ex. A soldier from the first platoon wrote: "We came in hard, I almost knocked my own teeth out from how much the craft bounced around. We were so disoriented upon exiting, we had to stumble away from the shots being fired at us." Also, another way to keep individuals in the story would just be a simple name drop or portrait every now and then. Or evem gice credit to who was leading your armies and fleets. Ex. "This strategy was recommended by the Fleet commander, Adam Demarr, personally. He was the oldest man in the room, but also the most experienced, and even his detractors found some modicum of respect for a commander who had never retreated from a battle." Stuff like this can get people even more invested
I really enjoyed the campain, the art etc was amazing, but it was the music and voice over that got my blood pumping, I’m so glad the GTU mod is out and I am using it!
One hour after this video goes live (at 2pm MST) we're playing the second part of our great Community Stellaris Game! Catch the action on Twitch! www.twitch.tv/templininstitute
A MAP!!!!
Noice
Will there ever be a GTU phone case by chance, cause thet would he great
What about some help from other channels for world building and making short stories about live, crime etc that expand on the lore.
@@thomas.02 exactly. If they had spread it out by doing more world building, they could have made each crisis feel more severe.
Being honest, the professionalism and quality of storytelling displayed in Stellaris Invicta was damn impressive.
My only problems was, as you said, the lack of maps shown, to show where event took place. Aside from that I think it was an excellent series and hope that you will do the same with other Paradox games
Exactly my problem. Maps are needed, even if it is something stylised and rough. One gets completely overwhelmed and lost.
I would like to see them do something with Hearts of Iron IV
Also, pictures of the Alien Species. The names confuse me alot
I Personally want them to play stellaris season 2 with gigastructures mod on and another one that gives 3 more ship types, just to see how epic they can make their nation
EU4 would be awesome!
I laughed when you said Aspec since he always tells us what galaxy mod he’s using while playing a fanatic purifier BDSM cat girl empire
Oh god, HE'S the one the patch notes were referencing...
I think the GTU universe legitimately has enough potential to support multiple shows and films, like Star Trek
So basically a focus on a set of characters set in the GTU within a certain period of GTU history? And perhaps having several story arcs taking place in different time periods with different sets of characters?
Make it 15 series, with 7 seasons of 24 episodes each. That should be enough to cover the parts we care about
Agreed. I kinda want a Mass Effect-style RPG set in this universe now, lol
I don't think anyone would mind the look of the in game maps if you wanted to post those instead of a recreated map.
On this, in game maps don't look to bad if you remove the hyperlane lines using that little set of options down the right hand bottom side.
@@mosesracal6758 Well people mostly want the maps for a general idea of what is where. Several times I kept getting confused about whether the GTU was in the North West or East because there was no solid map to convey where the Union was expanding into or fighting in.
@@mosesracal6758 Just dont show the entirety of the map then. Only what the GTU has discover. Problem solved, and we have a map.
@@mosesracal6758 there are many many canon maps from both star wars and star trek
You can’t really describe where things are without it being super confusing in this case.
If Templin opened a writing tender and the winner got selected to write the official short/novel, that would be damned awesome!
Pretty well? I think I speak for at least a few people, I think you did an amazing job and cannot wait for season 2.
Absolutely. I cried few times. It was amazing.
I literally cried every time it seemed like the GTU was going to fall. I feel more nationalistic for the GTU than I do my actual nation and the Imperium of Man
We need a book or TV show about GTU!! This will be amazing!
100%
A book would be cool
I'm an 3d animator so if there any 3d modeller out there up for modelling and rigging I'm game for making an animated show.
@@cosuinofdeath The show is best format for this story. The show with competent writers, of course. Without, you know, "kinda forgotten fleets". But the book is needed to introduce this story to masses.
@@darkleome5409 so books the a TV followed by a set of movies that covers the book's story.
Sorry but I was hooked it felt so real and I really felt like a citizen of the GTU I was INVESTED
Like official historians?
So like Space Blackadder?
I became a patriot of a nation that doesn't exist lol
Dude thelittle details, ground warfare and politics made it amazing!
The map you made in photoshop was amazing! Perhaps create a template and simply add the lines denoting boundaries.
"Mentioned along the likes of the Galactic Empire and the Imperium of Man" GEE I WONDER WHY
Sam D space racists!
At least the unions got a good excuse.
Who else already misses it?
I think showing what the aliens look like when they are first mentioned may help
Congrats to the entire team. You've produced one of the best forms of entertainment media of the year for me. I fell in love with the GTU and their story of struggle, retribution, and fierce independence. Bravo!
Congratulations Templin Institute
(Marc and Larissa and also the others that contribute) really hoping for the next season.
@Tesla-Effect Well i mean with the traits and style what its expected, if you are expansionist, diplomatic... That kind of things
I feel more patriotic about the gtu then my own country
Same here... I even plan to make my own custom GTU army T-shirt.
that's what patriotism is.. feeling proud about something that's mostly fictional.
belonging to and wanting to die for something that completely lives inside your head.
feeling all warm and fuzzy about some picture you have about some land ... that ain't yours ... and its cities, filled with people ... with whom you share just a language ... and nobody asked you if you liked it ... but you're supposed to feel, care, and die for all of it.
most people just cross-categorize patriotism with the faces they know and love, like mother and father, brother and sister. you can find the gist of it in any patriotic rhetoric ever.
*TERRA INVICTA!*
E merighị ụwa!
Same..in my dream in the future humanity will united as one nation like GTU
THIS. ^
Your Stellaris invicta series actually convinced me to buy the game. Keep it up.
Same, wasn’t really interested in it before
The main complaint was how informal the streams were. I thought they would have roleplay or be immesive, and based on the first few I saw, it was just jokes and casual talk. The narrative episodes were some of my favorite youtube videos ever, but I just couldn't get into the streams.
I can't wait for season 2!
I'll be counting down to the Series 2 announcement.
In the meantime, I hope you'll do special Stellaris Invicta videos for Atlas, Bestiary and HiCom.
I would petition for Paradox to have the Templin Institute be a faction in Stellaris. Probably a Fallen Empire.
Or a faction similar to the caravan, who just roll through and categorize you in exchange for some of their intel, maybe
Can’t wait for season 2! ONWARDS, ANTARES!
Marc! Again, thank you for all these long hours of entertainment.
The bottom line is that it was the great storytelling that made the series. Also I would have no problem seeing in game maps showing territory shifts and maybe with markers showing where the event currently being talked about is.
I binged watched Invicta for the first time yesterday. I wasn't expecting to be so hooked! You guys did such a great job on this. LOVE :)
This Greater Terran Union reminded me a lot of "Starship Troopers"... The book not the movie.
I love Invicta, as soon as I get my graduate stipend in oct I’m signing up. Keep it up guys !
perhaps switch the voting and submitting systems so that
patrons can submit alien empires
and
viewers can vote on what faction you will play
just a thought
also Tyrum need to be a possible LP faction for next invicta (:
Honest if season 2 has no map will hard for me to follow i can't watch 2 hour streaming! like 34 time!
I can say this: The artwork was an awesome addition to the story. These beautiful images worked despite the limitations of the game's own graphics.
A Commonwealth of Man campaign would be amazing!!! With the goal of exploring the galaxy and finding/reuniting with Old Earth.
I really enjoyed the series. It was excellent. I´m really looking foward for next season!
You guys should seriously consider making a book series out of this world you've built. I would definitely buy it. It could be told by multiple pov characters from different tiers in the GTU.
Where’s season two!? Seriously you folks need to put out another set of that type work. You all did an incredible & engaging job.
For next season, you could represent ground invasions and other events with footage from other games.
I think captain shack(XP gamers) does that.
i am so looking forward to your guys next stream.
I learned that nationalism and propaganda are really powerful. I was ralling pro a fictional empire. I hating the enemies and hungry for vengeance.
I love playing as the GTU in the game, the mod you guys offered in the workshop is amazing
The series was INCREDIBLY satisfying, my only issues was as you stated i would have liked some maps,
the photoshop map with the colored plans for the GTU was incredibly satisfying for me! And some art work of the different races from time to time when talking about them
because names only got a bit blurry for me.
The narrator was a huge strength. She has a great cadence and the script was great for her.
I was greatly impressed and entertained by this series. I bought the Stellaris game and its DLC during the series. I would be overjoyed to see more of this type of series for Stellaris and maybe another popular game.
im just happy about the possibility of a second season. This is genius marketing as i always load up stellaris after watching a video
Ay listen idc if they looked bad I want maps bro
Our life for humanity!
For the GTU!
Mist Man should be a featured mystery for every Stellaris Invicta universe. Each time, slightly different, but not really.
Stellaris Invicta was my favorite series on RUclips and I was so excited every month for the new episode. And I couldn't wait till I was off work to watch the stream I missed and I cant wait for season 2
Maybe we should have an extra Galactic expedition of the GTU be in the next campaign as an advanced start
Stellaris Invicta - Post - mortem addon
Another thing, the polling!
Loved this sooo much. Was definitely one of the best sci if stories I have heard. The best part is that it could end at any time.
Your series is what got me into Stellaris. Thanks for turning me onto a great game!
Mien suggestions:
-Don't only play as humans in the next one.
But you get mien point and I'm sure you can come up with better.*
For example: The Grushnut are an amphibious race that share their planet with the Nutgrush (I'm on the fence myself as to whether or not that naming scheme is genius or the dumbest thing to ever exist), who are an avian species.
Stellaris Invicta-Season one (Post-mortem)
Imagine as a concept. Saving private ryan style cinematography and the story of the GTU
Some Ideas for the second season could be:
A Federation-Builder nation, that doesn't expand a lot and relies more on the power of their partners and they themselves concentrate on technology and diplomacy with only a small fleet.
The exact opposite: A repressive Regime, enslaving every race they come across (Although that might get boring pretty fast)
A Machine empire, which tries to stop all wars in the galaxy by conquering all biological races and confining them into a life of luxury on reservate worlds
A spiritual empire that goes fully rampant and tries to wipe out all other life because it is against their god an religion
A pacifist spiritual empire, that sees the L-Cluster as their lost home and will do anything to regain control over it and then leave the known galaxy to settle in the L-Cluster.
A Ultra Capitalist Megacorp which expands by means of the market, staying small in size but huge in influence, with branch offices on a lot of alien worlds
These are just some concepts I think could be interesting.
It was quite a compelling series, and I enjoyed it.
If you do a second season, please do more GTU. Expanding into other galaxies and stuff. I’m so invested in this nation that I don’t want to see another faction rise to power. I just want more GTU.
I'd honestly rather it be a completely new faction. So many possible things you can do with this game.
Absolutely amazing season 1! I stopped playing Stellaris but I still followed your first season and will be following your next one!
I think the map in stellaris looks fine, expecially if you have some mods.
Yeah, I honestly don't know why he hates the game maps so much.
This was a great series. I already miss it ...
Ex. A representative from Earth called the actions "Born of malice and utter hypocrisy." And "they threaten to uproot this nation in its infancy."
Same thing can apply to generals and soldiers. What if we got a firsthand account of a soldier who was part of an invasion.
Ex. A soldier from the first platoon wrote: "We came in hard, I almost knocked my own teeth out from how much the craft bounced around. We were so disoriented upon exiting, we had to stumble away from the shots being fired at us."
Also, another way to keep individuals in the story would just be a simple name drop or portrait every now and then. Or evem gice credit to who was leading your armies and fleets.
Ex. "This strategy was recommended by the Fleet commander, Adam Demarr, personally. He was the oldest man in the room, but also the most experienced, and even his detractors found some modicum of respect for a commander who had never retreated from a battle."
Stuff like this can get people even more invested
FINALY THEY MENTIONED (is that how you spell that) MAPS
I really enjoyed the campain, the art etc was amazing, but it was the music and voice over that got my blood pumping, I’m so glad the GTU mod is out and I am using it!
