"The Rock" is an adrenaline-fueled thriller that combines the talents of some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage, and Ed Harris. The plot centers around a group of rogue military personnel led by General Francis X. Hummel (Ed Harris) who take control of Alcatraz Island, holding tourists hostage and threatening to launch deadly rockets containing deadly VX nerve gas upon San Francisco unless their demands are met.
Enter Dr. Stanley Goodspeed (Nicolas Cage), a young and brilliant FBI chemical weapons specialist, and John Mason (Sean Connery), an enigmatic and legendary British spy, who is the only man to have successfully escaped from Alcatraz. The unlikely duo teams up to infiltrate the heavily fortified island, facing perilous challenges and intense combat along the way.
The remastered 4K UHD HDR version elevates "The Rock" to new heights, providing viewers with an unparalleled viewing experience. The enhanced resolution allows for crisp, detailed visuals, making every action sequence and explosive moment feel more realistic than ever before. The High Dynamic Range (HDR) brings vibrant colors and deep contrasts, intensifying the film's atmosphere and adding an extra layer of visual brilliance to iconic scenes.
Not only has the visual aspect been revitalized, but the audio quality has also been meticulously enhanced. The movie's already memorable score, composed by Hans Zimmer, is elevated to new levels, providing a heart-pounding backdrop to the high-octane action unfolding on the screen. Every gunshot, explosion, and thrilling dialogue exchange comes to life with unprecedented clarity, immersing the audience in the heart of the action.
While "The Rock" continues to be celebrated for its action-packed plot and memorable performances, the remastered version gives both die-hard fans and newcomers a chance to witness the film like never before. The attention to detail in the restoration process preserves the essence of the original while bringing it into the modern age, making it a must-watch for action enthusiasts and cinema lovers alike.
Relive the heart-stopping adventure, iconic one-liners, and explosive moments that have solidified "The Rock" as a timeless classic. @@cashewnuttel9054- You're absolutely right: Harris and Biehn comparing pompous notes here about martial virtue and then the SEALs getting slaughtered is utterly ridiculous. If it wasn't for the "accidental" falling of the stones, just how long WOULD they have shouted at each other? Biehn should have surrendered his team as it was the only real option and then Connery and Cage would have the reasonable objective of freeing them instead of somehow impossibly taking on the Marines by themselves and not only staying alive but winning. If surrender really isn't in their code, why do SEALs have SERE training?

yes. there is russians call that movie USA propaganda. But its wrong. The main patriotic scene was during briefing from Humm3l after they meet new arrived troopers.
Patriotism are not about outh/duty. Patriotism and radicalism are the same thing, two sides of the same medal.
Especially for USA residents. They understand that as no one else. USA is most federative republic in the world (yet they have issues with federal government trying to enforce their supremacy sometimes). While local mayors, governors and federals contlict each other in goals to get more power above other (maybe in real favor of own state/county), citizens just have that in mind. American patriotism is not about USA flag. Your home first, your town second, county, state and only then country. This is how supposed to work the USA Law system as well.
They as no one else understand that those who called traitors if they luck will be called patriots in time. USA have unique system and history.
Im a russian. From Russia. From Moskva! I know how people can miss patriotism with fanatism. Kremlin is only what most overwhelming majority! - of ppl here have patriotism for. Whatever city they are from. No one here in Russia really care about their home. Andeveryone hate Moskva and moskovians. But "f@p" on Kremlin. Just broken something in their mind.
Another nation create patriotism "propaganda" (for real patriotism) - Japanese. They have fiction anime movie Jin-Roh about country government got corrupted by another country (fiction end of WW2 where germans win and enforce their power to their allies). Tbis anime show how fanatically of both sides fight each other. Bot sides are japanese. Both get to some bad point, ready to destroy and kill everything around by bombs. And yet besides both radicalism, only one side are do that for patriotic feels. Radicals.
While special forces dealing with radicals are "not humans covered as chain dogs [of the government], but wild wolfes covered as humans".
And this is some plot issue of the subj movie. Anderson if he feally with Hummel by his feels, understand that Hummel are patriot here and not the commands who send Anderson - plus concern of live of everyones lives here - should follow General Hummel orders. What patriotism they die for? Why kill each others(cew marines get killed in that scene too)? I cant point a weapon even to those russians who i belive are enemy of mine country. Who right now and for last decade bombing cities of Ukraine.
How such death can be patriotic? Eaither he not belive and was not "god agree with the General", or he was not real patriot but one of some of americans who like russians - believe in flag instead of believe in home.
Your country - is people around you. Who your responsible for or just neighbours. You ones are americans... or whatever else you are from. Our people around this shower room. At this scene they all are USA as it is.
      Never the flag.

One of my favorite villains of all times: uncommon, man of honor, with beliefs and soul. Ed Harris is great here.
I like Hummel even more than Storm and Godspeed.
That's a rare movie, when a villain is better than a "good guy".

I feel the same way about Thanos. I know it's too different movie types, but both had good intentions, convictions, and souls no matter how crazy their actions may seem.

    • @ufukpolat3480
      @ufukpolat3480 2 месяца назад

Good or bad... Intentions are personal thus subjective and whether you agree with them or not has no bearing on how that reflects on the character of the so called villain. Bin Laden is a villain for many but a hero for many more. His methods couldn't be distinguished from the US military and it's even possible to simply argue that he had more justification for his actions than Bush did invading Iraq. These are just archetypes instilled in your, lets face it, semi functional brain to which you've been conditioned to give certain responses. That's the power of propaganda for you.
