Exciter isn't usually considered Thrash. They are more in that Speed Metal genre like Anvil and Agent Steel. Maybe replace it with Dark Angel, Voivod or Nuclear Assault 😁

OMG Vektor. Oh yes. While I might not go as far as calling them the best, as competition is so very high, if somebody said Vektor I would totally respect their opinion and see that they have a point. They are, in many ways, the ultimate band at what they are doing. They must have some of the best musicians in Thrash, ever. It's their 1st album for me. After that, they remind me of the avenues that Schuldiner and Death went down with The Sound Of Perseverance. Still great iow.

So I did an advanced search for band name: Hellbound, genre: Thrash, status: Active and that left only one band from Croatia. It said 'Lyrical Themes: Booze, Women, Life' lol.
I don't care if theyre "mainstream". Megadeth 90s lineup takes the cake melodically and rhythmically. Marty was so fucking good and his playing so beautiful. he and Dave made a perfect duo. And Nick fit that band like a glove and was so fucking intense. Roast me all you want....
I was waiting for Megadeth too. I only just recently got into their music despite having been a metalhead for a couple of years now, and they are by far my favorite thrash band. I have been listening to songs off of Rust in Peace on a daily basis.
Wow, really surprising not a single damn mention of the most dedicated thrash band ever, OVERKILL! Wow they have been putting out STELLAR albums regularly not ever 3-4 years btw, since 85’. Still sound amazing live to this day. Bobby’s voice is still killer better tham most of the older thrash singers.

Riley Gale was a great presence and singer. RIP. While he is irreplaceable - as in nobody could fill exactly the same shoes or do exactly the same job, I really hope they find a good new singer with something new to offer and carry on making great music. I haven't heard any updates on what they are going to be doing.
I grew up with thrash. It's interesting that the thrash genre is confusing to some younger people. Maybe it's kinda how '70s and '80s punk and new wave seem to me to encompass very different sounding bands. Or maybe it's like how alternative was kind of a catch-all in the nineties. I remember seeing both Primus and Sarah McLachlan in the alternative section in Columbia House. Genres are kinda useful and kinda silly.

Thrash? EXODUS hands down!!! Gary Holt is the single most underrated guitarist in ALL of metal… the early Holt/Hunolt riffs still crush 40 years later and the newer Holt/Altus combo is pure brutality

If we're talking single best thrash album, it's Megadeth with RIP no questions asked. Metallica and Slayer with MoP and RiB are up there as well. If we are talking consistency... Thrash tends to be very inconsistent, but Overkill I think is the most consistent thrash metal band of all time. Metallica had a perfect 5 album run. I really like Anthrax, Destruction, Sodom, Kreator, Testament, Exodus etc. but they all have 3-4 good albums max. Then there's the new school with Vektor and Havok which are amazing. Tough question. Metallica is well deserving of the title though.

I'm laughing at the amount of people that are questioning whether or not Anthrax or Slayer are thrash metal. For me, my top thrash bands are Metallica and Megadeth.
As much as I love all types of metal thrash metal is the one I always go back to all the time. Suicidal tendencies, Vio-lence,Ludichrist, nuclear assault, sacred reich, Morbid Saint, D.R.I, Rigor mortis and these are just a few bands that are just absolutely great bands to listen to. If you havent heard of em go give a listen.

I am a huge Metallica fan...and the obvious answer would be Metallica because of popularity,but I believe Slayer is the staple band that is defining thrash metal for their whole existence. Metallica went to heavy metal and progressive metal styles even on their first 4 albums. Also not to forget German giants like Sodom, Kreator and Destruction....
Powertrip pick up where the originators left it. Slayer is the one consistent. Metallica started that way Megadeth started that way, departed then returned. The best are as follows; Slayer, Megadeth, Kreator, Testament, Metallica and then Anthrax. Powertrip and Dead Heat are the next to light the torch. Shame about power trip’s singer though. R.I.P.

As much as I love all types of metal thrash metal is the one I always go back to all the time. Suicidal tendencies, Vio-lence,Ludichrist, nuclear assault, sacred reich, Morbid Saint, D.R.I, Rigor mortis and these are just a few bands that are just absolutely great bands to listen to. If you havent heard of em go give a listen.

I am a huge Metallica fan...and the obvious answer would be Metallica because of popularity,but I believe Slayer is the staple band that is defining thrash metal for their whole existence. Metallica went to heavy metal and progressive metal styles even on their first 4 albums. Also not to forget German giants like Sodom, Kreator and Destruction....
Powertrip pick up where the originators left it. Slayer is the one consistent. Metallica started that way Megadeth started that way, departed then returned. The best are as follows; Slayer, Megadeth, Kreator, Testament, Metallica and then Anthrax. Powertrip and Dead Heat are the next to light the torch. Shame about power trip’s singer though. R.I.P.
