Maybe it's kinda how '70s and '80s punk and new wave seem to me to encompass very different sounding bands. Or maybe it's like how alternative was kind of a catch-all in the nineties. I remember seeing both Primus and Sarah McLachlan in the alternative section in Columbia House. Genres are kinda useful and kinda silly.

If we're talking single best thrash album, it's Megadeth with RIP no questions asked. Metallica and Slayer with MoP and RiB are up there as well. If we are talking consistency... Thrash tends to be very inconsistent, but Overkill I think is the most consistent thrash metal band of all time. Metallica had a perfect 5 album run. I really like Anthrax, Destruction, Sodom, Kreator, Testament, Exodus etc. but they all have 3-4 good albums max. Then there's the new school with Vektor and Havok which are amazing. Tough question. Metallica is well deserving of the title though.

Gotta say mad props to Bobby Blitz and crew of Overkill cos they have been around since Metallica and Slayer.

Amazing Modern Thrash bands suggestions for you, Thrash is my favorite genre and I'm trying to spread the word about these bands:
      1) French Progressive Thrash: Arcania (not the deth metal band ACRania)
      2) Swedish Progressive Blackened Thrash: Sarcator (just released a new album)
      3) Progressive Death/Thrash: Bloodmores
      4) Belgium Blackened Thrash: Schizophrenia
      5) Australian Thrash/Progressive Metal: Meshiaak (singer/rhythm guitarist's previous band is called 4arm, check out 4arm's album Submission For Liberty)
      6) Thrash/Death/Progressive Metal: Artisan (both clean and deth vocals, very unique band).
      7) Progressive Groove/Thrash/Metalcore-ish: Byzantine
      8) Groove/Thrash: Lazarus AD
That's all I can remember for right now, but this is my list of my favorite Modern Thrash discoveries. Enjoy my friends! 🤘🤘🤙🤙

Suicidal tendencies, Vio-lence,Ludichrist, nuclear assault, sacred reich, Morbid Saint, D.R.I, Rigor mortis and these are just a few bands that are just absolutely great bands to listen to. If you havent heard of em go give a listen.

I am a huge Metallica fan...and the obvious answer would be Metallica because of popularity, but I believe Slayer is the staple band that is defining thrash metal for their whole existence. Metallica went to heavy metal and progressive metal styles even on their first 4 albums. Also not to forget German giants like Sodom, Kreator and Destruction....

  • @wormfost5578

Powertrip pick up where the originators left it. Slayer is the one consistent. Metallica started that way Megadeth started that way, departed then returned. The best are as follows; Slayer, Megadeth, Kreator, Testament, Metallica and then Anthrax. Powertrip and Dead Heat are the next to light the torch. Shame about power trip’s singer though. R.I.P.
