Sepultura is a thrash metal band that plays a bit with death metal, not enough to be considered a death metal band, but their level of aggressiveness is on another level definitely higher than Slayer in my opinion
I love that even someone who is only hearing Slayer for the second time can immediately recognize the greatness that is Dave Lombardo on drums. Not even his wildest material either! Metal drum GOAT!!!

Sepultura is one of my favourite bands of all time. Founded by the Cavalera brothers Max (vocals/guitar) and Igor (drums) in 1984 at Belo Horizonte, one amazing thing about Sepultura is the way they evolved from classic Death Metal sound in their first two records (they were pretty much teens by that time) to go onto creating an unique Thrash Metal sound in constant evolution from 'Schizophrenia' (1987) to 'Arise' (1991). In 1996 they released their most succesful album 'Roots', in which they got to mix their sound with brazilian instruments and music from the Xavante tribe in the middle of the Amazonia, creating a truly classic masterpiece and one of the most influencial albums of all time in any Metal genre. Please next time react to 'Beneath The Remains' (1989) since is my favourite of them, or if you want to listen to a more evolved sound for the band, try 'Territory' or 'Refuse/Resist' from Chaos AD (1993) and either 'Attitude' or 'Cut-Throat' from Roots (1996).
i found out about Schizophrenia in late '88, so my friends and I were ready and AMPED for Beneath the Remains when it dropped. I got to see Sepultura on their 3rd show ever, in the US (opening with Sadus for Obituary on their Slowly We Rot tour 😁😁😁)

Exodus I spent my 20's living in the SF Bay Area in the 80's. Every weekend we had so much live entertainment to choose from, being 30 minutes drive from San Francisco and Oakland, and right near San Jose. There was always top not h entertainment. This was during the birth and explosion of metal and thrash. I "grew up" (for lack of better term) watching these bands play all the time. Exodus, Death Angel, Metallica and Testament were all local and I was fortunate enough to see them all several times each. Pretty much everything I said about Sepultura applies to Exodus as well. That Sepultura (as well as Exodus) was a proper thrash. I think you would like a bit more Desperate Cry from same album (Sepultura). It was more in line with Metallica and Megadeth "slow" thrash.
Sepultura: "It's thrash metal. But also death metal." Yeah you got it. Early Sepultura sits right on the thrash/death border. Later Sepultura leans deeper into groovier rhythms that you were picking out in the song. Don't give up on them, Sepultura has some fucking legendary tracks like "Dead Embryonic Cells" and "Inner Self".

If you're looking to take baby's first steps into deathmetal, I recommend the following: 1) Ukrainian prog metal band Jinjer features an awesome female singer who can alternate between clean vocals and demon screams like flicking a switch, check out "Pisces" or "Who is gonna be the one". 2) the heavy groove metal band Gorefest also uses very deep harsh vocals, I recommend the title track from their album Soul Survivor. 3) Some of the European death bands are very orchestral and feature a mix of clean and growling vocals, check out "Black Winter Day" by Amorphis or "Dark Princess Naamah" by Therion. Whet your appetites with some of those, and then when you dive into the deep end of the really evil stuff, it won't seem so scary :P

I thought thrash would be my genre when I was in high school, but over time I've gone on to appreciate much heavier stuff and now have a Death Scream Bloody Gore tattoo! Definitely take your time with this stuff and find what really speaks to you. It's always fun watching these reactions and your heavy metal journey.
I loved this video! I'm 19 years old and I've been listening to these bands since I was 13 and for me it was wonderful to see you reacting to Arise from Sepultura, which made me think it would be wonderful to see you reacting to Ratos de Porão, another band from Brazil, but from Hardcore/Crossover genre. if you could suggest, i think re-recording Crucificados Pelo Sistema or Amazônia Nunca Mais would be a good choice, you would be shocked i think hahahahaha. Anyway, I loved the channel, I think I'll end up staying here.
It's hard to believe that these songs are 30+ years old and I was a teenager when they were released. Great times though for metal in general. Some great concerts as well, especially seeing Sepultura on the Arise tour and Slayer on The Divine Intervention tour. Finally managed to see Exodus, Testament and Death Angel a couple of years ago as well which was good as well.
Slayer's hyperfast extreme metal songs include: 'War ensemble' ... 'Angel of death' ... 'Raining blood' ... 'The Antichrist' ... 'Disciple'... 'Ghosts of war'... 'Hell awaits'🔥🔥🔥🔥 (Late guitarist) Jeff Hanneman of Slayer was very good at writing the slower, doom songs like 'Seasons in the abyss' ... 'South of heaven" Other more subtle Slayer songs - 'Gemini' ... 'Bloodline' ... '213' ... 'Mandatory suicide' ... 'Overt enemy'
The reason I like thrash is that it is so energetic and as such works best in a live situation. You can mosh, sing along, get into the pit... all the good stuff.
You went with one of the faster Sepultura songs. Like EmperorSmith said you should have tried their radiofriendly "Refuse/Resist" and go on from that. Slayer - you picked my favorite song, but it's also one of their slower ones. Exodus - well - for me you did with that their only song i like. The others - meh... Overkill are much more fun!
I think since you love Black Sabbath so much, you should explore some Doom/Stoner/Sludge Metal. It'd probably be easier for you to get into than Thrash. Bands like, Sleep, Kyuss, Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Electric Wizard, Melvins, Trouble, and Candlemass.
You liked the middle section of arise because it was groovy. Everyone is used to groovy music. The non groovy stuff will take some time to enjoy. Hopefully you will sometime in the future
I saw Sepultura live a few times (without original vocalist Max Cavalera) and seeing guitarist Andreas Kisser pull off 'Arise' by himself, including the guitar solo, was freaking 🔥🔥🔥🔥He's one of my fave guitarists in heavy metal today.
John Tempesta was also part of Exodus before leaving for Testament then on to White Zombie and Gary Holt, who filled in for Jeff Hannamen in Slayer is also a member Exodus
What a great reaction to this stuff, i love the way you get in the mood with your head and all haha That Sepultura was a little too harsh i think, the best introduction would've been Desperate Cry for sure. From that list i think you should definitely check some Overkill, best thrash metal IMO. Maybe "Feel The Fire", "Time To Kill" or "Who Tends The Fire" all amazing songs. About the Death Metal, i recommend the original bands, the classics, Cannibal Corpse for sure, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Massacre, Autopsy. But if you want a special mix of Thrash and Death you should the other brazilian classic Sarcofago, songs like Nightmare, Midnight Queen or The Laws Of Scourge. Salute you from Argentina!
You are almost ready to react to Death. One of their last albums tho, those two seem to be alot more melodic and digestable for begginers. As always nice video, can't wait for the next one!

You're actually right about the bands all being connected! In the 80's every thrash metal band around the world and their fans were actually connected through an underground tape trading / pen pal system where bands would write down their phone numbers and p.o. box addresses in their cassette tapes.
Love the love you put out their for Savatage They are a very underrated band And just kickass live Saw them open up for Great White & Winger They stole the shoats hands down

your faces are priceless... found you yesterday with the Portishead reaction, and now I'm a superfan. Am I too late? I'm a big tool fan, and yes Lateralus is one of the greatest artworks ever made. I would recommend Pantera (Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven's first 3 songs from any of those albums are just fantastic), Machine Head (The more things change), Rage Against the Machine (homonymous album), Faith No More (King For a Day, Fool for a lifetime Album), Meshuggah (Destroy Erase Improve Album), and a bonus track that is not metal, but you need to listen to if you haven't already Lingus by Snarky Puppy. Cheers from Chile!
Your energy is unmatched (this is coming from a person spending 10 years doing Kundalini meditation). While I hope the small corner of our world searching for reaction videos on YT keep receiving a portion of that energy, I mainly hope you enjoy a balanced life and experience great things.
Cheers, your face when Sepultura got going was magnificent. Funny as! Love you are trying stuff out musically. If I may, a couple of thoughts for you. Early Sepultura is more brutal. If you check out something like "Ratamahatta" where they feature tribal drums (with an actual indigenous tribe from the rain forest) , really interesting musically. Or even check out the newest album by them "Quadra" which in parts is very prog (well at least 2 of the band are big Rush fans) and it might be more up your street. As for Slayer you have listened to 2 of their more easy on the ears songs, but that is OK as if you can get used to them via that then hitting the furious should be easier for you. Also as it is just gone Xmas you should check out photos of bassist and singer Tom Araya who looks remarkably like a mad Santa Claus😂😂. He has also a very nice soft voice when speaking that can be very disarming. Loved the video, put a smile on my face on a shit day so many thanks. Have a great Hogmanay when it comes and a good new year.

VENOM are black, all the others are death metal posers
@oo EVIL GOAT oo
We all know its you Cronos,Gtfo
I bet she could dig" Where dead angels lie" If she can digest the vocals
Can't go wrong with nail bomb imagine Sepultura and Dead Kennedys as one band
Toxic Waltz is basically a comedy song for Exodus lol.
FINALLY KIRA'S NEW VIDEO!!! It's been pretty long time since last one, so happy you're back!!!
Sepultura
Arise/Chaos AD
you NEED to listen to those two albums
I second thissss
Beneath the remains is a killer album too
@@shaneweary3247 it really is, but she may not like it 'cause of how brutal and raw it is, i can be wrong tho
Completely agree Chaos AD is definitely the starting point for someone to check them out
So good to see you back in action again, you´ve been missed. Looking forward even more to another Diver video actually.😅Double whammy today with your video and M-16 Remaster in the mail. A good Tuesday so take care, stay safe and cheers from Sweden to Melbourne!
i'm about to post on diver :)
@@kirawasareactor ,really nice to hear. Will be putting the kettle on then. A Diver video, Kira back in form and a nice Darjeeling brewing. Top notch week and it´s only Tuesday.🤣
Hope all is good with you have been missing your vids, you where one of the very few authentic music reactions channels on here hope you come back soon \m/
Looking forward for that german big 4 video! 🤘
RIP. It was a good channel while it lasted.
Where did she go?
@@brianhardy612 Idk... I hope she's OK, wherever she is.
@@snuffcore9686 She open another channel. kirawasadiver
@@IanWei-p8f Well damn... thanks for letting me know. It would have been nice if she had, but it is what it is.
'Hell awaits'🔥🔥🔥🔥
(Late guitarist) Jeff Hanneman of Slayer was very good at writing the slower, doom songs like 'Seasons in the abyss' ... 'South of heaven"
Other more subtle Slayer songs - 'Gemini' ... 'Bloodline' ... '213' ... 'Mandatory suicide' ... 'Overt enemy'
The reason I like thrash is that it is so energetic and as such works best in a live situation. You can mosh, sing along, get into the pit... all the good stuff.
This is the evolution we went through in the 80s and 90s. But you always come back to the big four and sometimes the big eight.
Here for Sepultura, not disappointed :D Definitely needs to try more tracks, Dead Embryonic Cells is a must-listen.
Seeing you love Exodus makes me so happy
Love that someone did an Exodus reaction video, Toxic Waltz is the perfect place to start.
We miss Kira.
Hey what's going on..? I hope everything is fine with you!!!
I guess this is goodbye, but I thank you for the fun. Be
blessed
Yay! You have returned great video as usual. Still waiting on that Country vid tho depending on picks i think you'll enjoy it.
You liked the middle section of arise because it was groovy. Everyone is used to groovy music. The non groovy stuff will take some time to enjoy. Hopefully you will sometime in the future
Don't forget Canadian Big 4 Thrashers, Voivod, Razor, Sacrifice, and Annihilator (I think you'll especially like them)
Razor
Gary Holt riffs are fire
Hope you are well you're missed👍
I missed your videos. Happy holidays.
Still waiting for the German big 4 of thrash...
We miss you
Miss you.
Awesome video...Love the way you enjoy Toxic Waltz
I saw Sepultura live a few times (without original vocalist Max Cavalera) and seeing guitarist Andreas Kisser pull off 'Arise' by himself, including the guitar solo, was freaking 🔥🔥🔥🔥He's one of my fave guitarists in heavy metal today.
Hello I'm glad to see you it's been a minute.
John Tempesta was also part of Exodus before leaving for Testament then on to White Zombie and Gary Holt, who filled in for Jeff Hannamen in Slayer is also a member Exodus
You will like “Blacklist” by Exodus 🔥🔥
Yesssss! Exodus is AMAZING
tempo of the Damned is the album you should definitely check out
What a great reaction to this stuff, i love the way you get in the mood with your head and all haha That Sepultura was a little too harsh i think, the best introduction would've been Desperate Cry for sure.
Very cool video. I wish i could listen to these songs again for the first time.
You are almost ready to react to Death. One of their last albums tho, those two seem to be alot more melodic and digestable for begginers.
As always nice video, can't wait for the next one!
Where are you Kira??? We all miss you! Hope you are doing well!
My wish is for a Pantera video. Recommended tracks: Cemetary Gates, Floods, Mouth for War
Bruh I’m digging these paintings in the background 😂😂
I’ve just recently found you and cannot get enough of your reactions. You are fun to watch, entertaining, hilarious, and just such a blast to witness. Thank you for what you very energetically put into this for us to enjoy. You’re incredibly awesome. Thanks
That was was one hell ov a Sepultura face 😂🤣.....i thought she was gona cry at one point, i love it😅
You should've listened Dead Embryonic Cells by Sepultura; you will like that one.
That Arise reaction is awesome
You're actually right about the bands all being connected! In the 80's every thrash metal band around the world and their fans were actually connected through an underground tape trading / pen pal system where bands would write down their phone numbers and p.o. box addresses in their cassette tapes.
Love the love you put out their for Savatage
They are a very underrated band
And just kickass live
Saw them open up for Great White & Winger
They stole the shoats hands down
Man, she mentions Death Metal and now I want to see her listen to Obituary - Infected...
You are so funny 😂 please check Pantera- Cemetery Gates, the vocals are incredible and the solo Is one of the most beautiful metal solo ever!
Happy New year from Italy 👋🇮🇹
You have to absolutely watch the promo shot of Sepultura live in Barcelona. It’s one of the best gigs recorded
If you read this, I know you've said that your favorite thrash song so far had been The Four Horsemen by metallica, you should also check out Mechanix by Megadeth (Dave's version of the song)
I would seriously listen to Slayer and Venom together because Slayer was heavily influenced by Venom
This wheel concept is so cool !
What happened with Kira, does anyone know ? ... I miss her ...
She has videos on her other Channel kirawasadiver
@@megagerald777 Thank you man, I didn´t know about the other channel I like her very much, when I see and listen to her my depression goes away.
♥️ I'm a brand new subscriber watching from London UK 🇬🇧
your faces are priceless... found you yesterday with the Portishead reaction, and now I'm a superfan.
What happened?
From the wheel i really wanted to see you reaction to Pantera
Hollow is a good one, floods (my favorite song), or something like a new level
Watching you listen to Sepultura was classic.👍👍👍👍
First person I've seen react to Toxic Waltz. Love that song/album. Thanks!
sepultura is unique!
each album is unique!
after arise they changed their sound so much!
try songs from their next albums
