One classic, but often underrated punk band is "X" - the american band, not the australian (their are two). They actually brought their first album after 30 years or so, called Alphabetland out last year - and the eponymous song Alphabetland is one of their best in my mind, next to their most famous one called "Los Angeles". "I'm Lost" is also pretty good. You should definetly check them out!
I wouldn't call them underrated. I mean, they were one of the main features of the most popular documentaries of all time, The Decline of Western Civilization. But yeah, X is an amazing band!
I'm 53. She's just like myself back in the late 70s discovering punk. It totally saved my life. Watching this, I feel like there is still hope for mankind.
Some suggestions from my side: X-Ray Spex "Identity" or "Oh Bondage! Up yours!" There are only two posibilities, you love Polys voice or you hate it. Sham 69 "Hersham Boys" If you like to party Toy Dolls "I've got asthma" If you want to party on Sex Pistols "Anarchy in the UK"
I gotta say, I just loved watching you lit up when you heard The Damned for the first time. It was pretty much the reaction of a generation of kids back in mid seventies. The OG; WTF face. Made my day. Thank you for that. I wrote initially this big text full of suggestions for your next punk listen but I see you've already released a Part 2 so I'm gonna watch that and see what comments I can make then. Again, loved watching your face light up hearing these great recordings. Cheers.
@@kirawasareactor The "horror" genre of has a lot of sub-sections. The Cramps were one of the first, but that thread leads down the Psychobilly path to bands like Nekromantix, Horror Pops, Demented are Go, The Meteors, Reverend Horton Heat and so on.

For Proto- punk I recommend MC5 - Kick Out the Jams or Ramblin' Rose! From the 70's, Patti Smith is one of the greatest! Because the Night, Gloria, Free Money From 80's/90's you should listen to Misfits: Dig Up her Bones, Helena, Dy Dy My Darling
Follow up video: Dead Kennedys "Chemical Warfare" or "Stealing People's Mail" The Misfits "Bullet" or "Last Caress" (very NSFW) The Bouncing Souls "Kate is Great" and "Manthem"
I couldn't love this more! Some of my favorite bands. You could also check out X-Ray Spex - Identity a classic English punk group with an amazing female singer. Love Poly Styrene so much! Great video as always.
The Clash definitely had a huge influence on the whole post-punk 80s bands (who in turn influenced a lot of the 00s UK bands like Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys etc). It'd be great if you could check out The Jam at some point too. They were fronted by guitarist/vocalist Paul Weller, who was a massive influence on the Gallagher brothers from Oasis, and even featured on the Oasis song Champagne Supernova (for a more punky song by them, check out In The City.....for one of their more well known songs, Town Called Malice). Great reaction though :)
Black Flag later brought in lead singer Henry Rollins, who's gone on to solo success in music and as sort of a spoken-word storyteller/stand up and author. Songs like Rise Above, Six Pack, TV Party, and My War, all classics. Also, definitely Misfits. Any of their songs.
Your comment about wishing The Damned song was a bit louder, I remembered on the record label it actually says, "made to be played loud at low volume." 😂👍 Also, another great English punk band from that era that hardly gets mentioned is 999. "Homicide" is probably their most well known song.
Cool! How fun to see someone experience great music for the first time. There is SO MUCH out there, so many genres, bands, eras and ALBUMS. I envy your journey. Enjoy.
I'm sad I never see the Plasmatics mentioned. I know Wendy went metal solo, but some of the early Plasmatics is nuts. I hope they get mentioned a bit more.
Once again freaking adorable! So much fun watching you hearing this stuff for the first time. So much good punk. Looking forward to your punk journey. I suggest The Buzzcocks - Ever fallen in love.
@@kirawasareactor Thankyou! There is just so many flavors of punk to choose from. While not punk but The Specials were an incredible UK Ska band from the late 70s early 80s that kinda goes hand in hand with punk. One of my most favorite punk bands is a hybrid of punk and ska called Operation Ivy.
Kudos to you for checking out the underground punk movement of the 70s. It's such great music! I do have a public punk playlist on my channel if you're curious for more. I love The Damned and some of my faves of theirs is: "Wait for the Blackout" "Thanks for the Night" and "Disco Man." I could probably go on but you'd just get a list of all their songs. Lol! Great thoughtful reactions!
As an old L.A. punk, I saw Black Flag a lot back in the day and you can not beat that energy/angst of Hardcore So Cal punk. Check out some of my favorite bands I loved seeing back then like: The Dickies, Circle Jerks and Dead Kennedys. Saw all these bands many times, always great.
The Damned were in the studio next to, The Sex Pistols, The Clash and them. They got their album out first and are still together today. Long live the Damned!
Joe Strummed (the Clash) has one of the most unique voices. His last album was in the early 2003 with his band "Joe Strummer and the Mesaleros". The album is titled "Coma Girl" which is also the best track off of the lp.
The Damned actually also had a huge influence on the gothic rock movement since the lead singer Dave Vanian often impersonated a vampire on stage in their early days and some of their songs were also proto-goth. I really love them and recommend "I Just Can't Be Happy Today" and "Smash It Up" (it's a two-part song and you need to do both parts), both from their second album "Machine Gun Etiquette". And considering The Clash: you're right, they are probably one of the most influential bands of all-time and definitely the most influential punk band especially on alternative rock bands all through the 80s up to now. Their frontman Joe Strummer is a true icon, up there with John Lennon or Bob Marley. He was a very wise and intelligent guy and there are quotes of him all over modern pop culture. You really should do an album reaction on the whole "London Calling" album. It is truly one of the true masterpieces in music and one of the best albums of all time. Like rock 'n' roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis used to say: all killer, no filler ! I'm sure you will love it. And post-punk should be logical to be your next genre to try out after discovering punk. There is so much to learn there as well, especially when I see that you're into bands like Interpol. Bands like Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure (in their early days), The Smiths and many others are the founding fathers (and mothers) for many sounds today and bands like Interpol, The Killers, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Editors, TV on the Radio, Arcade Fire and so many more are hugely influenced by the post-punk movement (which derived from punk and was also the forerunner of what later became gothic rock).
Kira - "The vocal delivery of London Calling was probably my favourite across the five songs I have listened to" So great to see a young person appreciate the late, great Joe Strummer. And Kira, live the Clash were AMAZING!!!
I love all these bands, but after finally seeing the Damned live for the first time in the US last night, and they're still going strong after 40 years!- I'm GenX and grew up on all these bands, and in most cases I love what they were-a good memory. The Damned are the band that stood the test of time! They evolved while sticking to their roots and keep putting on engaging, energizing shows! And they are so underrated-really amazing as musicians and performers. Thanks for recognizing- that was the show of a lifetime- the crowd was going wild dancing and moshing-young people and people their parent's age alike.
Some absolute classics! The Adicts - “I am yours” Subhumans - “Subvert City” Fugazi - “Waiting room” Buzzcocks - “Ever fallen in love” Sex Pistols - “ God save the Queen” Descendents - “Myage” Dead Kennedys - “Kill the Poor” Misfits - “Last Caress” Agent Orange - “Bloodstains” MC5 - “Kick out the Jams” Fear - “I don’t care about you” If you’re feeling brave, you can also check out GG Allin, but this serves as a warning.

London Calling (entire album) is an absolute masterpiece...their first album was much rawer but very influential to budding garage bands. when the ramones and clash first albums came out they turned the music industry on its head. suddenly we could do anything...

@Stephen Greenhorn Johnny thunders heartbreakers rock'n'roll staple. Thunders was the shit. Sad that they are all gone now. Didn't think waldo would have left so soon. And sylvain Sad times
X managed to cover an amazing amount of ground while staying true to their punk roots.
Billy Zoom was an amazing guitar player.
I wouldn't call them underrated. I mean, they were one of the main features of the most popular documentaries of all time, The Decline of Western Civilization. But yeah, X is an amazing band!
You really need to listen to the Australian band X aspirations Album
I'm 53. She's just like myself back in the late 70s discovering punk. It totally saved my life. Watching this, I feel like there is still hope for mankind.
Some suggestions from my side:
X-Ray Spex "Identity" or "Oh Bondage! Up yours!" There are only two posibilities, you love Polys voice or you hate it.
Sham 69 "Hersham Boys" If you like to party
Toy Dolls "I've got asthma" If you want to party on
Sex Pistols "Anarchy in the UK"
X-Ray Spex debut is a solid punk classic, and they we’re Lydon’s favourite punk band, he didn’t really like the others.
I love Poly styrene! :)
@@punkoid76 I always read the only Punk bands he liked were The Adverts & Buzzcocks.
Sham 69 Borstal Breakout is better than Hersham Boys.
@@kabardinka1 If the kids are united was their best song.
I'm glad that the younger generations still embrace all types and eras of music. I was the same way and I still listen to new artists also.
Cheers.
Your reaction is so wholesome!
The Damned is definitely on my top list and I would definitely recommend "machine gun etiquette" and "melody lee"
Kira, all of these bands are worth a deeper dive.
The Misfits with Danzig on vocals is my favourite punk band with amazing horror lyrics
oh yes Misfits, would love to include them in a future video!

"Oh this is fun!" Yeah, Ramones always had a sense of humor and had some really fun lyrics. Their 4 first albums are all awesome

If you want a longer punk/new wave song, Johnny Was by Stiff Little Fingers is over 8 minutes long, and worth every second of it.
The Damned changed my life. Remember they are still together and rocking!

How do you go from those bands to bouncing souls? Lol
I have been a punk rock fan since 1978 - I highly recommend "X-Ray Spex , Oh Bondage Up Yours"!
Great reaction. Love that you love The Damned.
You now can enjoy the song R.A.M.O.M.E.S by the great Motorhead and kill two birds with one tune. Luv 2 ya Kira.
I couldn't love this more! Some of my favorite bands. You could also check out X-Ray Spex - Identity a classic English punk group with an amazing female singer. Love Poly Styrene so much! Great video as always.
Yes! X-ray Spex!
Definitely, probably the best punk band after the Pistols and the Ramones
Was fun watching you enjoying these songs from my youth.
Punk Rules!
I remember the first time I listened to the Ramones and I fell in love with the band instantly. You should listen to Misfits too
The Clash definitely had a huge influence on the whole post-punk 80s bands (who in turn influenced a lot of the 00s UK bands like Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys etc).
It warms my heart to see someone discover The Clash and love them as much as I do
Yes! Punk is short in minutes with an abundance of energy!.... listen to the rest of that Damned Album, they are one of the best Punk ever!!!!!
Your comment about wishing The Damned song was a bit louder, I remembered on the record label it actually says, "made to be played loud at low volume." 😂👍
Also, another great English punk band from that era that hardly gets mentioned is 999. "Homicide" is probably their most well known song.
999! Had that cassette in high school!
Lemmy played with the Dammed...as the Doomed..he considered them true punks
Cool! How fun to see someone experience great music for the first time. There is SO MUCH out there, so many genres, bands, eras and ALBUMS. I envy your journey. Enjoy.
I found myself forty years ago experiencing big surprises with punk music. Thank you.
I'm sad I never see the Plasmatics mentioned. I know Wendy went metal solo, but some of the early Plasmatics is nuts. I hope they get mentioned a bit more.
You missed bad brains and the misfits D: definitely HUGE staples in punk
Is it just me or is Kira the cutest thing about RUclips? Ugh, that accent is delightful.
"7-11" and "today your love, tomorrow the world"... What a bangers from Ramones
Once again freaking adorable! So much fun watching you hearing this stuff for the first time. So much good punk. Looking forward to your punk journey. I suggest The Buzzcocks - Ever fallen in love.
thank you! I have already listened to Ever Fallen in Love. it is one of my favourite songs ever, you have great taste :)
My favorite 'Cocks song is Paradise on Different Kind of Tension. That Pete Shelley is a real romantic. The odd band out in that respect.
@@kirawasareactor That's punk for you! Let's have a contest Which is the best? with Rap and Punk being the two contestants

The Damned still tour and rock out hard to this day.
I had the biggest goddamn smile on my face this while video. Welcome to our world ;)
The Clash is one of the great bands, period, regardless of genre.
If you loved that Stooges song, you GOTTA react to their second album "Fun House."
Yeah, that's a banger! Hope she's ready for it.
Good suggestions The Dickies are one of the tightest bands I've ever seen. Awesome!
Check out his live performance of Johnny Appleseed on Letterman. Incredible.
Dave Vanian hasn't stopped impersonating a vampire!
Kira - "The vocal delivery of London Calling was probably my favourite across the five songs I have listened to"
So great to see a young person appreciate the late, great Joe Strummer.
The Adicts - “I am yours”
Subhumans - “Subvert City”
Fugazi - “Waiting room”
Buzzcocks - “Ever fallen in love”
Sex Pistols - “ God save the Queen”
Descendents - “Myage”
Dead Kennedys - “Kill the Poor”
Misfits - “Last Caress”
Agent Orange - “Bloodstains”
MC5 - “Kick out the Jams”
Fear - “I don’t care about you”
