The Mint looks so good with their creative color schemes, 9 gears, and disc brakes. But there also seem to be several drawbacks, such as having to be in high gear when closing, the fact that the rear and front tire are too close to each other when the rear i folded, and that the front brake cable isn't properly secured to the frame. It's a shame because other than that, the Mint trifold is a crazy attractive bike.
Week8 although is cheap by abt $100++ the two locking screws mechanism at the handlebar stem and the other at the main body are difficult to get spare parts for as per my by understanding. And those are the parts that are frequently used when folding/unfolding the bike. Unlike Mint/3Sixty/Sunrimoon and other Brompton clones including Brompton itself the locking mechanism is interchangeable and easy to get with many colours/designs in the market. Something, the buyers should take note of when purchasing these bikes. The Week8 mechanisms is a single screw whereas, the rest have a clamp+screw. Layman may not notice because design looks very similar but when problem arises with locking/unlocking mechanism that's when the bike will become unsafe/useless and worthless if can't get the spare parts. Especially, the locking mechanism.
Weekeight locking hinges can be harder to engage because they are spring loaded and you will have to compress the spring to engage the nut inside the hinge. It's a cut corner design which is weaker than the Brompton lock and will take longer to engage.
Hello., Recently I got a Mint. I didn't realised that in order to close properly it has to be in high gear otherwise the fork keep getting damaged by the derailleur, so now my fork has plenty of scratches. Did anyone had the same problem ? About Week8, isn't it the same as LitePro ? Cheers
@@adayinmylifeinsingapore Thank you for your reply, I wanted to have a second opinion, since I got mine delivered to a place where there is no Mint Shop or service and I was wondering if there was a mistake or problem with if, If I can send you a video or pic to your email, I wonder if you could have a look, 多谢
Oh.. maybe you could join mint cycling group.. I am not a bicycle expert so I may not be knowledgeable on that. I joined Facebook mint cycling group singapore and saw a lot of people sharing issues on their bicycle and a lot are giving helpful suggestions/comments. You might want to give it a try
I'm only new to cycling and not very familiar with bicycle parts but I prefer the mint trifold because of the external gear and the upgradability. Also depends on the colours you like 🥰
When Turning full right, cable touches the wheel.. but normally you wouldn't really turn right that far (let's say around 45degrees) 😬... lol I'm not good at explaining hahaha
@@adayinmylifeinsingapore I just confirmed in other videos that your cable is not secured to the left fork. there is a hook where you can use a cable tie or velcro to secure the brake cable.
@@jchen174 oops my bad, hubby told me he did fix it already with a cable tie 🤣 after this video was recorded. I didn't know.. I just use and park at home 🤪
So far OK for me.. I'm not a frequent rider.. usually go cycling for leisure so maybe it differs depending on how frequent and how long your rides are..
😊 if have budget just go buy the real B!!! Poor me.. couldn't afford it so this bicycle works for me as of the moment.. I just needed something with smaller footprint when parked coz of limited space

Any issues with the front brake cable? from the video it seems like it might contact the wheel at certain angles

Does mint bike sturdy? Does flex when riding?

It had a hight handle pole very suitable for 18.7 tall guy like me.the gear of 9 very good for climbing slope overall very value and cheap.
Finally, which one did you buy?
Mint trifold ☺️
