    Just an update on the 3sixty i own. I have been riding it back home from work almost every day except weekends, which is about 21km. No problem at all. Highly recommend you to upgrade the bottom bracket and the crankset to something lighter plus a bigger size pedal. A big pedal makes the riding experience much more pleasant.

    This is the first video of yours that I've watched. I admire your honesty about not being able to afford a Brompton - so much more refreshing than the aggressive "why would I spend so much of my hard earned money on a Brompton?!" style. 🙂 I love the rollers on this machine - that looks like technical one area that scores points over Brompton's bicycle. I'll certainly be looking into these Paikes bikes now. Thanks 👍🏼

      i would not spend that much on a tiny little bike. people are smarter nowadays knowing that a lot of things are way overpriced and stopped brand worshiping. it's pretty much a status symbol of bikes for older people and status symbol is cringe

    I got my 3 speed 3sixty from taobao. It's cheap but the parts are also cheap except the body. I upgraded the BB, crankset, pedals, handlebar covers, shifters, shock absorber, rear derailleur and also changed the straight bar to the M bar. Note that the rear derailleur by litepro need abit of filing to fit to the 3sixty. Then the bike is perfect. I have owned road bike, mountain bike and now this foldie is perfect for portability and it run fast too!

    To be honest, any comparison with a Brompton can only be objectively made if you've owned and ridden both a genuine and clone for some time. Otherwise, the main basis for comparison is almost always going to center around retail price, and Bromptons are hand-made in England which accounts for their higher cost. Enjoy your bike, I have the same front carrier block bag 😊

    • @fredphua
      @fredphua  3 года назад +6

      Thank you for your comment. I especially appreciate your thoughts on objectivity.
      Though this video is not a 1:1 comparison but rather centered around the introduction of my new bike and sharing my own thought process to distill the choices in the market, I'd still think any attempts by anyone (even with the best intentions) to make a 1:1 comparisons will still be open to subjectivity to varying extents because it will encapsulate one's opinions when drawing comparisons.
      The country of manufacture may explain the higher cost structure/price point in products, but at least in my opinion for this case, may not explain how it should naturally translate to superior quality that will Correspond/Align/Match the market premiums. I am not disagreeing with the superior quality (I love the build on the B!), but the question I struggled with is on the alignment i.e is it really that much better to justify 2-3x the price?
      I guess it all boils down to how much one is willing to pay for craftsmanship at the point of purchase which is subjective in itself. Objectivity - really quite an ideal. :) Thank you for getting me thinking, I love these conversations with my viewers, hope you don't find them boring.
      Enjoy your ride too (maybe together some day!), let's chat more on other subjects as they come. Have a great weekend. :)

    Thank you Fred.. What you said in the first sentence was very important, since that is me. Brompton is out of my budget but I am considering others. Maybe you have something to share with me. In fact, I had in mind. Pikes 9, 3Sixty and Mint with 9 gears. (there are others, but too many to mention) in fact, you helped me with T or M handle bard question, I didn't know what to choose. (in Taobao you have the option to select that)
    1) Apart from that, the back wheel in the rack, are very different from Brompton, and the Brompton Rack is longer, any difference?
    2) The front cassette has no protection, like Pikes. Pikes of the frame it is a little bigger, right?
    3) Have you tried it in a rough areas? I would like to add semi-rough tires if you think that is a good suggestion
    4) Pikes offers 9 gears and MINT too, but not 3Sixty. I suppose that you are happy with it
    5) Not important, but I saw that you recently recorded that, ruclips.net/video/hb15y6uglE0/видео.html didnt you miss the mud-guard in that one?
    anyway, thank you for answering if possible.

      @fredphua  2 года назад

      Hey Peter, thanks for the questions and I'll try my best to offer my views on them. I didn't really take a close look at the rack and mudguard but I guess as long as they are functional, it'll be good enough for most users and any difference should (in my view) not play a big role in ride quality. I've had mine removed from my new Avro bike for a sportier look 😁. I've ridden them over rough areas like gravel paths, but not for long. Not deliberately, but usually because they are part of the route I take. During the short distance, no major issues. Yes, i am super happy with my Avro with extermal gears for reasons described in my other video but thats just me. Many would prefer internal hub set ups, so really up to individuals. Hope this helps in your bike hunt!

    • @fredphua

      Hey Megan, thank you for leaving your questions. If I am not mistaken, Y-Bar has a slight raise as compared to the straight S-Bar, but the bar is of a lower profile as compared to an M. Assuming the stem length is the same for both M & Y, it will mean Y-Bar will be slightly lower for the user to grip. No good and bad there, all depends on the person's body geometry and preference. You can check out another video I've made on my attempt to fit myself on the bike, maybe that'll help explain the "bar height" factor better. Hope it helps! :)

      Thanks for your comment. Tough one trying to quantify with data in my upcoming video, so it's going to be very opinion based. :D Anyway, I had the Kojak and didn't like it in the wet. One looks very similar to the Kojak but with rotational thread (maybe improved grip in wet?) and being thicker, so it's something I'd like to try in future. I prefer to have something that's more all-weather without being too heavy (impact rotational mass), therefore the racer. I don't think the rolling resistance between the 2 is too far off too, given that the racer can pump up to a higher PSI to offset the higher rolling resistance by the threads a little. Anyway, probably won't feel much difference in the real world but with added grip in wet? ;)

    Interesting video. I'm curious how the gears are spaced. I have a 6-speed Brompton and find the the jumps between the 3 pairs of gears (so from 1+ to 2- and 2+ to 3-) quite large. Are these more equally spaced on the 3sixty?

    • @fredphua
      @fredphua  3 года назад

      Haven't done my research on the exact jumps. But they are using the S-RF3 hubs, so theoretically the jump gaps should be about 20-30+% between each if memory serves me right? Just basing on riding experience alone without the math, I'd say the jumps are quite high. I'd get complacent on an uphill sometimes and overshift, before long... my whistling stops and I start to struggle a little. hahaha

    09:37 - Is it actually possible to exchange the handlebar with one that has different dimensions, on the 3-sixty? With Brompton this is not possible, because each height has all the parts involved in the folding process positioned specifically. (Or is there a multiposition handlebar that matches the specs, or maybe custom Ergon grips?).
    Btw 13:16, yeah you should definitely get a longer seatpost, if you cycle regularly and want to keep your knees healthy.

    • @fredphua

      To the first question, I actually do not know for sure. But there are handlebars available in the market that raises the height a little (2-3cm?), which seem to work (I won't say it will work until I've tried it myself). I too am worry about the the potential of it rubbing against the floor after I switch it out, but I've done some preliminary measurements and it appears fine. I hope it'll turn out ok, my handlebar got cancelled cause of shipping issues. Will keep everyone posted when the parts arrive and I switch it out! :)

      @vanderslagmulders It is possible. Just make sure the handlebar has the same diameter (at the handlebar bolt), otherwise it would not fit your stem. The length of the handlebar can be cut with a copper pipe cutter to your desired length. Note that if you change to a higher/lower handlebar you would also need to change the cables, as the folding would otherwise be affected by the (too short/long) cables.

    Brompton is over priced, the frame design is the only good thing about it, that is why i also got a "clone" as i can upgrade nearly everything on it and it will be cheaper then a brompton and have a better ride quality. My friend has two bromptons one with titanium and they all pretty much ride the same only thing is weight.
    I think the clones weigh slightly less then a Brompton

    Great to see your sharing. We (hubby & me) have been considering buying our 2 foldies that can serve our casual scenic rides & still debating which Brand to commit - Brompton, Birdy or Dahon
    We don’t want to pay the high prices & later our bikes become white elephants. I’m more concerned about the weight but not my hubby.
    We’re not in any rush as we currently have a btwin & a Raleigh which my hubby alternates to ride to the gym.
    Just wondering if this 3 sixty has a lighter foldable. Thanks

    • @fredphua
      @fredphua  3 года назад

      Thanks for the comment Sherlin. Indeed, I had the same concern of my foldable bike becoming a white elephant (happened to be twice already! :D ) after dropping a huge sum of money on it. I think I'm quite happy with the utility of this vs the price I paid, happy so far. To your question on lighter versions, I've seen other people put on a bunch of titanium stuff on it (Fork, rear triangle, carbon wheels) on their 3sixty to bring the weight down but I'm not familiar with ride quality etc since I haven't ridden one. Happy hunting!

    Hi. Have you tried taken out the white sticker on the side of the stem facing you? There is a local review that claimed that there was a definite parallelogram shape black base after he peeled of the rectangular shape "before you ride" sticker at the area mentioned. I believe the bike's colour is camelion blue. Any comments on that? Anyone tried and experience the same?

    • @fredphua
      @fredphua  3 года назад

      Thanks for dropping by David. Sorry, didn't get the black base part of the question but I removed the sticker before applying some paint protection film on it (you can check out the "knick knack series" video). Hope it helps!

    Is it made out of steel? I’d be worried about the Brompton design in aluminum since aluminum can’t support the single bar designs like that very well.

    thanks a lot for sharing. I heard that brompton does not or fully compatible with 3rd party accessories or any after-market non brompton spares. Does 3sixty have this issue?
    I do not undermine your statement, brompton is really over-priced which i think the price tagged on is the brand and the expired patent. I feel that is not about the affordability, but rather is the overall experience and feel. If the riding experience is identical to brompton, why pay more? these days is really about practicability > Brands

    • @fredphua
      @fredphua  3 года назад

      Hey Levon, appreciate your comment. I do not know which accessories specifically you're referring to, but so far I've gotten a bunch of them that is fine. I do know that the parts are not always interchangeable amongst the brands, so maybe do some research first before buying will be good. So far works fine for me. Hope this helps!
      As for my statement on why I didn't choose the B, well it's really only my own opinion. There will always be different lenses to this, but ultimately I say let's just enjoy whatever rides we have. 😁😁

    I’m 180cm n I tried sitting on the 360 I felt that the handle bar is too near. If for long distance ride, I’m afraid it might be too tiring to be keeping myself sitting upright n hands controlled for the short body length of the 360. Don’t u feel so?
