I just got the Anthologion Prayer Book and the EOB Zipper Version NT. Love it.. I def like to pray from the Anthologion then my other prayer books. Matins is very long, still adjusting to complete the groupings each day as explained in the beginning of the book. Thanks for the informational video brother. God Bless.
the big volume i bought a Hardback from LuLu online and i like the job they did binding it. And the page paper is very good. i don't have a softcover to compare it to.
I LOVE THAT EOB translation. Do you know if someone is planning the entire Bible translated like this. I have this Gospel Book and the Epistles and will get the Prophetarion from Legacy Icons when it comes out, but sure would love to see a complete EOB Bible. The NKJV version in the Orthodox Study Bible is not so great, in my opinion. Thank you!
Shawn Hampton, Saint Ignatius Press that made The Holy Gospel book reviewed in this video also have The Acts of the Apostles which includes the Epistles and Revelation, they also have what seems to be the entire Old Testament available for pre order, shipping this November, $25 - $35 for each
Thanks, great video. I’m in the UK, which generally makes getting these books more difficult in my experience, the Gospel book being an example. Would you know of anywhere to get the annual sequence of Gospel readings, which you showed towards the end of the book, as a pdf or ebook? I’m fortunate enough to have the original EOB New Testament itself as an ebook and as a physical book, but it doesn’t have that sequence in it. Also, would you know if it’s possible to get some of the better prayer books, like the New Rome prayer book, as an ebook or pdf? Thanks again, excellent channel!
Off the top of my head I know the lectionary is pretty widely available online. As to whether or not you can get PDF's or e-books of certain prayer books, I'll have to look into it.
I disagree with the statement that the paperback version is a good "knock around" suggesting durability in spite of it's being a glued binding. I purchased that version in Dec 2015, used it maybe 10 hours and shelved it for a resource book only. I took it down today for the first time since then, turned to the appendices to check something, and the spine broke, top to bottom, about a half inch from the back cover page. The glued binding has become brittle. If I open it in other places I'm afraid the same will happen. I would not recommend this version. I am also checking out the Orthodox Study Bible but too is a glued binding. I won't buy it. It appears that the Orthodox Study Bible (Ancient Faith Edition) has a sown binding but it would cost almost 50 bucks on Amazon. Not sure what to do.
@@OrthodoxReview Here is a follow up on the RUclips review that said the OSB is NOT a sewn binding ... at least in his 2008 edition. He also includes a link to Christian Book .com that also specifies that it is NOT a sewn binding. Could it be that you are referring to a later edition? If so, what is the isbn # of the hardback edition? "My copy is definitely glued, not sewn. But it was printed in 2008. While it's possible that the editions available today are sewn, Christian Book Distributors also sells the OSB, and they say their copies have glued bindings (www.christianbook.com/the-orthodox-study-bible-hardcover-edition/9780718003593/pd/003590?product_redirect=1&search_term=orth&Ntt=003590&item_code=WW&ps_exit=PRODUCT&Ntk=keywords&event=ESRCP ). @5:20 I love this EOB Gospels book.
I'm using its lectionary(?) for Lent 2023,
and I appreciate the many schedules and other info therein!

A good book to have in your library.
Thank you 🙏
Sold! I've been wanting that first volume you reviewed for a while now...
Link's in the description, go for it!!!
Excellent video. I'm thinking about buying the first one. I've been using the Orthodox Study Bible from Thomas Nelson.
I also have the Thomas Nelson, and it's great for notes and resources, but I think this translation is superior.

It's actually just the OT readings for lent.
Just got mine in today and I'm wondering is there anywhere to get vol 1 and 2
What is your opinion of the Orthodox Study Bible ?
I like it
Where is the free download
Raphael, have you done a comparison video on the various "Holy Gospel" books?
I wish I had that kind of money.
what's up buddy? Where do I find the Greek New Testament of the Orthodox Churches in Greek from 1904?
Google?
I'll dig around
Amigo boa noite... tudo bem? Onde encontro só com texto grego...

Would you consider this translation better than the one in the Orthodox Study Bible?
The OSB is NKJV, which has been around for quite some time and is a venerable translation. They both have their strengths.

There are a few apps with the prayers, and Amazon kindle has a free version of the previous St Tikhons prayer book.
Legacy icons only charges $13 for shipping to UK & EU, worth it imo! God bless
Is the Amazon link in the description an affiliate link? I would like to be able to support you...
Unfortunately, no. But we do have Patreon and PayPal, if you're looking to support our work.
Is it true that the Bible is never bound in the skin of dead animals in the Orthodox Church (like leather or vellum)?
Not that I'm aware of
Is that translation originally from 1910 ?
No, it's a fairly recent translation.

The Study Bible is sewn if you get the hard cover or leathersoft edition.

Of all the copies I own, only the paperback new testament is glued, which is a bummer.
I would reccomend buying through another seller. Ancient Faith, one of the many monasteries, SVS, 8th Day Books, etc...
@@OrthodoxReview I have just talked with the publisher, Thomas Nelson. It is a glued binding.
