I have the Little Red first edition and the “Orthodox Christian Prayers” book by STM Press. Love them both and may have to pick up an additional one. Thanks for the review!
I wont lie to you, I absolutely can not stand the new rome press prayer book. It doesnt have the occasional prayers that I in my personal life would need, and my biggest gripe with it is that it doesn't have the evening prayers that youd expect. It just didnt work for me, and I sold it soon after getting it. The little red in my eyes was my favorite one. Thin, light, has a wealth of great occasional prayers, loved it. I wish I did not lose it.
Hello friend, how are you? I hope the best for you. I don't remember which video you showcased your Orthodox icons, but I thank you. Because your video encouraged me to purchase a Greek Orthodox Theotokos and baby Iesus icon. I love icons! Thank you again!
Hello, I have been searching for some time for orthodox prayers, however, for a wider verity of new and different prayers, since I have a hard time re-reading the same prayers over and over.. I wondered if anyone could help me find a bigger, wider verity of many different prayers (that does not include psalms) .. it would be much appreciated So basically if there are English orthodox prayers, which are not the usual service of prayers.. i would very much appreciate knowing where to find them, thank you
That's a fantastic question! I can't recommend any single prayer book at the moment, but I can't say that there are various different prayers found across the broader spectrum of prayer books available. There is one book of prayers published by Saint George monastery that is available on Amazon with all sorts of interesting prayers, but it is poorly edited and organized, and cannot recommend it unless you're willing to put in a lot of time to make sense of it.
I use the paper red one! I need a recommendation for being able to pray the hours etc for each day with as few separate books as possible? Would that be the Anthologion?
Hey, man! Great channel. I just found you. I'm a protestant very interested in the EOC but without a body nearby to join & stuff. What's your view on use of these books by the Heterodox? (I know, it's just an opinion but I'm curious.) Thanks for the great info!
The new little red is a bit of a misfire, in my view. In my family, we all use copies of the old one, and they should have just continued printing it. The new one has some additional prayers, which is nice, but has some problems also: 1) If it was to be a continuation and replacement of the old one, they should not have modified the words of the prayers common to both. Now it departs from our liturgical use. 2) The cover is cheaper and cheap-looking. The quality in general feels much worse. 3) It is no longer handy on account of the increased size. Bring back the old (please)!
so... listening to your audio it seems the codec is giving your artifacts. Like the sound of a low grade mp3. I've had issues with MP4 causing audio issues where .MOV (Quicktime) I can choose to do a better quality audio where it doesn't have digital artifacting. Are you using a phone to record the video?
You should be able to get descent sound out of your microphone. This guy does a good job reviewing the microphone: ruclips.net/video/30jJgzNuMoU/видео.html
Also in the video you are too far away from the microphone. You need to be like 1 ft or under ideally. Being close to the microphone will increase what is called the proximity effect when you use the cardiod pickup pattern (which is the one you should use) which will give you more of a broadcast bassy sound.
You microphone is actually a better microphone than the one I use in most of my videos. I just use a cheap $40 shotgun microphone because it is convenient and I don't need an external recorder. Most of my "better" sound with the microphone I use comes from using plugins post recording. I can help you with getting some free plugins and get you some software that won't cost anything if you are interested.
Also besides the codec for the video, the digital artifacts can be created by noise reduction. I use Clarity Vx by waves, which is fantastic for what I need and only costs $30. www.waves.com/plugins/clarity-vx#clarity-vx-vocal-noise-reduction
I'm learning a lot about what prayer even is because of your videos. Thank you.
Note: The Jordanville Prayer Book & Psalms is now $11.95
Once we get the icon shop back up and running maybe you can do a review of our icons? 🥰🙏🏻
Sure!
Thank you. I will definitely get little red. I was looking for something to take to church that had the Divine Liturgy words, since we are new.
Thank you very much for this. As a convert, I am always learning. Sometimes I feel a bit lost. Your videos help a lot.
Glory to God! Glad I could help!

Understandable. That book is actually a cell rule from Nea Skiti on Mt Athos.
I like little red I think it's the most handy travel addition for most situations
Awesome video as always!! May God bless you always!!
i really like the new pocket prayer book from SIOP. it actually can fit in my pocket or my lunchbox when i go to work and read it during my breaks.

Everyone's gotta start somewhere.
Have you found a church to join yet? Have you emailed your closest EO church?
Where can one purchase a little cloth bag from? I'd use one for the Jordanville Prayer Book and Psalms.
Mine came from Fr John Valdez at Death to the World

Does “little red” have prayers to patron saint and guardian angel?
Yea
