      Slight hiccup at the mo - torn a ligament in my knee, with a brace sure I will be back in the car in a few days, then it's the wait for a spot of keyhole to fix it 😬

      It has surprised me how well its made - the dash is hard plastic and the odd rough edge here and there, but it does not feel like it's going to fall to bits any time soon.

  • @pdtech4524

    Looks like it can take a good off road bashing underneath.
    I think the skid plate under the engine is prone to rust, so a coat of hammerite to protect it, would be a good idea.

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 года назад +1

      If only we had a decent sized oven, I would powder coat it - I am still looking to get a sid plate that gives some protection, like the PanDakar car - struggling to find it, so the old paintbrush will be out :)

      @@DrivenMadShow Yes the PanDakar car does look the business, I suspect a lot of the parts are custom made?
      Don't you think Fiat are missing out on a softer, toned down Dakar version of the Panda 4x4?
      Like higher suspension, more rugged looking, roof air scoop, rear spoiler mudflaps etc etc👍😎😯

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 года назад +1

      Nath and I are super biased - the Dakar version would be spot on, we also cannot believe they do not do an Abarth version 150bhp and it would fly.

    • @pdtech4524
      @pdtech4524 3 года назад +3

      @@DrivenMadShow There are a few owner converted 'Abarth' turbo 1.4 versions around, seen a few youtube videos now.😎👍
      The panda looks really odd, lowered, with extended wheel archs, ultra wide semi slick tyres, roaring and snarling at the bit, spitting fire, popping and crackling, from a single, central, huge exhaust tail pipe!
      Smoking rubber and squirming all over the place trying to get traction. ...
      But somehow it gets away with also being a sporty car....
      It's such a unique car, I think it lends itself to be anything you want it to be....the shopping car, daily commute or trip into the city car, weekend urban warrior adventure car etc etc

      I remember you telling me that (I don't remember much these days :) ) - I will be interested in your comparisons after a few miles under your belt - such different beasts, but can probably get to the same places, just in a very different way ! - I have a Wrangler Rubicon, the thing terrifies me, put it in 4 low, diff locks on and it is as if the JEEP is turning the planet - the Panda is so light and agile, more fun as well ! so poor old JEEP, is about to go up for sale, I never use it !

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 года назад +2

      Good call Jason, there's a "but" coming ... 🤣Portugal has an outstanding motoring "thing" - vehicles here are double taxed, so a 30K car in say the UK would be almost 40K here and as the vehicle price goes up, so do a selection of taxes - used cars are bizarrely expensive and have decent value, even the ones I would call scrap are 2-3K. I do have a JEEP Wrangler Rubicon - a rarely seen beast, and Nath has an ML, but that needs a new engine - these two are polished within an inch of their lives and never see dust (as an aside, Nath is beside himself I won't let the JEEP see dirt) - a good example of used prices, our 2005 ML is say 1K in the UK - here 12K - real oddities here are Jags (shame as I really want an S type (don't ask why 😂)) and Land Rovers - hold their value incredibly and are mega desirable here - a Defender is rocking horse poo and ludicrous prices - so when we are done with the L200 v Panda duel, think a Grand Cherokee could be a route or an UMM (that will test your car knowledge ).

    • @jasonpowell9022

      @@DrivenMadShow JEEP Wrangler brings back memories, I used to own a 4.0L limited Wrangler on the L plate, metallic green with gold alloys. Had great times with it, but it was awful in the wet and the steering was so light if memory serves me right. you're not alone over there with used car prices going through the roof, it's happening over here too. You like S Type Jags?? Oh how awful! Each to their own I guess. And yes, I had to Google a UMM!! What an oddity, but I like it!...

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  3 года назад +2

      I have to explain myself, my partner at work (UK) bought himself one when we tax dodged by driving vans as our daily drivers ( couple of Vito's - as an aside, mine was tuned to well over 270bhp 🤯) the Jag was sea green with diarrhea brown interior, I endlessly took the piss, hated it on every level etc etc .. roll on a decade and it has sat on his drive unmoved for 3 years - for a laugh Nath and I bought it for a pound as Nath was turning 17, and thought it would be a laugh for him to roll around in it for our last 6 months in the UK - to cut a very long story short, I spent more on it than it was worth😂 it never worked properly and was never Naths first car, the but is, the few drives we had to a garage and part way home (AA needed) it drove so well I fell for it - there is a little unfinished business for me with a Jaguar, never owned one really and think I should before I cark it - although super tempted I always end up searching S class Mercedes of the 80' eara - I am 60 next year and have promised myself something stupid so either S fits the bill, but at the mo an SL55 sets my heart racing 🤓

    My exhaust flexi is in tatters D:

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 года назад +1

      I am just about to learn how to weld :) you know your Panda exhausts 👌 the weld around the flexi is 30% broken - it was not 100% day 1 - but we liked the added rasp 🙈

    • @Gabriel-eq5gq
      @Gabriel-eq5gq 2 года назад +1

      @@DrivenMadShow My flexi is 100% broken. I've got Ziarelli 185/65/15 mud tyres to help lift the Panda a little which has helped with the scrapes. They're also brilliant off-road but horrendous on the tarmac, especially in the rain. I have ordered Rialzi 3cm suspension spacers to try and get more lift out of the Panda but they haven't been fitted yet.

    • @DrivenMadShow
      @DrivenMadShow  2 года назад

      I looked at Ziarelli as they are the only ones who do a size for our ML (255 60 17) the aggro to legally change tyre size here is a nightmare - the old ML is a heavy beast, think in the rain we would crash it 🙈 on those !
