    Perfect timing, I'm on season 3 of using the Cobra F9 and thinking about moving to the RadSpeed XB. Cobra wins for me based off the $100 less price, the difference isn't worth the extra cost.

    Went and tested both these out - RadSpeed felt great - excellent feel off the face. I think Inifinity face > twist face, but the SIM2 went straighter and longer (15ish yards average) for me - even for shots I thought were mishits. Made me feel like there was a lot more forgiveness on the SIM2. I'll admit I probably have a bias for the TMs as I have played them nearly all my life and loved them.

    I've been gaming the King Speedzone for the last year or so, and it's fantastic - such a huge upgrade from my very old Hibore (which I still love like a first born). Was tempted to wait for the new Rad Speeds, but the discount on buying last year's (at the time) was at least $100, and the gains didn't seem all that worth it. I'm super excited to see what the next gen drivers do, though, but am happy to say the Speedzone really is a fantastic driver (bought shortly after watching your review of it, actually, and the adjustability of the weighting has lead to some great discoveries (weight in the back to give way more forgiveness, but way more roll with the weight forward).

    Most drivers are good these days. I've always liked Cobra drivers, but play a Callaway Mavrik Max. I hit the Sim 2 last week and liked it. It would come down to price for me. I think I'd get the Cobra and probably the SZ model because there can't be *that* much difference between the RadSpeed and the SZ.

    I had 2 TM drivers, a Older Areo Burner, and a M2. Face split on the A.B, the carbon fiber crown popped off on the M2. Tm wouldn't do anything, they told my pro shop not to repair it. So, not a big fan of TM.
    I wound up getting the Rad X driver which I'm very happy with, as a plus, I hit the Cobra longer, and more accurately than both of the TM drivers.

    Both are great drivers, I tested them both when getting fitted and loved the Cobra a lot but it all came down to the weight and feel of it. I felt that when swinging the Cobra I lost it a little in the backswing where the Sim2 I was able to feel it through the entire swing. I will say that the Cobra had a better sound, really fantastic

    • @georgyboi6969
      @georgyboi6969 2 года назад +3

      If you get fitted, always remember they will custom build it, so that the swing weights would be to your desire, so the idea of losing it in your back swing won't happen, not something you can always do in a retail shop but from professional fitters, yes

    I have played Taylormade for literally 40 years. I had a tour burner 7 degree loft back in the day. Fun fact, I still have that club as well as my old 9 degree burner. And it went on from there. The only time I briefly played a Ping driver was because Troy Matteson who won the NCAA individual title while at Georgia Tech gave it to me. I still have that one as well. I guess I am sentimental with my drivers. I got to know Troy because I worked with his father some years ago.
    I currently play the M4 and have swing speeds in the mid 110s at 57 years old.

Love my f9 awesome club. I still have a old $80 taylormade rbz driver which works well. I largely purchased based on price. I moved from my trusty Callaway Fusion driver. Admittedly, the tech is several years apart however, I did not want for distance or workability. On a whim I tried the Sim2 Max and was very impressed with its general characteristics. I do not like the top color change, but I have the same confidence level using it as my Fusion and more than I could generate trying the Maverick early Epic drivers. Distance .. maybe a bit more than my Fusion - however, that had nothing to do the change to the Sim2 Max. I have to say, the change to the Sim2 Max was quite "comfortable". I assume this is what one should expect from newer generation drivers but I could not find in everything from the Callaway Rouge II, Epic and Maverick drivers. Who of thunk..

    I think because all manufacturers have got as tight to the regulations as possible there is hardly anything they can do except more consistent speed across the face. That's why it's coming to time that there is no point spending the extra when a Cobra, Mizuno or Cleveland will do the same thing but at a lower price. Its just a marketing battle now.

  • @legend9018
    @legend9018 2 года назад

    I tested both these clubs quite extensively (exclusively on course only) and I found the SIM to be the longer of the two on average and gave me some very long shots. I also preferred the sound and feel from the TaylorMade.
    However the Cobra was very forgiving with mishits suffering very little loss in distance and staying in play even on poor strikes with the Taylormade mishits being much further off line for me. I had to go with the Cobra for consistency and still great distance.

    Mark, do you still have those weird shots you complained about when the first twist face came out? If I remember correctly, you and a few other reviewers had the experience of hitting shots and not seeing the usual gearing due to the twist face, leading to some odd shots that feel very different from where the ball was struck. Maybe it was the first generation but I never heard you about it with the Cobra so I was curious if their 'twistface' is different from TM's.

    Mavrik Max used for $200…..and mavrik max 3,5,7,9,11 woods (Lockey would be proud). I’d love that Sim2 but I paid about the same price for all as a new driver and fairway. Hard to beat that 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I think I would take the Cobra. The white (though I have only hit it a few times) is distracting to me (I think I could get used to it). Price is about 100 cheaper as well, and 100 in my pocket is better than anyone elses.

    SIM for me. In the past with Cobra, you had an issue with high toe shots really dropping off. Have they fixed that issue. No I'm not stalking you Mark.

    I prefer Cobra to TM. Cobra hybrids and fairways always seem to work for me, I've never got on with any TM club Ive tried.

      Exactly how I feel too, my F9s are staying in my bag.

    I would choose the TaylorMade only because it's color scheme is better. If the color of the Cobra driver was equally good, I would choose it.

    Hmm I love that TM, gives me all sorts of funny feelings. Both clubs are way out of my proce range sadly but would be nice to have the choice.

    Have been gaming a Cobra SZ with Hazardous smoke stiff shaft (not fitted) , had a lesson/fitting with my Pro and he set me up with a Radspeed with lighter shaft, still stiff, got 6 mph more club head speed = 20 odd yards carry because I could make the shaft flex, plus great deal on the club, so Cobra on price and performance.

      Hey. What shaft did you change to? What's your swing speed? Thx

    I think price has to play a part, for a me 15hcp and has difficulty off the tee the Rad Speed with it's price point would be the winner. Although if honest I'd pick neither and go for the Cleveland Launcher XL at the moment.

    haven't hit either of those specific drivers, but for me performance and feel trump brand every day of the week. In the absence of a massive difference in performance, the more marketed brand may well end up in people's bags simply due to more people trying it.

    Mark. Does the cobra come with Arccos in the grip ?

    If changing and the numbers were so similar I would go for the one that felt the nicest.

    For the money, Cobra all day. Best value between the two. I have a Speedzone Extreme and it’s been great.

    The brand that sells to me is the one selling for less money. If I tested both of these, one would have to be massively better to spend more money.

    For the average golfer has too be sim2 more consistent I tried both couldn’t hit cobra but find sim 2 even if you don’t hit it well you still end up with decent distance and placing on fairway. I guess it’s down to what suits you.
