Excellent video, Michael. This really encourages me in considering our move to FL. Im originally from the Midwest, so doing what I say I will do is common sense and just plain right. Thanks!
My husband is an electrical contractor on Coronado Island, in San Diego, and he said he is successful because he gives a client a date and a time, and he is there when he says he will be. He said his clients say that you cannot believe how many people will give you a date and a time that they will be there, and then never show up, or show up way later. He said that, coupled with being honest and fair, and doing what you say you are going to do, will get you all the success you could ever want.

Thanks for your insights Michael, it's really good to hear your thoughts on starting a business in Florida. We're planning such a move (as soon as the corona situation gets better) and it's reassuring to learn how basic business skills will get us far.
Based on what you have said, looks like Florida is not a business environment like New York City, where people treat business appointments more seriously. It’s more of a vacation area. Maybe that’s why nobody cares to be “polished” on appointments and productivity?
I would have to mostly concur with that. It's not that there aren't professional people here, because there are, I consider myself one of them and have met others. But seems to be rare. But at the same time, it's opportunity since the competition is pretty weak👍
Yep so true, good business ethics and service is hard to come by in south Florida. And lots of lying as well. Honesty is the best policy and being punctual and following through with your word, like returning a call or following up. You’ll be ahead of 99% of others in your field.
I would love to start my own business, I work in Government here in South Florida, needless to say I'm beyond disillusioned and bored, I want to increase my income while not answering to anyone, the problem is just figuring out what to do.
I think figuring out what to do can be one of the toughest parts of going into business. It certainly was for me. Maybe start with your interests, talents or hobbies, figure out what you like and are good at, and start with that. I totally understand wanting the freedom and income potential 👌

Wow, did not know Florida service professional were like you describe. I guess people are too relax, they take it easy too much since Florida seems beautiful. Moving there seems nice since all you to do to be successful is being on time, reliable and transparent... well that sounds simple... hopefully I won’t get caught in the Floridian ways hehe 😅
I know right? Doesn't it sound so easy? I don't want to over simplify starting a business, because it is always a process and requires some capital up front, but once you are in business, I really think it's that simple haha😀
