If your sky is black after creating the sun, to fix it do this : Go over to your mapping node and check the box which says "Clamp". That should fix it, hope I helped :)
This was a really great tutorial but I'm having one slight problem: The sky now seems to lighten everything in my scene, making dark textures just bright blue (and shifting brights towards blue too). I'm kinda lost so any help would be appreciated!!
Hi, this might be because the light intensity of the blue buts of the sky is too hight compared to the sun intensity. So you could try decreasing the intensity of the background node. You may also find that adding a sun lamp with a higher intensity works well
Actually I got it working using lightpath node, if anyone else has a problem with this check this guy's video: ruclips.net/video/NCM0v2erqtw/видео.html
To fix the issue with the sky being black when inserting the MAP RANGE node set the "To Min" to "1" and not "0". I am sure that everybody here including myself set it to "0" after copy or inserting the last map range node.
to get the texture coordinate and mapping node automatically spawned and connected to the selected node, you can use the node wrangler's "Control T" feature by pressing those keys on your keyboard (Control T)
Excellent tutorial. Especially the idea of such procedural sky for EEVEE. It's Fantastic...One small suggestion. As you like to keep things organized try using reroute option in node editor. Especially in start from the it looks complex. Otherwise the concept and the tutorial saved my life. I am planning to render out a image sequence in EEVEE and I will use your method. Thanks man..😍✌️
Thanks a lot! I searched an alternative for "Nishita Sky" in Blender 2.9.... unfortunately, my laptop doesn't support the recent blender version, but this video Just Made my day! :)
*Thank you for the video. Thanks to you, I learned how to make the sky. Please tell me the answers to a few questions: how to add clouds to that sky, how to make a bright sunny day, how to change day to night? What else needs to be added to these knives that are shown in your video so that what I have listed in these questions is possible.*
Hey glad to help. The fog was created using cycles' compositor. I used the mist pass from the scene drop down when rendering and blended it with a yellowish dirt colour to create the effect of atmospheric haze.
Yes, there are many ways but it might get a bit more complex. I would suggest trying out the noise texture. There are probably some other tutorials out there that will show you how to make clouds in greater detail.
Thanks for this excellent tutorial. I now have a horizon and a sun. I also had volume clouds already, using the World Output node, but it seems impossible to confine them to the sky, so that they only occur at some height distance above 0 on Z. I tried incorporating parts of your node set up, with and without a Separate XYZ node.. so far to no avail.
Yeah clouds can be quite difficult to get looking right. I would recommend trying to scale them down on the Z axis and perhaps use the gradient technique I showed in the video to mask out the lower parts. My best bet would be to pre render the clouds as volume objects to get realistic lighting and then add them to your 3d scene. It will also allow you to have better customisation over each cloud. I might be a bit late to respond but I hope this still helps.
Yeah, sorry about that, I know some other people commented with the same issue, but we couldn't find the cause. I'll update you if I ever find out what the problem is...
At what stage does this happen? Is it after adding the mix nodes for the sunset / stars or changing the sun intensity etc? It may also be due to the render settings, viewport render mode or nodes simply being linked up wrong. Hope this helps...
Ok, I'm thinking it might be due to the values in the map range being set up incorrectly or something do with render settings (make sure to use filmic or srgb colour space). I'm going to try remaking it on the newest version of blender to see if the problem was caused by an update.
@@jacobfoster8949 Mine turns black when I preview the last Gradient texture on the sunset atmospheric haze. (the third Gradient texture). So when in the tutorial it is black and white (gradient) it turns black in my case
@@Peterssonpaints Ok, so i've been playing around with it on and off for a couple days now and I can't find the source of the problem. My only other questions / suggestions would be : - Check the problem is not related to the node wrangler preview (manually hook the gradient up to the output colour). - Check the view port camera orientation isn't just facing the black bit so it looks like all there is (I know it seems silly but I have made this mistake before and wondered what was happening). - Does the problem occur before or after plugging it into the map range and colour ramp? - Double check that the texture coordinate and mapping nodes are all hooked up the same as the video. - Make sure your monitor is calibrated correctly (however if it only occurs on the third gradient, this probably isn't the problem). - Check that the gradient type is set to linear. Sorry that I can't find a solution, guys. I have tried it on other versions of blender 2.8 (the LTS , 2.83, 2.82 etc) to see if that was the issue but I still could not find the issue. Tell me if anything I mentioned has worked / not worked and good luck.
I'm not sure if it will work, because some features like the voronoi node have changed since then and I don't think you can have a map range in 2.79. There are work-arounds for both these issues but it may take a while to figure out.

But if you need to make a day night cycle..how can you control the values
You can keyframe the colour values you enter in the colour ramp.
For some reason, the mix shader swap threw mw completely off
Thank you.

how can i export it in unity?
can this setup be used to animate a sunset?
Yup

cool. do you have a link to a demo or something? curious how this looks
You can just keyframe the rotation of the mapping node for the bit that makes the sun by pressing "I" over it on both frames you want to keyframe.
