Thanks Jan. Easy tip I have used for grandbabies. Cut off four to six inches of the bottoms of legs and add another color or design flannel in its place to add fun. But then add the cut off to sleeves or hem of a t-shirt or a shirt you sew. Then it becomes a two piece set with no waste.
Hi Jan I learned to sew from my grandmother and my mother, and made many garments for my children as they were growing including pajama bottoms. I love watching your videos because they are relaxing to me and help inspire me to get working on my sewing projects. I love your craft room and hope to have one of my own someday. I really noticed you using the coffee cups to hold your pattern down. My mom used to homeschool my children and they had bought her two very heavy decorative glass and stone apples. my mother used to use those to hold the pattern pieces down because we usually had a fan blowing on us while we were doing our summer sewing projects. My mom passed away several years ago, but every time I sew now, I bring her apples to the table and still use them. It didn’t feel right sewing without her, but having her apples there makes me feel like she’s there with me again. Thank you again.
I am so grateful for your channel and your calm, clear teaching skills. I just finished my first pair of p.j. bottoms and will be making many more for my family. Thank you!
Thank you so much for a tut PDF video, most of the PDF bought never offer tips or tricks. Its a read and follow thru and hope you do a good job and not end up with 2 left legs. Just bought this PDF and will love making it.
I absolutely love your videos. So clear & detailed. I’m hoping to get a new sewing machine for Christmas and this will be one of my first projects! Thank you for the tutorial!
Been going to start up sewing for a decade, lol. Haven't sewn since middle school home economics... Love how your explained details and close ups. Also not loud and excessive with your words. I subscribed! I am going to order some fabric for jamee pants for me and my young adult kiddos! And use your tutorial. Hopefully my brand new sewing machine works that has been in storage, lol!!! Do you have recommendations for a surger? I loved that in this video.
Awesome. That is so fun you are going to start sewing again. Thanks for subscribing. I love my babylock victory. Here is a video showing how to thread this serger that will show you the brand and some of the functions. ruclips.net/video/W8H2UAre6x0/видео.htmlsi=VjLgAOyZXGe8w74s
Hi Jan, I am so happy to say I bought your pattern and you video to show us is amazing. I’m messed up before trying to make the pants for my grandkids and I gave up on it cause I couldn’t figure it out well, your pattern is perfect and I got the cut out part already down. I am using a size 3 , 4 &8 so I went to Joanns to get my fabric. They were on sale this weekend and I went to cut out the size 8 and the fabric still was not enough. It said in the directions one and a quarter but I went ahead and bought one and a half just in case and it still wasn’t enough. It only cut out one panel not two so I don’t know what were wrong there and I gotta go buy more and my other size 8 I don’t have enough fabric to make the size 8 either so it’s more fabric than what the pattern says. Just wanted to call.. thank you so much for a wonderful pattern easy to follow and your video is absolutely amazing. I’m not good at clothes. I’m good at quilts and crappy stuff.
Hi Debbie, Sorry for the slow reply. About the yardage, did you use a fabric that that was one directions, meaning you couldn't nest the pattern to use less fabric. I think I explain that in the video. If the fabric has big plaids or directional, you'll have to cut them differently. Now you have me second guessing the fabric yardage guide, in which I will review. That must have been so frustrating to have to go back and buy more fabric. I am so sorry about. that. Let me know if you have further comments or questions.
Flannel at JoAnns might be 42 or 43 inches wide. Those who are new to buying fabric, the width is on the end of the bolt and usually does not include the selvedge. Selvedge shrinks differently so usually not used when cutting a pattern.
Great video and tips! I watched the video even tho it was not exactly what I was looking for.....You may want to add "Child's PJ Pants" to the title. I was a little let down to see this was not a tute for adults PJ's, but I will just have to keep looking. ty!
I am inspired by your PJ bottom tutorial! I also didn't know about pre-pressing the seam allowance and hem...genius! What brand ruler and iron do you use?
Is that ironing surface DIYed? Most of the ironing surfaces I can find are quite large. They are great for ironing clothes in general, but yours is particularly suitable for sewing.
Est-ce que le couteau de votre surfileuse est activé ou vous surfilez sans le couteau ? Car coudre des arrondis avec le couteau activé me fait peur lol j’aurais peur de couper les tissus et faire un trou
When I watched the video making the child's pj with the faux tie (boys) I was hoping you would show how to make the center opening for bringing the tie strings all the way round and coming out in front to tie. I make boys shorts for the Little Dresses for Africa organization. I have tried making
Thanks.....I eagerly await your instructions. This is the hardest part of little boys shorts, or pj's......LIttle Dresses for Africa tried to help boys as well as girls. Thanks again!

Great tip!
For my grandson, I make the pants from a novelty fabric, purchase a plain t-shirt, and make a chest pocket from the pants fabric.
What a great idea!
Make a 2inch hem on kids pants, so you can let the hem down when they grow an inch the month after you gift them
Very helpful making my own pj bottoms at 68 years of age! It had been ages since I sewed any clothing, so needed this refresher. Thank you!!
Wonderful

I am inspired by your PJ bottom tutorial! I also didn't know about pre-pressing the seam allowance and hem...genius! What brand ruler and iron do you use?
The iron is a Panasonic cordless geni.us/CjjbxhW
Are you talking rotary cutting ruler or the Hot hemmer pressing ruler?
@@JanHowell The hot hemming ruler. I didn't even know that existed--it looks so much easier to use than the ruler you showed.
Great demo thank you 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you!👍🏼💖

It's on sale right now for cyber Monday sale
I need this pattern in adult sizes!
There are a lot of good patterns out there. Sorry I don't have one available.
I can't wait to try this. Can I use the same pattern for boys and girls ages 5 to 7 and just adjust for the waist and length? (newbie)
absolutely
Hi! Very new to seeing. Could you use fleece? Would you change anything?
Yes
No need to change anything
Lovely
Thank you
I was given a serger and would love to know how to use it. I need easy beginner projects to do with the serger.
I hope you can give these pants a try with your new serger.
Also, do you have a pattern that fits an Adult 2x or 3X?
I'm sorry I don't right now, but am working on the pattern for the larger sizes.
Hello, you cut the fabric or Its just a surjet without cut ? Sory for my inglish im french

The front piece will have a shorter crotch.
Great!😊❤it
By?
Thank you!
What brands are your machine?
I have a Babylock, and two Pfaf sewing machines.
Jan, how do you like your cordless iron? Also, the tip link doesn't seem to work.
I like my cordless iron. The only thing is that you cant' have it off the charger for a long period or it cools down.
Is there a place to get this pattern?
Yes, here is the link youmakeitsimple.com/product/pajama-pants-pdf-sewing-pattern-sizes-2t-child-12/
When you learn to hem, the people will come... haha!

I was hoping it would be for adults.
I hope you've seen the adult video tutorial. You can view it here ruclips.net/video/YgOLhDTGdkY/видео.html
