I'm sure you hear this all the time, but when I type a question into the search box, I always scroll a little (of course!) if I see a video from you with the answer I always want to see that one first. Of all the creators I've come across looking for answers, you've always been the one who explains easily without saying the same thing over and over or being mean. You've really helped me learn to sew faster and better. Thank you!!!
Iris, thank you so much for your kind words and welcome! Make sure you check out all of the Members perks (there is so much on Google Drive) and make the most of them :)
So glad I found this video. I love the simplicity of making the pants pattern AND the pockets. I feel the pattern can also be used to make a pair of dress pants you wear "out." Just change the fabric you make them out of, I guess. TY for sharing the video with us.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have learned so much. I am still new to sewing and I am now so excited to make pants thank you SOOOOOO much for this
Hi Alisa. I am so happy that I came across your videos. I have watched a few and I like your style of teaching. I have tried making pants for my son from other tutorials but watching yours have made me learn so much more and given me a greater understanding of the mistakes I made. I am really looking forward to making some more pants for him and some tops for myself. Please continue creating these very informative and practical videos for us to follow along. Thank you so very much. God bless.
Cindy, hello there - I read your comment and my heart did a happy dance! I am so happy that you found more courage and understanding through these videos! That is exactly why I make them. Thank you for your kind comment and happy sewing to you!
Thank you so very much, just going to make some for my son had the fabric but no pattern !found this tutorial just in time especially the waistband as I always tend to have this part looking a bit messy when simply folding over. Thank you I am so grateful to you for sharing your expertise x
Very timely video for me. I'm making pj pants for my kids and in-laws and grandkids for Christmas. I've finished 10 of them already, but the others are going to have the benefit of your pocket ideas. (I'm trying to vary them a little; all have pockets but not just like this.) You're such an inspiration.
Wow, you made it seem painless Alisa😆 I will give it a go for sure, but I will turn mine into gardening pants! Thank you for the tips and as soon as I purchase the fabric, I´ll come back to this video and we´ll do it together! I just subscribed 😘
Somehow I missed this video a few months ago, but glad I found it! I have patterns for joggers but I already have a pair of RTW ones that fit perfectly. I think i'm going to tackle making a pattern out of them this weekend! Eep!
Really cute. I needed a little more direction that what you provided. My first pair I cut out I made two right legs ;-( . I redid and am happy with how they turned out!
Been watching your tutorials non stop past few days since I came across them. It’s very helpful & end products looks amazing. Your pattern making is the most interesting thing for me as I am new to making clothes. Will try very soon. Thanks for all the instructions & guidance plus your happy cute presentation
Thanks for.this. I bought a pattern for pants and I have been dragging out making it because the instructions are just crazy. Too much reading for my liking. This was making me feel bad because I spent a lot of money on a new sewing machine and buying material and the shipping costs et. I'm gonna skip that pattern and follow your technique for pockets and waistband. I knew it should be more simple. Ps I'm gonna subscribe and check out joining if this works out for me. It's nice to have a person to see along with. I need one
Marie, hi! Yes, totally get you on buying a pattern band then feeling bad because it was an expensive buy...so very true, hope this video helps! I feel that sometimes things are tad bit overcomplicated by other people... Just for the sake of over complicating :)
@@ThoughtfulCreativity thank you. they reakky do over complicate things. What doesnt help is that it's written in 4 different languages . Lol. Thank you.
I just watched the pattern video & after asking if there was a sewing video, I found this one. LOL. Pockets! I love pockets! Those pants are super cute when finished. I love that you have an elastic waistband that isn't gathered. It looks so comfortable. I think I would want pockets that have lining and are on the inside of the pants though. But I think that is a matter of cutting an opening in the pants at the angle you want to have for the pockets (but leaving room for seam allowances)? Maybe the pockets could be lined with that gray stretch fabric. LOL.
Awesome!! This is the best tutorial about sewing pants. And I watched your other video about drafting a pattern for it. I’m so excited to get going on this project
Your tutorials are really blissful to watch and they are so clearly explained. I always use the tip for the waistband now! With my hourglass figure, have a clear waist and with the regular waistband it doesn't fit nicely. Also the explanation and creation of the pockets is clever and clear! Thank you Alisa for sharing your creativity! 👏👌 greetings from Belgium😚
I bought a pattern for PJ's before seeing this video. I might not have gotten it if i had seen this video before. 😉 Anyway. the largest size it goes up to is an XL, and, i need it to be a 2XL. (It was the last one of the pattern in the drawer, so, I had no other choice. 😉 ) I am wondering if you know how I can possibly enlarge the pattern to the correct size ? TYSM for sharing your techniques and this video with us. I do appreciate your help either way. Love your channel. 😻❣️😍
I just finished my pants from fleece. They are so soft & comfortable. The first lounge pants I've had that are long enough. I do need to figure out a crotch adjustment before I make more. Great tutorial
I have just found your channel and I am really enjoying your clear and relaxed explanations. If I wanted to make these pants to wear out and about with sandals for spring/summer, what type of material would you suggest I use for a loose comfort fit and would you you still use stretch jersey for the waistband? Thank you.

Hello and thank you! I am making the pants and I have a question... Do I make 2 waist bands? then sew them together? Since the one pattern is the total of the front and back pant which makes it fit front or back but not both. I am brand new to sewing and I'm loving every minute and every little detail of the experience. I hope you or someone can help with my question. Thank You!!
DeeDee, hello there and thank you for being here! Let's see, I am not at my desk right now, but yes, if you draft the waistband as half, witht the plan of cutting two of those pattern pieces or cutting it on the fold, then yes, you will need to either cut twice or on the fold. Otherwise you won't be able to attach it, as it won't be long enough. Let me know if this cleared it up for you and happy sewing!
