This Kada Prasad is called 'Sukrit' in our community, we belong to Shia sect of Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. It's given to us like Prasad in the Jamatkhana (prayer house) on special days and Fridays. Happy to see how we all have similar traditions.

I was reminded of Kara Prasad at the golden temple. The ghee was literally dripping all over. It was also not too sugary sweet but sweet with the maker's shraddha.

Seriously?? 😮 Sir, honestly when I visited Sri Harmandir Sahib and had the halwa, my parents and I were confident about the fact that it was suji ka halwa with some erotic ingredients which wasn't possible to make in a standard Bengali kitchen because it was just out of the world. I didn't in my wildest dreams imagine that it was actually ATTA!! 😯 What I did was I immediately made the halwa and presented it to the Almighty. Because be it GuruNanakji or Sri Ramkrishna, it's all one. And trust me Sir..it tasted heavenly.😍 Yes I am sceptical about the amount of ghee and sugar consumed, and the next time will try to use lesser of those ingredients. But it tasted so similar. My father still thinks it to be Suji. 😛😛😛 Thank you so much Sir for this recipe.
Humare ghar me mummy bachpan se Atte ka halwa banati thi with vanaspati ghee or sometime ghee & it taste same. When I visited Gurudware for the first tym at the age of 24, I was surprised to receive same halwa as prasad from Gurudware & I was delighted to eat it. It's very common to cook Aate ka halwa in Bihar, UP, Punjab....

I was reminded of Kara Prasad at the golden temple. The ghee was literally dripping all over. It was also not too sugary sweet but sweet with the maker's shraddha.

Seriously?? 😮 Sir, honestly when I visited Sri Harmandir Sahib and had the halwa, my parents and I were confident about the fact that it was suji ka halwa with some erotic ingredients which wasn't possible to make in a standard Bengali kitchen because it was just out of the world. I didn't in my wildest dreams imagine that it was actually ATTA!! 😯 What I did was I immediately made the halwa and presented it to the Almighty. Because be it GuruNanakji or Sri Ramkrishna, it's all one. And trust me Sir..it tasted heavenly.😍 Yes I am sceptical about the amount of ghee and sugar consumed, and the next time will try to use lesser of those ingredients. But it tasted so similar. My father still thinks it to be Suji. 😛😛😛 Thank you so much Sir for this recipe.
There is special mota aata for making halwa, sooji and aata both from wheat....maybe that's why it gave feeling of rawa
It should be exotic ingredients and not erotic ingredients ma'am.
Humare ghar me mummy bachpan se Atte ka halwa banati thi with vanaspati ghee or sometime ghee & it taste same.
When I visited Gurudware for the first tym at the age of 24, I was surprised to receive same halwa as prasad from Gurudware & I was delighted to eat it.
It's very common to cook Aate ka halwa in Bihar, UP, Punjab....
Its Atta. U might had got the thicker Atta commonly called mota atta, which may resemble like suji in some recipies
In Gurudwara they use Whole Wheat thick Atta.
