Agreed, although for a game on Switch building that in means building and testing four different configurations. That's quite a bit of extra work, but it is well worth it for getting a quality game.
Wrong. Not all games can have the option. Sometimes youd get a choice between 40 fps at low res or 30fps at high. It's not worth it for 10 fps in most games

Thanks for comparing to PS3/360 instead of just PS4, this was missing from some Switch analyses including Skyrim. It's interesting to see how a current gen portable device stacks up to last gen's dedicated consoles

If you want a more classic Zelda game and haven't played this yet you should buy it. it's Zelda like Dungeons with a fighting system that feels like a Mix of DMC3 and God of War 2

The remaster doesn’t run that great on PS4 etc so I’m wondering what they’d need to do to dial it back. As for Arkham knight. I’ve seen the game running good on lower spec when you disable post fx like bloom, depth of field etc. It still is a good looking game without them It might be possible if you just dialed those down extensively. I’m curious if panic button could pull it off.

Dear lord, the Wii U's hardware really was absolute garbage, wasn't it? How is it that the Wii U's bespoke CPU and GPU struggle to run a port of a PS3 game at a framerate above the teens, whereas a tablet SoC made two years later runs it without any difficulty at a 33% higher resolution?
WiiU's GPU is actually a fair bit more then the PS3/360s GPUs. The biggest problem is the WiiUs CPU which is basicly an overclocked Wii CPU, which is an overclocked Gamecube CPU. It creates a massive bottleneck and really holds the console back in performance. Switch has a much more modern CPU and much more GPU then the WiiU, so makes sense why it has much better ports

I remember at the time the game was panned by so many for copying. Can't remember the game but another game came out so close to it that was similar. I much preferred Darksiders anyway though early levels are a bit boring on this one.

It's also hardly a mistake, because John made it very clear that 1. the Switch version is clearly superior to the PS3 original and 2. that the port is impressive in general. Either these people don't speak English or they are 6 years old (or both).
More people need to play this game. It's criminally underrated. I know this may sound weird, but this game feels like that, a game. No super realistic looks, no pretentious indie artsy stuff, just pure fun, unadulterated action adventure. In fact, this is the kind of game that one may feel like it's being ported from a late 90s project but with overhauled graphics...if that somehow makes sense. Seriously, get this game.
I totally get what you are saying and its bang on. A throw back to gameplay and story, with the advantage of modern graphics. I think it's a problem in general modern game development gets stuck in.....specs, resolution, open world exploration, etc. It ties the hands of the storytelling and gameplay. I never minded that there was a 3ft fence/wall I couldn't jump over as War, because intuitively I knew it wasn't part of the story. For me, Darksiders was a much bigger, better graphics and action version of my all time favorite game...Metal Gear Solid for the PS1.

I'll cover it for you right now... meh (for PC). Textures are a bit better I guess but once you start playing it doesn't feel or look any different to me. I had to force on VSYNC with the original but the Remastered version has no issues. I didn't compare FPS... *AAARGH... I just tried to load the game and even though I started it and have a new Level 2 soldier it starts me from the very 1st checkpoint off the bus. No matter which way I try it won't start that new character... my new character also shows up in my "Friends" list which makes no sense.
Id be interested to see this as well, after doing my own side by side I can say that on BL1 textures and detail are a bit better for sure but nothing groundbreaking, and on BL2 the pc version already looked really but the console versions look a bitter better and sharper. The real area i noticed improvements was with the lighting with the HDR use on the console version (xbox 1x), which I really wish they would have included on the pc version. But Id love to see them do a deeper dive cause Im sure they'd notice things i missed.
I'd say good chance. Switch has less games than other consoles and this channel is all about analyzing games, which the Switch is always one to consider because of how unique the console is positioned.

@@Psydrre no, I mean its impressive how big of a leap the Switch is from Wii U when its using an underclocked SOC from 2015. Its very unfair to compare the Switch to the PS4 and call it poor for being only 2 years old, because those consoles aren't using what's basically tablet hardware. Making a hybrid console anywhere near as strong as the Switch was impossible when the PS4 was being developed in 2011.
Would be more interesting if you compared to a PS4 or an Xbox One. Think the installbase on the PS4 or the original Xbox is way higher than the PS4 Pro. Personally I own the Switch and normal PS4 so I usually look for a comparison between those 2 consoles to decide which version to go for. This one I still think the Switch version is the one to go for even compared to the PS4 Pro but sure there are harder cases.
I really feel like the 2nd game expands on everything. With all DLC the game is long. It’s got a huge game world and all the RPG elements keep you feeling like your constantly getting a little stronger and progressing the entire time. The first game is way more linear.
Theoretically, the Wii U version is also the Warmastered. Was anounced alongside the others, but took longer for optimization issues. I completed it, and besides some hilarious glitches, it's more playable than the ps3 version.

My huge gripes with this game are the crappy camera controls and responsiveness, and how it has no chapter select when it has stupidly annoying puzzle segments which gets worse with the crappy camera cobtrols
The main problem is that the FPS in uncapped on PS4 which makes the console fan to blast full speed for NO reason. Remember the God of War map screen. They could just cap it at 60 and everything would be fine.

Darksiders 2 is still buggy on PlayStation 4 and crashing all the time. You should ask to fix the problem before to release on that platform.

Read the description. That one shot was mislabeled and wasn't caught before posting the video. What do they have to gain by showing the Switch version through the entire video but lying in that one single shot? Acquire some common sense... you appear to be deficient in it.
If you want a more classic Zelda game and haven't played this yet you should buy it. it's Zelda like Dungeons with a fighting system that feels like a Mix of DMC3 and God of War 2

As for Arkham knight. I’ve seen the game running good on lower spec when you disable post fx like bloom, depth of field etc. It still is a good looking game without them It might be possible if you just dialed those down extensively. I’m curious if panic button could pull it off.

Dear lord, the Wii U's hardware really was absolute garbage, wasn't it? How is it that the Wii U's bespoke CPU and GPU struggle to run a port of a PS3 game at a framerate above the teens, whereas a tablet SoC made two years later runs it without any difficulty at a 33% higher resolution?
WiiU's GPU is actually a fair bit more then the PS3/360s GPUs. The biggest problem is the WiiUs CPU which is basicly an overclocked Wii CPU, which is an overclocked Gamecube CPU. It creates a massive bottleneck and really holds the console back in performance. Switch has a much more modern CPU and much more GPU then the WiiU, so makes sense why it has much better ports

I remember at the time the game was panned by so many for copying. Can't remember the game but another game came out so close to it that was similar. I much preferred Darksiders anyway though early levels are a bit boring on this one.

It's also hardly a mistake, because John made it very clear that 1. the Switch version is clearly superior to the PS3 original and 2. that the port is impressive in general. Either these people don't speak English or they are 6 years old (or both).
More people need to play this game. It's criminally underrated. I know this may sound weird, but this game feels like that, a game. No super realistic looks, no pretentious indie artsy stuff, just pure fun, unadulterated action adventure. In fact, this is the kind of game that one may feel like it's being ported from a late 90s project but with overhauled graphics...if that somehow makes sense. Seriously, get this game.

I totally get what you are saying and its bang on. A throw back to gameplay and story, with the advantage of modern graphics. I think it's a problem in general modern game development gets stuck in.....specs, resolution, open world exploration, etc. It ties the hands of the storytelling and gameplay. I never minded that there was a 3ft fence/wall I couldn't jump over as War, because intuitively I knew it wasn't part of the story. For me, Darksiders was a much bigger, better graphics and action version of my all time favorite game...Metal Gear Solid for the PS1.

I'll cover it for you right now... meh (for PC). Textures are a bit better I guess but once you start playing it doesn't feel or look any different to me. I had to force on VSYNC with the original but the Remastered version has no issues. I didn't compare FPS... *AAARGH... I just tried to load the game and even though I started it and have a new Level 2 soldier it starts me from the very 1st checkpoint off the bus. No matter which way I try it won't start that new character... my new character also shows up in my "Friends" list which makes no sense.
Id be interested to see this as well, after doing my own side by side I can say that on BL1 textures and detail are a bit better for sure but nothing groundbreaking, and on BL2 the pc version already looked really but the console versions look a bitter better and sharper. The real area i noticed improvements was with the lighting with the HDR use on the console version (xbox 1x), which I really wish they would have included on the pc version. But Id love to see them do a deeper dive cause Im sure they'd notice things i missed.

I'd say good chance. Switch has less games than other consoles and this channel is all about analyzing games, which the Switch is always one to consider because of how unique the console is positioned.

@@Psydrre no, I mean its impressive how big of a leap the Switch is from Wii U when its using an underclocked SOC from 2015. Its very unfair to compare the Switch to the PS4 and call it poor for being only 2 years old, because those consoles aren't using what's basically tablet hardware. Making a hybrid console anywhere near as strong as the Switch was impossible when the PS4 was being developed in 2011.

Would be more interesting if you compared to a PS4 or an Xbox One. Think the installbase on the PS4 or the original Xbox is way higher than the PS4 Pro.
Personally I own the Switch and normal PS4 so I usually look for a comparison between those 2 consoles to decide which version to go for.
This one I still think the Switch version is the one to go for even compared to the PS4 Pro but sure there are harder cases.

I really feel like the 2nd game expands on everything. With all DLC the game is long. It’s got a huge game world and all the RPG elements keep you feeling like your constantly getting a little stronger and progressing the entire time. The first game is way more linear.

Theoretically, the Wii U version is also the Warmastered. Was anounced alongside the others, but took longer for optimization issues. I completed it, and besides some hilarious glitches, it's more playable than the ps3 version.

My huge gripes with this game are the crappy camera controls and responsiveness, and how it has no chapter select when it has stupidly annoying puzzle segments which gets worse with the crappy camera cobtrols
The main problem is that the FPS in uncapped on PS4 which makes the console fan to blast full speed for NO reason. Remember the God of War map screen. They could just cap it at 60 and everything would be fine.

Mr. GameCrazy I won’t but, honestly, the treatment today is too much. I’m already unwell - I feel like a failure and am severely depressed lately. This kind of thing is like a trigger. I have no choice, after this, I’m disappearing from YT comments. Maybe forever, maybe for a little while. They aren’t worth my time.
