Darksiders is the very definition of rock-solid. It's derivative, nothing it does is particularly memorable - but what it does, it does with flying colours, and with a consistency throughout that many higher-class games cannot match. Meat-and-potatoes gaming at its absolute best. Now I only hope the Steam version is gonna be free from all the performance issues and bugs that messed up DS II: Deathinitive Edition.

Thats why imo these remasters are pure trash, like wheres the new installments? No amount of remasters will ever fill that hole. The game is great, why charge console all over again vs free on pc liikely make a new game, re-layout the maps, add more mobs ffs "DO something" - heck even flip horizontal screen radically changes the feel of a game.
My point - they cba making decent gsmes anymore so they lazily remaster old games that had some 'meat' and waste valuable dev-time rather than a tiny bit of effort to change and improve it.
TAPETRVETVBE I got the Warmastered edition for free since I already owned the original one.
TAPETRVETVBE I run the game at a solid 60 at max settings with v-sync, but for some reason there's occasional drops to around 10 fps at completely random intervals. Doesn't ruin the experience though.
I like War's voice, it's like he is perpetually holding it in and can never find a bathroom.
the same guy voiced illidan and yasuo ^^ i love the voice XD sounds soo epic XD but imo fits those to alittle bit better :P

IGN is pure Emotional BS pared with Entertainment Tonight style of reporting. Man I miss GameTrailers even though they were sell-outs to some some big names but they still had character compared to IGN.

i love how he actually puts everything in it's category. and not just well you know since the graphics suck, we are going to stop the review at that. that is pretty much every reviewer out there, like *cough* ign *cough*. but he actually talks about combat and sound and graphics separately like their own entity.
like how ig graphics are not cutting edge. other portions of the game can make up for it, good story great controls, awesome sound.
like the chilling soundtrack from darksiders 2. when going up the elevator to fight the crow father, was like omfg that's chilling and yet very sweet.

Darksiders 2 was only a few years old at the time as well. It's the better game from what I've heard, maybe that's why?

This game was one of the few games that reminded me of the good old days of Soul Reaver which i loved.
It's actually free on PC for people who already own the original game.

Darksiders is a AAA Title. A Great game that can be challenging, i'd say the normal difficulty is the easy here but maybe its just me. You play as WAR, one of the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse.
The Art and graphics are great, especially if you like gears of war. You can chain combos on your enemies with moves that you buy with the souls you collect. Think of this game as a Gothic Zelda game (no joke) : you get items and equipment that help you get to new places and dungeons and advance the story.
I highly recommend this game even in 2016
On PC the original edition goes up to 1920*1080 and you'll get 60 fps since the game is 6 years old but the art direction helps keeping it from looking old.
I hear it also works only with a geniune xbox360 (maybe xboxone) controller so do some digging to see if it will work with your controller.
Even on console the game is great, if you have a ps3 or a xbox360 go buy it if you never played it, it's badass and must be dirt cheap now.
It takes a lot of ideas from AAA games, but it definitely isn't one. It doesn't have anywhere near the polish of a Zelda or God of War.

PC version still has unpatched performance issues. I get microstutter and fps dips even with a 8700K and a GTX 1080. The game sometimes doesn't recognize my Xbox one and Xbox 360 controller. Other than that, the game is very solid.
More gamers need to give this series a chance darksiders 2 is one of the best under rated games of last gen

Always did love Darksiders , I think it lost a little something with the open world in 2 but I still liked it.
28OntheRise it made the collectibles very tedious to get since they don't give you anyway to check what you have and what you're missing from the areas you visit in the second game
At this point I just want a debut CGI trailer for Darksiders 3. I'm hoping for PSX, or VGA 2016.

This game is a love letter to zelda of the golden age on N64 and soul reaver. And totally pulls it off in every way it can. I loved this game on ps3 and love it as much on ps4,its not worlds different but its smoother and smoother on ps4 and I've never hit any dips in fps myself.

I wish some game developers would take as much personal interest and devotion when designing games; On that note, I felt that the team who designed the Darksiders games really did just that- Darksiders I & II felt to me (Old PS3 versions)- in spite of obvious mechanical issues that they really cared about the characters, the story and the epic feel of the game. Somebody LOVED those old school "Dungeon Crawlers" and brought them to VIVID life in the Darksiders games... I TRULY hope a 3rd is coming.

Haljordan4life kinda how in the Nathan Drake collection, the original Uncharted is completely rebuilt while 2 and 3 are barely changed.
Darksiders is a great game, I hope this is a sign they're making a third one, I was devastated when THQ went under because I loved the franchise. I don't think the games are perfect, but the combat and puzzle gameplay is amazing, need to work on pacing and story a bit though.
Atleast this is a sign that they still care about the franchise. So hopefully this will sell enough so they can make Darksiders 3

I just beat the game the other day on Xbox Game Pass and the puzzles were a TRUE pain in the ass, yet the end battle and the end scenes were well worth it. I'm now doing Darksiders 2 and while it looks good, I'm not really happy with the battle system as you can't block (unless it comes later in the game because I'm not that far in yet.)
Darksiders 1 and 2 bundle is on sale for 20 dollars on ps4, I instantly snagged em! I've never had the chance to play Darksiders 1 and I only played a little bit of 2. I didn't realize it had 4k support on ps4 pro, so that's a plus.

DS1 was (and is still) in my top 5 favorite games of ALL time. So when DS2 was announced I was giddy as can be. Then I found out you play as Death not War....Sad....Then I played the game and realized all of the charm from the first game had been lost in the second game. So I was very sad all in all. thank goodness I get to relive one of my favorite games with beautiful graphics! Please go buy the game everyone!

5:40 You forgot to mention that there are 2 distinct blade sounds, so you can know your timing for delayed combos I think that good attention

Awesome! Can't wait to pick this up! The Darksiders franchise along with Bayonetta and Vanquish were the cream of the crop when it came to action games last generation. So the opportunity to play this in a remaster for PS4 will be a welcome edition to my game library. Now if we could just get Darksiders 3!!! Sigh. Lol. Another awesome review as always man. I Love this series, but I hate that whenever a company remasters a game on XB1 they don't allow the last gen original become backwards compatible, forcing us to buy it a second time or rely on aging hardware. (Gears of War 1/ultimate edition excluded)
I know now what was bothering me the entire time I was watching the video. War and Illidan of warcraft share the same voice actor. It's weird to me to have the voice of the tall, slender demon elf in this bulky mass of iron.

I am a huge Fanboy of this and the second game. They have always been at the tops of list, even though I am mainly an FPS and Racing game player. This has got to be one of the most thought out and well done reviews I have ever seen. Never seeing one of your reviews before I can only hope they are as well done.
I got the notification that I got this for free on pc since I already had it on Steam. What's interesting is that this is a new, separate game download rather than a game update.

Just wanted to update PS4 owners. There was just a patch earlier today... so hopefully they fixed the PS4 cutscene sync issues (people are having voice over sync issues in the cutscenes on PS4) and the frame rate issues Karak mentioned. If I try it soon I will update this post to let you guys know if it fixed the issues or not... if anyone else tried first please reply and let us know.
EDIT: I can confirm now that they did indeed fix the sync issue!!

i played the original. Didn't realize they improved it that much with the Warmastered edition. Will play again.
After a couple hours of gameplay i felt like i was playing Zelda mixed with God Of War... and I love it.
Played it a second time after a while on hardest mode. It was great! I hope they are going to make a whole serie aout of these, cause Darksiders 2 was also very cool to play and much different than the first one. (Besides there are a view more apocalyptic riders then War and Death, and i really want to play as those too.)

It's not Darksiders, it's Puzzlesiders with tons of filler unneeded battles and unfair bosses, due to the fucking fact that nobody has the audacity to explain what the hell are you supposed to do. This game starts as a great adventure, turning into a grind and ultimately a chore to play.
So glad this is coming out on Switch too.

people tells me to wait for the wii u version, darksiders 2 on wiiu was really different for me, the 2nd screen really did make a difference on the game experience (mostly because the map)
It would be good if this game was a bit like Diablo3, where you can play with other players, and run dungeons for better gear, etc. What I loved about this game is the look of the hero, weapons, and skills' animations.

I believe the Darksiders franchise was gobbled up by Nordic Games after THQ went belly-up. Considering that NG already announced working on a new "Nexus" game, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually got to work on a new Darksiders. So there's still hope...
Great review. Though my favorite voice work in this one is definitely Samael. Maybe it's just the dialogue but the guy who did it should be praised as I felt it was unique.

Both of these games are just great. They're some of the best action games you can play and the downside of being on the last gen was that its great art style couldn't come out as well as it should have given the low resolution. Great to see both games have now been given the remaster treatment. Also kudos for the brilliant and aptly named titles of each game. Warmastered? Deathinitive? Genius.
Reminds me of how much I enjoyed this game. Extra points for not mentioning God of War like every other review when it first came out.

I bought the collection in the last steam sale so I'm not buying it again but I have to say. On the pc there aren't many games like this. At 20$ it is a buy for sure.
And if you like it, theres a 2nd game allready remastered for about the same price.
Pros for me are : comic book like graphics and great design, Action combat and puzzles. Must buy if you like Prince of persia, God of war or Devil May Cry.
Darksiders is an ok game that gets better and better the longer you play it. Lovely art design, awesome combat mechanics, really cool exploration and puzzle sequences (though the tower at the end of the game, oh my god)
And cool hidden boss fight and really hard to find end-game armor.
i only had to watch this review to decide that iam subscribing.

Love this universe and characters.

I bought Darksiders 2 a few months back for around £3 and absolutely loved it. This actually looks even better. The move sets and weapons look off the scale!
Can't wait to get heavily involved in this ruckus...after I complete Arkham Knight, a game I swore I'd never buy on principal, but got seduced by the £5 price tag on CDKeys yesterday.
So many games to lose oneself in right now.
