We wanted to put British Airways, the UK's flag carrier, to the test. On a 777 from London to Abu Dhabi four members of The Points Guy UK team reviewed all four classes on board - first class, business class, premium economy and economy. Settle in for a flight review like no other.

Having an empty seat next to you makes all the difference on a long haul flight. It's probably the single largest improvement to an experience in economy.

I was at Australian in April ... my flights consisted of
Scotland (edingburgh) to France (Paris charles de Gaulles) was 2 hours 15 minutes
Paris to Singapore (Changi) was 16 and a half hours
Changi to Melbourne (Australia) was 9 and a half hours
I got a free upgrade from economy to First class for the 16 and a half hour flight as the doors closed and on the 8 and a half hour flight me and the 3 family members all had a fill row of seats each
But it also a lot colder....
Traded one time for an older lady and ended up going from a window to a middle seat in the middle row. It was worth it, watched her smile out the window the whole time landing on Germany and it was the sweetest thing ever

Tell me about it; I flew from Toronto to the DR on Economy...It was PACKED....Luckily only 3.5 hours and no kids. Just flew back from NOLA last week and Economy was crowded as well, but not jam packed...

Yeah, I traveled from Pakistan to Canada with PIA and the flight should have been 13 hours but I was stuck on it for 15 because the weather wasn't good and they delayed takeoff but had the passengers stay on board. We always fly economy- it was cramped, food wasn't that good, and we were basically stuck in our seats for 15 hours. Not to mention: crying kids, passengers in front of you reclining their seat, and passengers in the back kicking you. Overall, it sucked.
Mike Roberts yep i had a disgusting baby in the row before me and she threw up on my backpack and the parents only laughed😡 Me sister screamed at them and made them clean up my backpack. I hated that baby and all I wanted to do was punching the parents in the face
I remember this delightful flight from Arizona to Frankfurt on Condor, surrounded by angry Germans that were so angry that me and my neighbor DARED having a conversation at 4 PM when everyone was trying to sleep.
Poor Germans, we kept on drinking and drinking the whole flight 👌💯
That is the best economy seat ive ever seen. It literally gives you free earphones and there was no screaming babies or anything
Mr Tumble well in my opinion and experience BA has The best economy on long haul flights in Europe, followed by Swiss. Short haul is always gonna be austrian, they don’t even charge extra for emergency row! And you Get a snack on EVERY single flight, we literally had to order two drinks at once, as the flight was from MUC to VIE, which took about 40minutes.

It's niche, but don't forget the baggage experience. It could make a difference if you had to be somewhere quick after the flight and you were expecting that Priority or First-Class tag to get you your bag. Although I suppose it could be handled differently, though I'd prefer to think it not, in a different country.

Actually there was plenty of privacy in First when I was upgraded from Business a couple of years ago (this doesn’t look the same, so must have been a different aircraft) but I can say it’s not worth the extra cost unless of course price doesn’t matter :-). I’m more than happy in Business because my regular flight is overnight (11.5 hours) and I get to sleep for at least 6/7 of those and the food is great.

I saw this comment elsewhere and thought I'd explain - in many places (especially here in the American South), a Caesar salad really only guarantees you a plate of romaine lettuce, croutons, and perhaps some cheese and/or some lemon juice on top. It really can be that plain depending on where you are. What about the caesar dressing? It may not even come with the salad! Unless you ask for another dressing option, the salad can be quite dry just on its own. A better restaurant may serve the "Caesar dressing" on top, but even if it has this dressing, the salad can taste good with other dressing combinations too (e.g. Ranch dressing is quite popular here to put on top of caesar salads).

It pretty easy, if you fit in the seat it’s premium or business or 1st, if the meal comes on a plate it’s business or first, if the flight crew make your bed up it’s first. If you feel like cattle in an overcrowded shoebox it’s economy.

The Legend I always travelled in economy but flight attendants are usually very nice and comprehensive, even if you don’t speak their language correctly they always try to understand you and do their best and as i’m not an english native speaker it’s really cool :)

The fare differences are roughly 2.5 times between classes
It's 14k for first, 5k for biz, 2k for premium and 700 for economy.

I am also a big fan of BA, took a380 from hkg to lhr and 772 from pvg to lhr in all classes. Even the economy is comfy. Although it is controversial of the Yingyang layout of club world but the privacy is topnotch.

I think Club looks waaaay cooler than First, the little closed off cabinets instead of the open seats with your back turned towards the room. And you also get ordered food and everything. And why would I want them to make me my bed? Cool video!
Nah club feels pretty cramped and can be quite noisy, first is always really quiet and feels like there is a lot of space

To be honest, I call BA’s business class “coffin class” because that’s what it feels like. Also, Having flown Qatar Qsuite, Qsuite is so much more comfortable!
@Marwin Club sucks especially on long haul flights. During takeoff, you stare at a random stranger because your seat is rear facing. The seat is also pretty small compared to other Business class seats

Having an entire row to yourself on an international flight is a game changer in economy. Bonus points if it’s over five hours long or you’re traveling between continents.
I can tolerate economy because I know I’m going on holiday!! Absolutely great if you have empty seats next to you...I once flew economy on the A380 and had the whole row to myself so I literally had a flat bed which I used for the whole flight....

Great concept!! I think the Economy guy got lucky cuz he had a row to himself and got to lay down. This is unusual. He would have felt a lot worse having to stay sitting the whole night. Also, how tall was that Captain?!!! I enjoyed this a lot. Thanks.

My dads work pays for business class and it’s almost like first (from what I can tell on this vid, although different airlines offer different experiences)
The guy who got economy was such a sweetheart and good sport about it. It was actually a really nice economy IMO. My son flies home from the Air Force all the time in economy and he said he has a hard time getting a soda. Maybe because it's not an international flight? He was delayed 2 days coming home, not due to weather and they gave him a $8 food ticket!
I travelled with Emirates in First class with my boyfriend 2 months ago, and it had the same products that it had here in the british, like lip balm, razor, creams, etc. But it was all bulgari brand, even the bag that it was including them. Best experience of my life with this flight.

Nice video to see of the four classes
I've flown a lot of long haul flights mostly Economy and a couple of business and first class. I don't feel like I'm getting a good review of economy. I will check out a few more of your videos (by the way I love you guys). Jean mentioned not getting a drink pre-take off, that is not standard on Economy. Perhaps you guys can have a check list of 3-5 thinks you liked. My personal experience is that Lufthansa is better then Swiss, please give reasons why, such as: 3 reasons I loved Lufthansa Economy. 1) constantly bringing water by, 2) we got ice cream, 3) Seats were super comfortable, 4) food was very good, & 5) airport layover in Munich had free Coffee, Tea, Newspapers, and children's indoor playground for all economy passengers. Also, a side note Muncih airport had reasonably priced meals, and was very clean. I love Zurich, but the airport has expended in the past 15 years and quite a bit larger to get around, however Zurich also offers a child play area between layovers and is also very clean.
The next return flight, you guys should reverse the class.

Get sufficient status, silver at least. Wait for an upgrade offer from premium, or find a flight where they're obviously over subscribed in premium and economy and then do a points upgrade. Business doesn't have to be that expensive if you do it right. Just don't do it when you have a hire car at the other end, makes you dead sad about the Champagne you could be drinking...

@@calhta What’s messed up is I had Avios and due to the pandemic, I couldn’t fly anywhere with BA. I went back last week to look, and they were gone. So I can’t even do my little flights to get Bronze. Start all over again, I shall. Lol

That was a great idea, and hope you try this concept with other airlines too. A little logo or letter in the corner would be useful as it was sometimes difficult to differentiate between the cabins, especially with close-up shots. Great video guys. I'm guessing you had BA permission to film that?
What I dom't understand is why on reaching ther destination, all of them reverted to acting like 12 year olds.Riding sutcases etc, I'll bet that pilot told his bosses, no more youtubers in my first class ever again

@@patrickgunn8351 Yeah, Southwest probably is the best. And if you ever think about flying United Airlines--DON'T! Especially if you are trying to fly Economy or Basic Economy. They have the worst service I have ever seen with an airline. Even first class has cramped seats!
(I just flew eight hours to Alaska with United, and the prices for Basic Economy ended up being higher than Economy+ because of all the supplies we had to buy to fit baggage requirements! Then I flew back with Delta, which actually allowed us to have a carry-on bag with Basic Economy, not just a personal item. There was more leg room too. Unfortunately, Southwest doesn't fly to Alaska, so we couldn't use that. And Alaska airlines were all booked up for the days we needed :/ Just a heads up if you ever want to fly up there!)
yeah, they flew BA which is more on the luxury side, but uk planes are generally really nice

We flew from T5 this October. Toilets were spotless. You can tell a lot about somewhere like the standard of the facilities. Heathrow terminal five was very good.. also the security screening took a matter of minutes. All in all an excellent experience. It’s a pity that ended when we boarded or shorthaul eight, 320 to Barcelona and sat in one of the economy class seats, which is smaller than Easyjet jet, Jet2 and Ryanair. I’m 6 foot four, and was nearly crippled by the time that I got off the flight. I’ll never fly British Airways short-haul again for this reason, and this reason specifically again. I am booked on a British Airways long haul in October in premium economy and expect that the extra legroom will make all the difference.

First is soooo much nicer than club, much more space, quieter cabin, eat when you want, pjs. I’m not talking about ticket price at all, just the travel experience.
Unknown User sure, you could save a lot of money if you walk instead. Or maybe it isn’t necessary to travel at all. But if you do have to go and first is an option I would chose it.
Unknown User I agree that if you are a budget traveller then the premium cabins are not worth it for you. But business travellers are offered cabins that they can rest, sleep, or work in so that when they arrive at their destinations they are ready to get to work.
Considering how much I pay, I find B.A. Club World (business) great value. I use this regularly on a 11.5 hour flight and never have any complaints other than I wish the seat could be just a bit wider. Service and food never disappoints. On the route I use, economy is nearly always full so the experience shown here is very rare I imagine.

@@alexrood2115 if you fly frequently and are committed to one airline, you can probably get upgraded to business every 15-20 flights or get offered business class for really cheap. One time I got offered business class for just an additional 500$ when the msrp for a business class seat on that flight would be an additional 2000$.
I can barely afford economy, premium/club sounds amazing.
Let alone first class
First class gets lonely. Been in it once but usually in club (mum works for BA), both extremely nice and first class is obviously better but imo club is best value for money on a flight over 6h.

@@azestical6566 I've flown exclusively on Basic Economy. The seats are cheap and there's no real downside other than limited carry-on space. Generally these are for shorter flights, so limited carry-on isn't bad. I used it for Boston to Cleveland and back. It's not bad at all.

When I went on British airways I was flying premium economy however I received an amenities kit
It was nice to see all levels of travel, I have only ever done economy, the service & food looked great, well done.
