2 years later and your video is still extremely helpful. Had the error on the intake but did the exhaust while I was in there. Quick and easy and the Nox runs/sounds better than it has in years. Thank you!

For everyone running a vehicle with vvt on the engine. Change your oil frequently with the recommended oil. Its usually on your oil filler cap. DO NOT use any additives that are thick and slow to pour! Using an additive like Seafoam for a few hundred before an oil change helps a whole lot to keep those problems from happening and can address those symptoms sometimes IF the valve or circuit is not bad. Make sure you read and follow the directions. About 1oz per quart on 4 stroke gasoline engines. I hope this is found useful.

This guy just saved me a ton of money watching his video . I looked at few forums n had advance auto scan my suv for codes this came up. After replaced both solenoids suv works good as new. They even took the code off for me, job took about 40 min . With diagnosis n labor at a dealer probably would be more than 500 since it was stalling like 4 to 5 times since last night ...

Great video! Took me about 15 minutes and most of that was taking the clamps off of the solenoid. Few tips:
    1. If you have this issue, you can fix it...this video is all you need. No need to pay a mechanic for this one...
    2. Cover the throttle body with a rag or painters tape, and if you have a chance, clean it when you have it uncovered. Don't want to knock a wayward bolt down there.
    3. To get the clamps off the solenoid, push them down before pulling them up...be patient, they will come off.
    4. Definitely replace both at once...I only replaced the intake b/c that was the code I was getting when I checked it at AutoZone. It was so easy, it's no big deal to go change out the exhaust side but why do a job twice?
    4. I don't have anything to clear the code so cycle the engine 5-8 times and the check engine light will go off. I cycled the engine a few times, drove it around the block and it cleared.

Well done! Thx. I used your video to help me replace the parts for a 2015 GMC Terrain 2.4L. The solenoids were about $52 EACH at both O'Reilly's and AutoZone. Much cheaper online, but didn't have the luxury of time. We had a P0011 code - which points to camshaft position sensor, but after replacing one the car stilled stalled and acted up. Changing oil is a must! Even though it didn't code at P0013 or P0014, I replaced both solenoids anyway and the Check Engine light went off after checking codes again w/OBDII reader. About $160 into it with all 3 parts and some dielectric grease, but - praise God(!) - we are back on the road again and saved $100s. DD

Very helpful video! My sons car is a 16’ Terrain 2.4 liter, 50k miles. He actually pulled this video up when it started running really rough and light came on. We went to local Oreilly’s to pull code, bought intake valve and replaced. I think it took longer to get my tools out than to actually do the work. I pulled fuses for ECM and cleared codes. So far so good! This little project was a breeze!😎🤞

First time watching your channel and it was great. You DID NOT go too fast, the exact opposite in fact. I chose this vid over others b/c it was the shortest. If a person can't get the air intake cover off or the second cover, they shouldn't be doing mechanics in the first place. It was quick, straight to the point and just enough talking. Good vid!

Unbelievable. Thank you so much. I just purchased a 2012 GMC Terrain. (Used of coarse) but after 500 miles service engine light 💡 goes on. I was upset and scared. Went to auto zone they plugged in reader and came up with P0010 and PO0172. Watched this video overnight studied it ordered both intake and exhaust for $100 total and my own reader. Well also got oil Change in morning and after that light went off. But my reader still read now 3 codes instead of 2. Well replaced both parts in 15 mins and bam. All fixed. Plugged in my own reader and read zero 0 OTC or readings. ( after I reset codes that is ).
Thank you so much this helped a lot of people. Keep up the good work

I noticed that the two parts I took out were made in China. My vehicle has only 70,000 miles but I’m assuming someone replaced these before. I purchased AC Delco from auto zone. I also ordered two from Amazon for $26.99 for both but I just couldn’t wait two days so I will either keep those or return either way I’m so thrilled 😁

Question. When yours went bad. Was your car noy wanting to start unless you held the gas pedal down? And even when it did start, would it idle funny up n down and seem as if it wanted to stall out or sometimes does stall out. And also when driving, does the car seem as if it dont wanna go and takes forever to get up to 30 mph or so? The engine will rev up high kinda like its normal while in park. But when driving. If i floor the gas pedal. It will either bogg down right away and act like it wants to stall. Or the engine will rev up high real quick but when it kicks into gear n wants to go. The rpms will quickly drop. Also going up hill it seems like it dont wanna go sometimes. But if i put the car in first gear. It will take a lil bit to get up to speed but once its up to speed and the rpms are high. I can floor it and it will seem like it had alot of horse power n id jumppy but in a good way. What were your symptoms with the code p0010?

P0011 Is the code they gave me from advanced auto. My car has felt like it wanted to stall a couple of times going slow and then wanting to stop. Check engine light came on once and my dad was thinking maybe the battery was low so he charged it up check and June light went away. But it came on again today it looks easy enough to change Them if I do them myself should the check engine light then go off. I have a 2017 gmc terrain

Curious if I could get some input:
We have the same engine, but it’s a Chevy Captiva, 2014. I had several things go wrong and fixed all of them (to my knowledge):
I know the timing chains go bad on these quickly, usually because of a broken guide, which creates rubbing, etc. so we had ours changed, which was good, because the guide had broken. No damage though.
So other parts replaced (because of codes or my own observation): these solenoids, the MAP sensor, Alternator and battery, power steering pump. We had lots of things fail all at once. This is all done in the past month alone. Most in the last few days.
So I just got it all back together and wanted to be sure that it gets cleaned out, because I saw a lot of hunk on the old solenoids (but we change our oil religiously at 5,000 mi, sometimes sooner). So I was confused by that. So I used one of those engine cleaners that you pour in your oil. Ran it for about 15 minutes and then had Jiffy Lube do an oil change.
Afterwards, it coded both solenoids again, advanced VVT codes. Now the cam actuator itself doesn’t usually go bad on these. So my only possible idea is that they’re simply dirty from the oil cleaner. So I’m thinking I’m going take them out and clean them with some carb cleaner.
But furthermore, my car is running a little hot (could just be air in the system from taking one of the coolant hoses off to access the power steering pump and alternator?). And most strange, which makes me think of a vacuum issue: the engine shakes when I’m in drive or reverse. Only in these two positions. And a bit worse in these positions with the AC turned on.
Any input you could give would be helpful, thanks! I’m hoping the shaking isn’t due to the mechanic not having the balance shafts in the proper position or something. Or worse, that something is wrong with the crankshaft. But I can’t imagine that considering it runs perfectly in Park. It seems to run pretty fine overall. Especially after that oil change. Just running a bit hot, a bit of shaking, and throwing the solenoid codes.

Can you call me please 419-466-7663 i wanna see how exactly your car is running with this code to see if thats the actual problem or if maybe something else is causing my car to have the p0010 code pop up.
