- Dio is one of my all-time favourite bands and here are some of my favourite Dio riffs.
Had a hard time choosing just 10 riffs, trying to keep the video not too long. Maybe Part 2 later?
Playing here my Ibanez RT650 from 1992 through Neural DSP Quad Cortex. Dunlop 9-46 strings in E Standard tuning and Dunlop Ultex Sharp 1.0mm pick.
00:00 Straight Through The Heart
00:22 Dream Evil
00:55 Stand Up And Shout
01:15 Fever Dreams
01:58 Holy Diver
02:22 Lord Of The Last Day
03:14 We Rock
03:42 Sacred Heart
04:11 Don't Talk To Strangers
04:43 The Last In Line
And this man doesn't like guitar tabs. He takes everything by ear. He listens and does his job
Really good riffs! Waiting for part 2. Would be awesome to see you cover another bands too.
Oh man for a week now I'm totally binge listening Dio's discography after watching this video. This is incredible so yeah, thank you for the awesome discovery !
Glad you enjoy it!
More videos like this teemu,we love you
Always exciting to see you uploaded a new video :)
i love you! it was so cool to meet you and get to shake your hand :)
Megadeth covers please . we are so excited to see you on stage with Dave
Excited to see you playing for Megadeth!
Excellent riffage! I've been on a Dio kick lately. Nice to see this segment. I hope you're doing well Teemu. 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Thanks! You too, Ryan!
cool riffs!
Love this! This is amazing thank you!
Maukkaita riffejä! Tällasta kattelis ja kuuntelis mielellään lisääkin :)
Thanks! Lisää tulossa! 🤘
I like that PGM in the background. I have one of the reissues of that model.
Awesome! Thanks for adding tabs.
Teemu, love this video ! Can you tell your opinion on the Tracy G era dio (Strange Highways and Angry Machines)?
Awesome riffs! You nailed it as usual. Do you still give guitar lessons?
Yes I do! email: info at teemumantysaari dot com, or PM on IG/FB.
Rainbow in the dark has a sick riff too
Totally! We used to play that one too with Run For Cover (pre-Smackbound).
Awesome tutorial!
Would love to see more instructional stuff from you, you have such clean technique. Keep it up!!
Great! I love Dio too.
How about Lock up the wolves and Black?
Oh, and it seems that I'm listening to your guitar acoustically. I guess you didn't took the sound directly from the pedalboard, but from the ambient. I'm not complaining, just commenting.
Thanks! Yeah, maybe for that pt. 2.
And yes, t's indeed the room sound, playing my Quad Cortex through studio monitors.
As a fellow finn I can say you've really struck the deal for playing.
Can play killer fast but sadly still lacking in coordination and execution.. maybe I'll have time from work some day to take some lessons, one could hope.
Kiitos mahtavasta inspiraatiosta ja jatka ihmeessä pitkään. :)
Love it
Nice
Hey Teemu, please do a tutorial on some Rowan Robertson work from 'Lock up the wolves' album. That would be awesome :)
Great Video, u had me playing all the songs... You should do more Lessons with Tabs is was graet... Thx🤟🎸
Ehm, you wear a neural dsp shirt... Might there be something coming? ;)
Loving everything Neural DSP does and been an avid user and supporter since day one! I've done some beta testing and factory presets for a few of the plugins and Quad Cortex. Would be a bucket list thing for sure to get to make my own plugin with them at some point in the future!
What string gauge do you have? On the riff "The Last in Line" you play the vibrato with only two fingers, as I see it. How do you do that? I've been trying for ten minutes now, but it's almost impossible for me to get a proper vibrato over three strings with only two fingers. I can do it with one finger over two strings, but not at all with two fingers over three strings. Is that because of my strings (0.10-0.52 d standard), because I don't have the strength, or because I just don't have it?
For all other guitarists: try to play these very simple riffs as cleanly as Teemu. Except for Gilbert, I don't know anyone who plays as clean as Teemu.
Playing 9-46 in E Standard here. I like the light touch for easier bends and vibrato. In D Standard I also use 10-52, which has even a bit less tension on the higher strings, and a bit more on to lower strings (compared to 9-46/E).
You can do this particular three string vibrato multiple different ways, see for example Campbell doing fingers 123, Aldrich fingers 112. Hard to say what exactly is holding you back without seeing your playing. But either way I'd advice concentrating more on a wrist+forearm motion with fingers in a solid form, rather than doing much of finger movement.
@@teemu_mantysaari Hey Teemu!
I've been working on my hand movement for a few weeks now and that was actually the problem!
One more question: what string action are you playing? It all sounds pretty low (somewhere in the 2mm range?)
Its such a shame theres no Dio for Teemu to join!

Good stuff but are we finally gonna get some new Wintersun music in the forseeable future? It's been almost 5 years again
The Wintersun songwriting or release schedule is not really up to me but I've heard some of the new tracks Jari is working on and he's making a good progress (and they sound great!). So new Wintersun music is coming. Thank you for the patience!
@@teemu_mantysaari Can't wait :)
😎👌
Please overlove from dio
