    • @BW_Drums
      @BW_Drums 7 лет назад +52

      I'm going to have to disagree with all three of you on some things.
      @fazeel ashraf Teemu IS spectacular, one of the finest guitarists I've ever seen. But Jari is also an excellent guitarist, an absolutely incredible vocalist and a mastermind composer. Kai Hahto is one of the best Metal drummers of our era, and consistently referred to as "Finland's best drummer" (obviously up for debate but that has to say something) and is the go-to guy for Metal bands that need drum work done (e.g. Nightwish). Jukka, whilst not only being a fantastic and unique bass player also has some of the best low growls I've ever heard. This truly is a band of musicians that are all masters of their chosen instruments.
      @martsum Their latest album is entirely up to interpretation. It's definitely an album that needs to be understood and listened to more than once or twice. Also, you wishing they would make their songs shorter again is entirely based on opinion. I love long songs and much prefer it. To the point where I would call anything under 6 minutes "a short song".
      @Evil Giggles The Forest Seasons wasn't necessarily made solely for the crowdfunding. Jari had already written and completed one of the songs and realised that he had ideas for similar songs before he had even considered doing a crowdfunding project. He realised that by finishing and recording these songs he could turn it into its own album and do a crowdfunding event.

    I literally have never seen a guitarist with that much control over his right hand while playing. Every single motion is perfect while still delivering the punch on the strings that you need to play metal. (Otherwise you wont sound as aggressive and the tone could get muddy)
    Thats a problem I have, either I play perfectly clean but with very nondefined and nonaggressive tone, or I play with really aggressive mean tone but dont play as clean and sadly hit other strings and dont time it as perfectly.
    Will try to get a hold of this interview, for sure!

    What I noticed from this video:
    Teemu has "neutral wrist" during normal work, but pronates a bit to catch his upward pickslanthing. But when he kicks into downward pickslanting overdrive, he supinates, flexes wrist in, and looks more like a gypsy. Amazing how you can so fluidly switch between such different methods.

    @Troy
    Just a suggestion: I would LOVE to see a in depth study of the vectors of travel of the pick itself in all 3 dimensions
    1. Angles and distance of travel across strings relative to the pick, and relative to the string.
    2. Depths of travel
    3. Distances of travel.
    4. where does the string impact the pick on both up and downstrokes during both downward pickslants, and upward pickslants?
    I find in my own playing, these vectors ultimately change everything about how to play, and how the music sounds. For Example: a 45degree swipe accross the string, leaves you in a bad position on the upstroke. So...at the end of the day, if leave anatomy and physiology out of all of this, what is the PICK actually doing...what are the optimal angles and vectors of the pick travel itself?
    I would love to do this myself, but .... while you are at all this... might do that too yo!

      @@andyshreds573 eh, I'd be willing wager that Paul's picking hand is much more intricate than Petrucci with how developed his two-way pick slanting is. Also, Romeo has an equal amount of influence from Shawn Lane who I think has a different approach from Yngwie. Yngwie has an economy picking system that is unique to him as Chris Brooks extensively covers in his book Neoclassical Speed Strategies for Guitar.
